Gemini - Virgo

What you like about each other:  Gemini wit and conversation skills, Virgo reserve, accomplishments and eye for details.

What drives you crazy:  Gemini unfinished projects and lack of order, Virgo nitpicking and perseverance, which translates into nagging.

Since these two are both Mutable signs, they may get along slightly better than others that are squared off from one another.  This provides a certain degree of flexibility that can be a tremendous help in concert with compatible Moon and/or Ascendant signs.  They're also ruled by the same planet, Mercury.  If they happen to meet when Mercury is retrograde, which is fairly often, things will probably not go well from the start.  Both are communicators, but with different styles.  By appearance they really don't seem that different but looks can be deceiving.  Like all Air-Earth combinations, one recurring problem is the Talk-Do dilemma.  Gemini likes to talk and Virgo likes to do, meaning that Gemini is happy because the Twin doesn't have too much competition on the conversation floor, but Virgo wishes that s/he would shut up and do something for a change.  Or, more specifically, FINISH something.

Geminis have a plethora of interests and it's very typical for them to have dozens of unfinished projects at any given time.  This does not bother them in the least because it offers them variety and prevents the boredom they abhor as they flit from one to another, doing a little here and a little there, until eventually, something may actually get completed.   However, there are always several others waiting in the wings so the fact that one of them is done isn't obvious to the casual observer.  That said, consider the fact that to the meticulous, methodical Virgo who likes to do one thing at a time and finish it perfectly before starting anything else, this can be incredibly nerve wracking. 

To say nothing of the clutter involved!  Virgos aren't always perfectly neat themselves but they know where everything is.  However, they expect your stuff to be in order.  There is nothing more annoying to a Virgo than to have someone ask them where something is and not know the answer.  It doesn't matter that the item doesn't belong to them or that it's something for which they're not even responsible.  As perfectionists they expect themselves to know everything and when they don't they feel stupid.  And if you misplaced your car keys and they don't know where they are, then they're deficient and you're an idiot for not knowing enough to put them in the same place every single time so this doesn't happen over and over and over again!  Geez, Gemini, get a clue!

Anyway, you get the idea.  Both Twins and Virgos are very nice people and charming in their own way but they are very, very different and this one trait could be the death of the relationship in short order.  Sadly, it may not surface until a fair amount of time has been invested in the relationship, which can be quite disappointing to both sides.  Virgo will feel stupid for not recognizing it sooner and Gemini will think twice next time before admiring anyone's organization skills.  Fortunately, Earth and Air signs are not terribly emotional and are able to move on with slightly less scarring than Water or Fire.  This doesn't mean they won't hurt and suffer, but they'll get over it in due time.  And there's always the hope that this standoff will be avoided because they have compatible Moons or Ascendants, giving Gemini some orderly tendencies and Virgo some tolerance.  Without that, it's not too likely this will turn out to be a match made in heaven, but rather some kind of negative karma to be endured by both for past misdeeds.
