August 2007 Astrocast

Key Events:

New Moon: 8/12/2007

Full Moon: 8/28/2007/Eclipse

Jupiter Direct:  8/06/2007

Other RX Planets:  Venus, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto

It's certainly no coincidence that the Sun transits our Natural 12th House each year, just prior to our birthday and Solar Return period, when we start a new phase of our life.  That is where the Sun is now, Virgo, at least for most of the month, until he slips into your Sign on August 24th.  Saturn is in Leo, also, which will lend additional structure and seriousness to your considerations and from August 10th on, Venus will back into Leo via retrograde (RX) motion.  Venus RX will give you pause and consideration regarding your relationships and finances.  In your 12th House, this may further enhance your ability to discern any hidden reasons why you may have difficulties in these areas.  The New Moon also occurs in Leo on August 12th, which could usher in a new phase for you in this area.

Your ruling planet, Mercury, covers a lot of territory this month.  He starts out in Cancer, moves into Leo on August 5th, and then moves into Virgo on the 20th.  This is more favorable action for clear thinking in these areas and any communications with others that may be necessary.  Mercury is all about data transmittal and communication of all kinds as well as order, organization and how things work.  These analytical skills will be quite useful as you endeavor to figure out what needs to be done relative to you life.

Your Natural 4th House, which governs your home environment, family traditions and early memories, has been hosting Jupiter and Pluto for quite some time now.  Both begin the month RX, but Jupiter goes direct on August 7th.  While RX, Jupiter inclines us to ponder ethical and religious issues, and with this House placement these would be largely relative to your home life.  Once he goes direct, he will have his more usual influence of expansion and increase, perhaps even a bit of luck, which he's famous for as a benefic planet.  About the only negative thing that can come from Jupiter is being a bit too puffed up or optimistic.  So bear that in mind if you're planning on building a home that is a far cry outside your normal budget.  Pluto, on the other hand, is probably doing his usual routine as the astrological Rotorooter.  If there is anything in your upbringing or current home life that has been flushed away rather than properly resolved, it will be coming back to haunt you.  Particularly if your birthday falls September 16 - 22, issues such as these will be grinding away at your psyche, pleading for resolution.

Virgos are perfectionists at heart and great worriers as a result.  The past is particularly bothersome because it can't be changed and made perfect.  However, your understanding can be perfect and the lesson you derive and then apply to your life from that point forward also can be done in the most honest, forthright and effective manner.  Virgos don't like to admit being wrong, since it implies imperfection, but in this case you're arguing with a planet, and an ornery one at that, so you'd do best to identify the lessons you need to learn, realizing it will bring you closer to perfection, and then move forward accordingly.  What you need to remember is that perfection is a journey and no one achieves it in this lifetime.  However, each lesson effectively learned brings you one step closer and the very fact that you're at least trying is worthy of note.  There are millions of cretins out there who have no concept of improving their pitiful, second class lives, so give yourself credit for realizing where you want to go.

Virgo presides over the Universal 6th House that governs work, health and pets, making it an important part of your life and being.  Your Natural 6th House is Aquarius, so your inclinations toward these areas will be colored by that Sign.  [NOTE:--If you don't understand all these different House definitions, go to the House link for an explanation.]  Currently, Neptune is hanging out in that neighborhood, and this is no short-term visit.  Actually, he's been there for quite a while, since January 1998 to be exact, slow mover that he is.  To illustrate further, he'll be in Aquarius until April 2011 when he enters Pisces, but will return to Aquarius through retrograde motion in August 2011 and stay there until February 2012, when he'll finally slip into Pisces once more to stay.  It doesn't take a rocket scientist to do that math on that one, i.e. 14 years.  Neptune, like all the planets, has a positive and negative side.  He can give us a huge dose of idealism, which is not always a good thing if it causes us to have expectations that are too high or unrealistic.  He puts us in tune with the collective consciousness and can usher us into transcendence, but he can also create grand illusions and delusions.  And all of this is going on in your house of work, health and pets.  Since Virgos are an Earth Sign and thus practical by nature with this one of the most important venues of their life, this can obviously cause a lot of confusion and discomfort, especially if that Neptunian idealism melds with that Virgo perfectionism.

If you're disenchanted by your job because it just doesn't meet your expectations or you can't seem to find something that's suitable for your talents this may be the reason.  Neptune can also put your mind in a fog where logic no longer applies.  Ordinarily Virgos won't fall prey to  get-rich-quick schemes due to their in-born practicality and skepticism, but with this placement it's very possible.  You could over-estimate your chances for success, have unrealistic expectations of everyone and everything, or simply fail to see the facts.  If job problems have been haunting you for quite a while, you need to use that Earth Sign common sense to look at things how they really are and act accordingly.  The beauty of planetary transits is that they only affect you when you need growth in that particular area.  If you have it all figured out, the transit will have little, if any, effect.  It's much like gaining immunity after having a cold or other disease.  Once you have it under control, its influence will be nil.  That is particularly important to bear in mind with unpleasant transits, such as Pluto or Saturn.  If you didn't need the lesson, you wouldn't even know it was there.

Your Natural 7th house of relationships is being visited by Uranus, planet of change, upsets, surprises and unexpected events.  Once again, if you're in a stable, happy relationship, this will manifest itself in rather benign ways.  On the other hand, if you have something you need to learn in this area, you are probably being rocked and rolled hither and yon as you try to figure out how you're supposed to get along with people who are clearly no where's near as smart as you are.  Remember that in this context that relationships are defined as any one-on-one interaction, whether it's your significant other, business partner, close relative or friend.  If it's obvious that your planetary visitor causes trouble, then more than likely you have some work to do in this area.  Remember, however, that immunity applies here, too.  The Full Moon on the 28th falls in this neighborhood, which could indicate an ending or phase change of some sort.

Your Natural 10th House, which governs your reputation, career and community standing will be hosting a visit by Mars starting August 8th.  This extra drive and energy could stir the pot a bit, particularly if you're terrifically unsatisfied with your current job.  First of all, let me explain that the work covered by the 6th House pertains to your everyday job while the career covered by the 10th House differs in that it's the actual field in which you work.  For example, you could be an accountant for your career (10th House) but your job (6th House) could be working for an insurance company, freelance, for a small business, or perhaps even for a Fortune 500 company.  Thus, Mars throwing his assertion and energy toward your 10th House could give you the impetus you need for a major career change, not just another job.

This month will be another one of flux, unless your life is significantly stable.  This is not a bad thing, but shows that you're progressing.  Remind yourself daily that life is a journey and you're probably doing better than the majority of people already.  Perfection is something to strive for, regardless of how unlikely it is to be achieved.
