Lunations and Long-term Aspects The New Moon this month on December 13 occurs in nextdoor neighboring sign, Sagittarius, your 2nd house of income, possessions, needs and pleasures. This is an excellent time to assess that part of your life and whether it's operating properly. Are your expenditures in line with your income? Do you get enough rest and enjoy life enough to achieve a proper balance? Are you a workaholic who neglects this part of life so you have enough money for "stuff?" Or do you perhaps put too much emphasis on this part of your life and thus cause imbalances in other areas, such as your debt load being out of hand?
Predominant in this chart is a yod that got started with last month's lunar
eclipse. This is the one comprising Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto which had
some additional planets involved last month which have since moved on leaving
this trio to linger until the end of the month. Interestingly enough, all
three planets will be in the same degree in their respective signs on the
infamous date of 21 December 2012, which has received perhaps far more publicity
than it deserves as the end date of the Mayan long count calendar. To
diverge for a bit and discuss that particular day which is also the Winter
Solstice or, in astro-speak, the Capricorn Ingress when the Sun enters
Capricorn, I must say that if it really is going to be apocalyptic there isn't
that much of a clue in the chart. I have seen much more ominous charts for
hurricanes and tornadoes, as you can see from the chart below. It looks
more like a revelation or consciousness change than global catastrophe.
And of course, if that's the message, it's going to start with each individual
in some way or another. There are some interesting features, but many of them are also in the New Moon chart, which I'll get back to in a moment. One thing different with this one is the sextile between the Sun and Neptune which is in the same degree or partile and could further facilitate some sort of revelation. Mundane astrologers, who study astrology's affect on world events as well as those who relate it to the weather use ingress charts to predict what to expect in the coming quarter which further hints that whatever the results may be they may not be seen for a significant amount of time. So, now that you can see that the New Moon is simply an introduction to this one, let's examine that yod more carefully and see what its message may be for you. Jupiter is at the eye in Gemini, sign of his debility, where he is also retrograde. Jupiter in Gemini often yields too much information though it is also useful for extensive data gathering. This is your 8th house of transformations, sex, death and regeneration, inheritances, shared resources, debt, and anything you've been suppressing. The eye of the yod may point toward the ultimate result or can also be the trigger point that sets off the opportunity implied by the sextile base. Jupiter retrograde typically has implications of ethics issues as his philosophical inclinations are internalized, making this a favorable time for serious self-assessment. The base comprises Saturn in your sign and Pluto in Capricorn. If you're familiar with astrology you may have noted that these two planets are in the sign the other rules, placing them in a condition known as mutual reception, which helps them to function in a synergistic manner. Scorpio is your 1st house which represents your personality and with Saturn trudging through this venue means that at some point he's going to park himself on your natal Sun. This month that means those of you born right around October 31. Those born before have already been there, done that and possibly got the T-shirt except he may come back again in the coming months due to retrograde motion. Saturn is the planet which rules responsibility, boundaries, delays, structure and authority figures as well as often being considered the lord of karma. Thus, his sojourn in Scorpio is likely to relate to one of those areas. Pluto in Capricorn, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and short journeys, is contributing to Saturn's message in some way. This could come through your own thought process or could be spawned by a neighbor or sibling or perhaps even your general neighborhood, daily commute or something related to your daily activities. Thus, the implications of this yod seem to indicate examining your interactions with these individuals or possibly your thought process itself, especially if you tend to slough off responsibility on others, though the converse could also be true. Mercury in Sagittarius may assist in assessing those needs and pleasures and is also in mutual reception with Jupiter at the eye of the yod, helping there as well. A sudden brainstorm could set this in motion and you may resist it. Be wary of delusions of all sorts and do your best to assess whatever is going on as objectively as possible, though your natural powers of intuition can be helpful as well. Whatever is going on may not be earth shattering but there is something going on you need to at least tweak in some way. Saturn and Pluto will be in their respective venues for a matter of years so if you don't figure it out this time there will undoubtedly be other opportunities. The Universe is quite patient with such things. The Full Moon on December 28 has this same yod, thus giving it additional punch. With the Sun in Capricorn it may help illuminate the matter in one way or another. This could also be the result of any holiday gatherings with neighbors and siblings which often unearth all sorts of things for good or ill. Mars, your traditional sign ruler, is unaspected in Aquarius, your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories and endings/new beginnings, which could stir a few things up as well. Neptune is likewise unaspected in Pisces, your 5th house of ego definition, creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation. This can boost your imagination nicely for creative endeavors and provide a dreamy element to romance and involvement with children but could also induce you to over-indulge in partying, particularly where adult beverages are concerned, so make sure you use common sense in that regard. If you don't, Saturn in your 1st house could be the long arm of the law taking you to the local lockup. Take a close look at anything that occurs for relevance to that yod's intent to enrich your life in some manner. |
