Lunations and Long-term Aspects This month the New Moon is on October 7 in Libra, your 12th House of angels and demons or what I usually call the "woo-woo" house. Here is where you find transcendence, enlightenment, inspiration, dreams, institutions, seclusion, hidden enemies, self-undoing and various other things. A New Moon implies something new coming your way that relates to the house in which it occurs, but this one may be subtle. Of course if you're planning a pilgrimage to Tibet or something, maybe you truly will have a significant 12th House experience, or if your supposed best friend turns you into the cops for that time you smoked a joint behind the barn back in the 60s and you go to jail that would likewise clearly be the 12th. Probably what you need to watch most closely is the "self-undoing" part where your weaknesses can bite you or you simply sabotage yourself in some way. Saturn and Mercury are in Libra as well, lending their energy to the lunation, which gives it a bit more seriousness, though again, if you're seeking enlightenment in a disciplined way, such as studying yoga, this can be beneficial; Saturn would promote discipline and Mercury understanding. Of more interest, I'm sure, is the fact that your ancient ruler, Mars, and Venus are conjunct in your sign. If your birthday is between November 5 - 9 you are probably feeling this as it's likely to increase your libido and drive to find a mate, if you don't already have one. Individually, Venus in your 1st House will increase your charm and make you more attractive to others while Mars in the 1st will increase your drive and energy as well as possibly your aggressive tendencies. The fact that this romantic pairing between the Love Goddess and the God of War is semi-sextile the New Moon, however, carries a subtle warning, particularly for Scorpios. A semi-sextile typically denotes an irritation or annoyance and in this context that implies you may be out there "looking for love in all the wrong places" like that old country western song laments. So caution and common sense that derives from your brain and not your gonads is advised or you may find yourself in a rather unpleasant situation. Your sign ruler, Pluto, is well-established in Capricorn, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors and siblings, where he's going to be for several years to come. This should have distinct advantages for you since you already have a strong sense of discernment; this will keep it on steroids. Your ability to research, find hidden facts and unearth secrets will be greatly enhanced, perhaps to the point of being formidable. However, for this lunation Pluto is in a loose but viable square to Mercury in the 12th, indicating you may perhaps discern something you rather not know or which causes you trouble of some sort. Pluto is in another sloppy square with the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in fellow Water Sign, Pisces, your 5th House of romance, children, creativity, entertainment and speculation. While Jupiter and Uranus have been known to bring windfalls, whenever Uranus is involved it bears a bit of caution. That planet is never predictable and while occasionally he brings a pleasant surprise, more often than not it represents a disruption or disturbance, and with Jupiter, it will be a big one. If we were dealing with a nice friendly trine or sextile to Pluto or any other planet I'd be less concerned since a big surprise in the 5th, which is typically a rather pleasant house, would be fairly likely to be a good thing. But that square to Pluto makes me a bit nervous. My recommendation is to turn up the gain on your internal radar as far up as it will go. Make sure any information you're acting upon is accurate and don't take any unnecessary chances. If your birthday is right around November 19 then Neptune is squaring your Natal Sun from your 4th House of home environment. Neptune can fog your vision like a wall of water and can bring deception, so follow your instincts. Pluto may be unearthing something you really don't want to know or will create some problems, not that hiding your head in the sand is good, either, though I sincerely doubt any Scorpio is prone to that. If your birthday is October 25 - 27 you have a definite advantage with Pluto sextile your Natal Sun, giving you the intuitive equivalent of night vision goggles. Use it. The Full Moon on October 22 is in Aries, a sneeze away from Taurus and thus opposing your Natal Sun if your birthday is right around October 24. Aries is your 6th House of work, health and pets, so this should bring a culmination, ending or shift to a new phase of something in this part of your life. Your friend, Pluto, is mitigating this lunation with an aspect pattern known as a Triangle of Potential that brings Mercury into the situation, increasing your communication and thinking skills. Thus, whatever this Full Moon brings your way, regardless of how it appears, you'll be able to figure out how to handle it in a way which should turn to your advantage. Mars, your ancient ruler, is sending a few messages as well. First of all, he's advising some caution with regard to possible illusions or deception with regard to your home environment, past