Lunations and Long Term Aspects

The Full Moon this month on April 6 in Libra, your 2nd house of income, possessions, comforts, needs and pleasures as well as what you value.  It also includes your body as your first and most permanent possession, at least in this lifetime.  This should bring an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase to something in this part of your life.  Given that the Sun is in Aries, your 8th house of transformations, death and rebirth (literally and figuratively), shared resources, debt, sex, and intense experiences, look to that house also for something associated with this Full Moon.  It could be as simple as getting a windfall, albeit your income tax return, and using it to pay off a debt.

There is a long-term aspect associated with this lunation which is going to last until late December and thus worth pointing out so that you're aware of the energy and what lesson it may be trying provide so you recognize it when it appears.  This involves a square between Uranus and Pluto, two slow-moving outer planets which dictate the themes of your life.  Uranus is the planet of surprises, unexpected events, disruptions, disturbances, breakthroughs, rebellion, freedom, technology, innovation and sudden change which is even more erratic in independent, impulsive Aries.  As noted earlier, Aries is your 8th house of transformations and so forth, so you can expect to have a variety of interesting experiences over the coming few years while Uranus transits that sign which will change you in some way.

Pluto is in fellow Earth Sign, Capricorn, your 5th house of ego development, creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation, i.e. where you express yourself in your own unique way.  Pluto may not be a very comfortable visitor in this part of your life.  Being a Virgo you are more than likely a bit of a perfectionist and while you may excel at finding the hidden flaw in others you are not nearly as comfortable with criticism yourself.  Thus you are probably not going to like Pluto rooting around in those areas which you take very personally.  As with all transits, however, this is a time for growth.  It is usually difficult for a Virgo to understand the concept that being a perfectionist is a vice as opposed to a virtue, particularly when you criticize anything, including yourself, too heavily and cannot find anything admirable around you simply because nothing is perfect.  Now before you take this too personally as criticism, bear in mind that I have a Virgo ascendant and had to learn this lesson myself the hard way.  This can be a liberating time when you finally quit beating yourself up over your weaknesses and flaws and begin to smell the roses along the way a bit more readily as opposed to simply seeing those proverbial thorns.

Thus, this square between Uranus and Pluto are going to conspire together to help you learn this lesson.  When the degrees of their respective zodiacal position approach that of your natal Sun, Moon and other planets you are likely to encounter something which is going to present this lesson, or whatever one you need to learn, in a sudden and probably totally unexpected manner.  Over time you will change significantly from these various experiences and even though you may not realize it, as you let go of perfectionism, especially if you happen to be obsessive about it (like my Virgo mother who had a Scorpio ascendant) you actually become a better, more highly evolved individual.

There is a T-square associated with this lunation which won't last long but may provide noticeable influence at the time.  It comprises Venus in Gemini, Mars in Virgo, and Neptune in your polar sign, Pisces.  Venus in Gemini, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status, is a nice placement which should benefit this part of your life in some way.  It's an excellent time to make a presentation, ask for a raise, and so forth.  Put it to good use.  However, she is squaring retrograde Mars in your 1st house, and if your birthday is right around August 27 then Mars is on your natal Sun, giving it even more energy or perhaps a lack thereof.  Mars RX tends to reduce everyone's motivation though it can be a time when you find things coming at you, making you the batter as opposed to the pitcher.  It is also a time to consider doing things differently.  This square could prevent you from doing something that could enhance your career or status, perhaps because of not feeling it's perfect, that it won't work, or some other negative view.  Neptune is very comfortable in Pisces, his home base, and he is busy projecting all sorts of dreamy vibes which can be quite pleasant while at the same time fogging your clarity and understanding into a nice, thick fog much like that dose of laughing gas at the dental office.  Neptune can institute delusions, which is likely to be what's feeding that hesitance represented by Mars RX.

This is not to say that you're entirely off-base with your assumptions toward imperfections.  However, you should take a close look at their reality and whether or not you're being logical.  When you initiate a project it's seldom perfect but this is accomplished in incremental steps along the way.  However, examining it closely until you're comfortable with it is not a bad thing, just be aware that you need to achieve balance.  Uranus may lend a helping hand with this by throwing an opportunity your way where you can see yourself more clearly and have more confidence in yourself.  This, in turn, will help motivate you toward appropriate action, so don't ignore it.

The New Moon on April 21 is in fellow Earth Sign, Taurus, your 9th house of higher learning, religion, politics, philosophy of life, other cultures, relocation, long-distance travel, legal matters and so forth.  This should bring something new your way in this part of your life.  By this time Mars has gone directly, gratefully, in your 1st house which should help you get rolling again without feeling as if you're driving with the brakes on.  Uranus and Mercury are conjunct in Aries which are likely to give you a boost as well, perhaps via news or information that takes you by surprise and changes your attitude or outlook in some way.  Neptune is available for some inspiration, but remember not to take it too far, but to maintain balance between what is possible and what isn't.  And remember that in most instances, perfection isn't, so don't shackle yourself with impossible standards.
