Lunations and Long-term Aspects This month the New Moon is also a Solar Eclipse that falls in Cancer, your 12th House of spirituality, enlightenment, transcendence, seclusion, confinement, institutions, self-undoing and hidden enemies. This is your house of angels and demons; the good, the bad and the ugly. This eclipse could bring you complete understanding of the known Universe or, conversely, land you in the slammer for those old traffic tickets you never bothered to pay. The general theme for this eclipse, which is a member of the 12 South family in the Saros Series, is that something that you've been struggling with for a while is going to temporarily get worse, and then it will clear. The primary aspect pattern glaring from this lunation is a T-Square that comprises Saturn, Pluto and that Jupiter/Uranus conjunction that will be out there for most this year. Saturn is in your 2nd House of income, finances, possessions, needs and pleasures, which will be his last-ditch effort to get you to instill some serious discipline on your spending habits. Don't deny it, you love nice things, have a royalty complex, and not having the money has never stopped you from getting anything you really wanted, right? Ha, I knew it. Don't ever lie to your astrologer, s/he will catch you on it every time. So that's what Saturn, the cosmic disciplinarian, who's in one corner of that T-Square is up to which I'm sure thrills you no end. Pluto at the apex is another potential bad actor and he's in Capricorn, your 6th House of work, service, health and pets where he's busily exhuming anything from your past that was prematurely buried in that part of your life. Any unresolved issues, the juicier and more blackmail worthy the better, are going to be exposed and you'll have the opportunity to resolve them once and for all. However, since Pluto is squaring Saturn, this could involve money in some way. Jupiter and Uranus in fellow Fire Sign, Aries, are definitely making for some interesting times. If you're one who abhors boredom, then you'll truly appreciate what these two are up to. Aries is your 9th House of beliefs, expectations, other cultures, higher learning, legal matters, relocation, and foreign travel to say nothing of religion, politics and your philosophy of life. Uranus and Jupiter can bring major windfalls but they need to be approached with caution since their energy is not unlike Zeus wielding a thunderbolt. Consider that their influence in the BP Gulf Oil Spill disaster is readily apparent. In your 9th House this explosive pair will bring you something that ranges between a full-ride scholarship to Harvard and a transfer to North Dakota just in time for winter. Whatever it is, expect some conflict between it and trying to rein in your finances with old baggage from the workplace or possibly a health issue right in the middle of both. Eclipses are known to incur events even before the actual eclipse and likewise their effects can linger far beyond they occur. So if you don't quite recognize it yet, just wait. The good news, of course, is the over all promise that whatever this thorn in your side happens to be, it may get worse but after that it will clear and hopefully be gone forever. Besides the T-Square, which is the bad news, there are various other aspects that lend a few hints toward what to expect. The Sun/Moon eclipse pair is sextile Mars in Virgo, which may be whatever it is that stirs up this issue from what you thought was the dead. Bear in mind that this is not necessary going to be a bad thing, depending on your past. If you have nothing to hide or run from, then it should be good. Pluto is the most aspected in this lunation, though, so it's quite likely he'll make an appearance of one kind or another. Besides presiding over the T-Square he's trining Venus in Virgo, which is normally a harmonious aspect which could easily bring something favorable your way such as money or some other benefit that hails back to something in your worklife past. This could even be some almost-forgotten skill or experience you are able to utilize to generate income. Pluto is also quincunx Mercury in your 1st House of personality, which will be enhancing you communication abilities. I've never known a Leo that didn't know how to communicate; rather the one thing they often didn't understand was when to be quiet. And that could be the lesson of this quincunx or adjustment, to learn when you've said enough about your past. Venus is quite active as well. Besides the trine to Pluto already described she is opposing Neptune in your polar sign, Aquarius, which represents your 7th House of close relationships. Neptune can be quite elusive and deceptive though the King of the Deep can also bring enlightenment and transcendence. Venus in your 2nd House of money is usually going to be quite fortunate, but this looks as if someone from your past may arrive just as quickly to relieve you of any extra cash. Venus is also quincunx Jupiter and Uranus, which as insinuated earlier could be the agents of surprise that initiate a chain of events from your House of beliefs, legal matters, higher learning, relocation and so forth. There is a tremendous amount of interaction between the planets for this eclipse so more than likely everything is going to tie together in one very complicated scenario. Venus, Mars and Saturn are all in Virgo, your 2nd House, so that's a lot of energy in those parts. Saturn and Mars are not typically what you'd deem friendly; they're called malefics for a reason. However, Venus is benefic and is highly likely to mediate any challenges that come your way. For example, if an old creditor comes