or present. There is also a remote possibility of problems with water. On the positive side, or so it seems, Mars is prodding you forward with the unexpected situation in the romance department or perhaps related to your children, speculations or doing something you enjoy; this issue is going to also bring about a change of course or direction. Overall, things look favorable, but listen to your instincts and follow your gut feelings. Daily and Short-Term Aspects October 1: If you've been keeping any secrets, they may be exposed today, particularly if they involve evading authority figures or responsibilities. News or ideas regarding any goals that involve your home may require a change of course, but make sure you're seeing things clearly. News that involves your speculations is likely to be favorable yet have pros and cons. October 2: The other shoe falls today when something unexpected surfaces which relates to what you found out yesterday. October 3: That Venus-Mars conjunction is exact today so expect interactions with the opposite sex to be particularly intense. Mercury goes into Libra, facilitating communications with the unseen world or related to institutions or possibly even hidden enemies. Watch your back, just in case. October 4: You're going to want to move forward on something that has you all stirred up. Make sure you can tell the difference between your drive and that inner voice. Be particularly cautious with any decisions that involve your home or family. October 5: Put your instincts and sense of discernment of full alert today and listen carefully to what they're telling you. Feelings are going to be intense but may conflict with your inner voice. You should know which one to follow. October 6: Annoyances or irritations are likely, but depending on what they are they may simply be the results of someone's jealousy. October 7: New Moon in Libra today as described above. October 8: Venus goes retrograde until November 17. Most of that time will be spent in Scorpio but near the end she'll slip into Libra for a time. Venus retrograde is likely to expose her darker side. Annoyances at home that relate to your children or lovers, possibly even your speculations, are possible. October 9: Another day to crank up your sense of discernment. If anyone is your house or family is trying to deceive you, your instincts will alert you today. October 10: Listen to that inner voice, but don't be too hard on yourself. October 11: Clashes or power struggles, either within yourself or involving a neighbor or sibling, are possible. Make sure you're heading in the right direction with your personal ambitions; again, listen to that inner voice. October 13: More surprises in the romantic department are possible. You're looking good and you may be attracting people like never before. Expect the unexpected. October 15: If you discover someone has been stabbing you in the back you'll have a strong urge to get revenge today. Make sure it's worth the price before acting. October 17: Inspiration is highly likely at this time. Pay attention and be prepared to make a few adjustments or change your course. October 18: Inspiration will continue, especially with regard to your home life, past or present. Examine it closely for any lessons or enlightenment. Again, be prepared to make a change of course, perhaps with regard to a romance, your children, or a creative endeavor. Keep an eye on your ego during this time as well. October 19: If you're the creative type, now is an excellent time to gain some inspiration that is innovative and unusual. If possible spend the day doing something you enjoy. If nothing else, jot down the ideas that come your way today for use later. October 20: Mercury enters Scorpio, enhancing your communication skills. Put your charm to use in any difficult situations. October 21: Another day which can be very inspiring as far as your creativity is concerned. If anyone has been trying to undermine you it may come out unexpected and require a change of course. Taking action on a creative endeavor or with regard to a romance or your children, is favored; an ethics issue of some sort may be involved or other restrictions may get in your way. October 22: Full Moon in Aries today as described above. Moving forward may be hindered by something or someone related to your home environment. If anyone is trying to put one over on you your abilities to figure it out are greatly enhanced. October 23: The Sun enters Scorpio today, bringing his light to your life and putting the spotlight on you for the coming month. October 24: Moving forward with that creative project or romance may yield some surprises. October 25: Expressing yourself in a very charming way is possible today, so if you have an idea to present or something to discuss with someone, this is an outstanding day to do so. October 26: Another day where you can communicate well, particularly any ideas for creative expansion, which could include your speculations. Your discernment is enhanced today as well. October 27: Boundaries will be noticeable today, either because they're building or because they're dissolving, maybe simply changing. Obligations or responsibilities that surface will cause some friction.
