Your 2nd House is loaded with planets, including the Sun, which I know is not literally a planet but is for the sake of astrology.  This will put some emphasis on your possessions, pleasures and comforts as well as your body.  The Sun will throw some emphasis in that direction and Neptune, who has been there for a while and isn't leaving anytime soon, could throw a bit of fantasizing or daydreaming toward what you'd really like to be driving a year from now instead of that 1998 Lumina.  Mercury is there, also, which could put an emphasis on items related to data and communications.  Maybe you'll decide you want a new computer or, considering Neptune's influence, maybe even one of those new, wide screen, plasma TVs or a new stereo system.  This is all well and good and as a Cappy you full-well know whether or not you can afford it.  However, and here's where that insidious valentine comes into the picture, if you decide to indulge yourself, be sure to do it before February 14 because on that day Mercury will once again flag his nose at planet Earth by going retrograde. 

Whatever you do, do NOT buy something electronic between February 14 - March 8.  I mean it.  If an existing possession dies, if possible don't replace it until after March 8.  If you absolutely cannot wait, make sure whatever it is has an airtight warranty because you'll probably need it.  If the item happens to be your 1998 Lumina, then I suggest you rent a car until after March 8.  You're a practical sort.  Try out a few different cars and models from your local rental agency and see what you really like.  Just don't buy anything significant if you can possibly avoid it, including appliances of all sorts.  I could bore you with all sorts of sad tales of things I bought at that time, a laser printer and a refrigerator to name a few, but I'll control myself and refrain.  But consider yourself warned that with Mercury in your 2nd House of possessions you are especially prone to something breaking down on the personal level. 

In general, Mercury RX messes with anything electronic or mechanical.  Computers, cell phones, internet and cable systems, appliances, traffic signals, ice makers, PDAs, you name it, they all tend to go haywire during this time and this affects everyone.  But it's usually at work or out in the world generally and not terribly personal, no matter how annoying it may be.  But this time you're likely to see it first hand, so brace yourself.  There is a New Moon in that same neighborhood that could also signal the start of a new phase of something, in this case perhaps a new monthly payment of some description or a big dent in your savings account.  Thus, this could be an expensive month for you, possibly not by choice.  There is one thing that Mercury RX is good for, however, and that is to re-do, rewrite, revise and edit things that require it.  Along those lines, if you haven't mailed your tax return by February 14, go over it with a fine-tooth comb and send it to the IRS after March 8.  Trust me on this one.

The good news for the month is that Venus will be in your 3rd House of mental activity until the 21st.  So in spite of what may be going on around you, your thoughts will be mellow and kind, at least to a point.  Also in your 3rd House as a long-term visitor is Uranus.  He's the planet of change, surprises, unexpected events and disruptions.  However, with Venus in the neighborhood, hopefully anything unexpected will have a happy ending and since we're talking about your mental activity house there's a good chance you'll come up with some really great idea that might even be worth some money.  Maybe even enough to ultimately pay for those new possessions.  You can always hope.

The Full Moon on February 1 in in your Natural 8th House of sex, death & regeneration, transformation and other people's money.  I can just hear you now thinking something like, "Well, isn't that just peachy."  Full Moons are frequently symbolic of the culmination of something, so maybe you'll finally pay something off or improve your sex life.  Now there's a concept.  (It's probably worth mentioning that the New Moon occurs in Aquarius on February 17 and this happens to be in your 2nd house where all that possessions-in-jeopardy stuff is going on.  So it will really be surprising if you get through February and the first part of March without a major purchase of some kind.  The good news is that this time of year there are lots of bargains out there.  And just for the record, I'm a Cappy, too, and am certainly less than enchanted with the prospect of something breaking down, but knowing the planets like I do, I'll bet something does.)  Your ruling planet, Saturn, is still retrograde in that same neighborhood, meaning something relative to those 8th House matters is rumbling around in your subconscious.  Whatever it is should become apparent around April 21 and you should have the solution well in hand by the end of July. 

Jupiter has been in Sagittarius, your 12th House, which rules your subconscious, since right after Thanksgiving.  Jupiter rules Sagittarius so has somewhat of a home court advantage right now which could prompt some major overhauls or insights at the subconscious level relative to your philosophy of life, educational needs, religious bearings and so forth.  Pluto is also in this House and is probably unearthing old baggage that you need to let go of so that you can move on to bigger and better things.  Pluto spends approximately 20 years in each sign and will be moving on in a year or so, but this isn't necessarily good news because even though he may be done with your subconscious, he'll be moving into Capricorn where he'll probably attempt to dismantle your personality.  Just kidding...

But that's next year or so, so for now all you really need to worry about are those possessions who are at the mercy of Mercury.  I know that for the most part you're not exactly a starry-eyed optimist, but believe me, things could be worse.
