Long-term Aspects and Lunations

The New Moon on December 13 is in your sign and thus on your natal Sun if your birthday is within a day or so of that day.  Thus, it's possible that this lunation will be a part of your solar return and thus with you all year.  I don't know how you feel about New Year's Resolutions, but since they coincide pretty closely with your solar return they may be more meaningful for you than others since you are definitely starting a new cycle.  To find out what the coming year holds you might want to get a solar return report, which usually is at least 20 pages long and covers the themes quite nicely.  Mercury is in Sagittarius at the time which is good mental stimulation.  In addition, Mercury is in wide but viable opposition to Jupiter in Gemini, your polar sign and 7th house of close relationships including your significant other, close friends and relatives, business partners, business professionals and competitors.  Since these two planets are in the sign the other rules they are in a condition known as mutual reception, which enhances the ability of each to function in a positive manner.  The message of an opposition aspect is balance with the implications that your own thoughts should be balanced with information coming in from that other person.  Jupiter is retrograde which internalizes his energy and often indicates ethics issues.  He's your sign ruler and thus his energy should feel rather comfortable.  This may be a time to do a close and logical assessment of the close relationships in your life.

This is further indicated by the fact Jupiter is the eye of a yod which first came about last month with the Full Moon.  At that time it was further complicated by two planets in conjunction with Saturn and Pluto at the base, which have since moved on.  The yod faded out for a while but has returned, even though it's a bit sloppy with the three components in different degrees.  This will change and have all of them at 8 degrees in their respective signs on no other date than the infamous 21 December 2012, when the Mayan calendar supposedly ends.  That is also the Winter Solstice (in the Northern Hemisphere, Summer in the Southern) or what is known as the Capricorn Ingress in astro-speak, i.e. when the Sun enters that sign.

I'm going to digress for a moment here since this date has obtained so much publicity and ominous predictions.  The chart does not appear to me to bode some apocalyptic event.  I have seen hurricane and tornado charts for localized areas which were much more threatening than this one (shown below.)  Rather, it appears to be more likely to relate to some sort of revelation of possibly a consciousness change, particularly with the Sun sextile Neptune and Moon trining Mercury.  But it doesn't look like a solar flare or asteroid impact, to be sure.  This is not to say those things won't happen, only that if they do it's not very likely it will be on December 21.

So let's take another look at that yod and what it may mean to you.  With Jupiter in your house of relationships it looks as if these individuals will be playing an important part in your life these days.  If your birthday is right around December 1st this will be even more pronounced with Jupiter not only opposing your natal Sun but doing a retrograde dance that will ultimately bring a total of three contacts.  (This triple hit will affect those of you born between November 28 and December 8.)  Now is the time to take a close look at the people in your life and how they are affecting you.  This could even signify someone who play the role of guru.

The eye of the yod can work either way, as the point or objective or sometimes the trigger that kicks back and activated the sextile base, an aspect which typically indicates an opportunity.  Thus, someone could bring an opportunity to you or perhaps acting upon the opportunity will bring you to this person or increased understanding.  The base comprises Saturn in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn.  If you're familiar at all with planetary rulerships you'll notice that these two planets are also in mutual reception.  It's somewhat unusual to have this with one pair much less two, so this does provide added strength.  Scorpio is your 12th house of dreams, visions, enlightenment, inspiration, seclusion, confinement, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing or what I often call the house of angels and demons.  The collective consciousness resides here as well as spirituality generally.  Saturn signifies structure, boundaries, discipline, responsibility, delays and authority figures.  This could indicate a spiritual leader, incorporating more structure to your spiritual life, such as taking up yoga or practicing regular meditation, or simply putting together a plan to follow one of your dreams.

Pluto is in Capricorn, your 2nd house of finances, income, possessions, needs and pleasures suggesting a deep examination of this part of your life.  Are you working too hard or not hard enough?  Are you taking care of yourself, getting enough rest, and enjoying life?  Pluto does well at such matters and will help you eliminate anything you no longer need and rebuild this part of your life to serve you better.  The need to do so may come as a surprise, such as perhaps a routine visit to your doctor who tell you your blood pressure or cholesterol is too high.  This fits better than you may think because the 2nd house also comprises your physical body, your number one possession.  Ponder all these possibilities and see which one applies to you.  Mars is unaspected in Capricorn which can help direct you to the proper solution.

The Full Moon on December 28 occurs in Cancer, your 8th house of transformations, sex, death and rebirth, debt, shared resources and things you suppress.  With that yod still in effect, this could further assist you in identifying problem areas and doing some rearranging of your life and energy.  The Sun has moved into Capricorn which can help illuminate further what you need to do while the Moon can give you the emotional commitment to make any needed changes, without which we seldom stick to anything.  With the lunation forming a Triangle of Potential with Saturn this will also help you begin a new phase of whatever needs to be done.  Mars is still unaspected so listen to your subconscious, though he has since moved into Aquarius, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings and neighbors.  However, this is excellent for mental stimulation and taking appropriate action.  Neptune is unaspected as well in Pisces, your 4th house which includes your home environment, memories, cultural roots and new beginnings and endings, providing inspiration which can also be helpful.