knocking with regard to an old debt, Venus could easily provide the windfall you need get him or her off your doorstep. Mercury in your 1st House is bringing in some surprises as well and may be the facilitator of the big news. The quincunx to Pluto indicates it is going to dig up something from your past that probably relates to a past job or possibly your health. Saturn is deeply involved in the T-Square and is also quincunx Neptune. These two planets are quite antithetical, but can work together amazing well under certain circumstances. For example, Saturn is about structure, boundaries, restrictions and obligations while Neptune is about dissolving boundaries, finding peace in other dimensions and idealism. However, if you've been locked into something that you really need to get out of, as a Fixed Sign, this isn't always easy, so in this case Neptune could help you escape. Neptune is in your 7th House of close relationships which at its worst suggests someone who's manipulative and deceptive and will try and prevent you from assuming more responsibility. Conversely, he may be someone who inspires you to quit beating yourself up with restrictions and find another way around your challenges. The Full Moon on July 25 is in Aquarius, your polar sign and 7th House of relationships. A Full Moon usually indicates an ending, culmination, or shift to a new phase, so look for this to occur with someone who resides in that house which includes not only your significant other but close friends and relatives, business partners, and business professionals you deal with such as your broker, accountant, or hair stylist. So this lunation could simply mean you dump your broker in favor of an online trading account. The T-Square in effect for the eclipse is still alive and well and has only changed a bit since at this time Saturn is now in Libra, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors and siblings as well as short journeys and errands. Getting the corner of that T-square out of your 2nd House of money is probably a good thing, though Mars is vying for the position, implying the money issues aren't over yet. Besides the T-Square there are two Triangles of Potential or ToP's which are generally favorable aspect patterns that provide a means to mediate an opposition through a planet positioned inbetween that trines one planet of the opposition and sextiles the other. Thus, this planet becomes the apex where you can control the outcome of the opposition. These two overlap so are probably related to each other in some way or another. One involves the Sun/Moon opposition with Jupiter situated in the driver's seat in your 9th House of beliefs, higher learning, legal matters and so forth. With the Sun in your sign and the Moon in your polar sign, this implies a conflict between you and someone close to you which can be mediated through a philosophical approach or through finding your common beliefs. The other ToP involves the opposition between Uranus and Saturn being mediated by the Moon. Saturn is in Libra, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and short journeys, and Uranus is in Aries, your 9th House of beliefs and such which is obviously getting a lot of action these days. Thus, if you find yourself in a tug-o-war between your thoughts and current information that conflicts with your core beliefs, you need to go with your heart. Other Full Moon aspects worth noting include an opposition between Mercury and Neptune, which isn't surprising since one is about logic and the other about delusions or dreams. This is also likely to relate to a relationship in some way, perhaps where one of you is being a bit too idealistic. There are also some trine between the Jupiter/Uranus couple and the Sun in your Sign, which bodes well for being able to make a few big changes to your core beliefs which will represent you better and incorporate your current stage of evolution as a member of the human family. Short-term Aspects July 1: If you're having a few financial challenges, and few people aren't these days, find some time today to meditate on the situation. Inspiration is possible that will help show you the way out of the swamp. July 5: Uranus goes retrograde until December 5. This will make his energy which is already unpredictable even more erratic. July 24: There's something from your past work life that had ethics issues attached. Thoughts or repercussions related to that are likely. July 25: Full Moon today as described above. July 26: This should be a fairly significant day in that at least five different aspects are exact today, which is fairly unusual. First of all, make sure that no one you know is trying to deceive or mislead you. If some level of deception is going on, it may impact your income or finances at this time. Taking more responsibility is going to necessitate some big changes in how you see the world. However, there's no time like the present to figure it out. July 27: Mercury goes into Virgo today, bringing his communication skills to your money house. July 30: Mars goes into Libra today where he can help motivate you to get a few things in order, particularly with regard to your neighbors or siblings. Some favorable news could come your way today related to work, service or your health which will cause you to see things differently than you did before. Your thoughts are going to bring about some sudden changes to your belief system. Something unexpected related to higher learning, legal matters or a relocation are other possibilities. July 31: Getting some plans together to move forward with a renewed sense of responsibility is particularly favored today. |
