Lunations and Long-term Aspects The New Moon this month on December 13 is in Sagittarius, your 8th house of transformations, sex, death and regeneration, debt, inheritances, intense experiences and buried issues you may need to confront. Mercury is also resident in this sign, providing the mental energies to work through this matter, whatever it may be. The predominant feature of this New Moon's chart is a yod persisting since last month's lunar eclipse which will be in effect until roughly the end of December. This is the one that comprises Jupiter at the eye and Pluto and Saturn at the base; the planets that were conjoining the latter two planets last month have moved on. Long-term aspect patterns such as this may not appear as a sudden event but the gradually evolution of the energy. Yods are typically a bit uncomfortable as the Universe nudges you in a slightly different direction, the level of discomfort usually related to you degree of resistance and/or denial. The three planets will be in the same degree on that now infamous date, 21 December 2012, a.k.a. the Winter Solstice or in astrology-speak, the Capricorn Ingress, or when the Sun enters that sign. Just a quick side-note for those of you wondering about
what astrology has to say about that date which has been promoted as the last
day of the Mayan calendar along with all sorts of dire predictions. This
chart, which you can see below, is not particularly ominous. It has some
interest features such as the yod with all three outer planets in the same
degree and two sets of planets in mutual reception, a condition when two planets
are in the sign the other rules, increasing their ability to work together.
So, back to the New Moon, let's take a look at that yod and ponder how it may affect you at a personal level. Jupiter at the eye could be the result or the driver, making the exact sequence involved in the aspect difficult to call. Jupiter is in Gemini, sign of his debility where he can stir up too much information, commonly referred to as TMI. This is positive for gathering information and assessing its meaning and in your 2nd house of income, possessions, needs and pleasures, is likely to relate to something in this part of your life. Mercury in Sagittarius is opposing Jupiter with these two planets in mutual reception with Mercury in your 8th house of shared resources, sex, death and regeneration, debt, transformation, and those unresolved issues which may be vying for your attention. This particular polarity could relate to your financial or emotional needs and something holding you back from acquiring them. The base includes Saturn in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn, another pair in mutual reception as well as sextile, an aspect which often brings an opportunity, but integrated with a yod some adjustments or changes are required for that to happen or achieve its purpose. Scorpio is your polar sign and 7th house of close relationships including your significant other, close friends and relatives, business partners, business professionals and competitors. Saturn, the planet which represents responsibility, karma, boundaries, structure, delays and authority figures, ties into this part of your life in some way. If nothing else, give some thought to these individuals and the balance of responsibility currently shouldered by each of you. Fellow Earth Sign, Capricorn, is your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, philosophy of life, higher learning, long-distance travel, other cultures, legal matters and relocation. Pluto in this locale suggests a time to closely examine your beliefs and re-assess them. Perhaps it's time to let go of a few and replace them with updated versions. Are there any old beliefs you're clinging to which are no longer serving you as they should? Then tie these concepts together, such as your expectations of those close to you and what affect that has on your income or other needs. Are you sloughing off on others or vice versa? This yod could easily be a wake-up call to effect a proper balance and thus improve your relationships, whether they be with a business partner, significant other or some other meaningful individual in your life. This wake-up call could come in a variety of ways so watch for it and listen to what it's trying to say. Make sure you understand it properly and weigh the facts as objectively as possible. Delusions or refusing to see the truth won't serve you well in the long run. The Full Moon on December 28 is in Cancer, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and local travel. Remember that the yod described above is still in effect with the Sun now joining in to help illuminate the situation more clearly if, up until this point, you've failed to see it. Perhaps the holidays and the usual involvement with family can help as well. This lunation can help you get an emotional grip on the situation, whatever it is, and perhaps guide you toward what needs to be done to put things in their proper order so as to start the new year off in a slightly new direction. |
