Lunations and Long-term Aspects

This is another interesting month on the astrological scene as various long-term cosmic patterns come, go and evolve. Last month we had a Grand Sextile, which is fairly unusual, and this month we have a Grand Square a.k.a. Grand Cross which is embedded in another Grand Sextile, even though it's a bit sloppy as far as aspect orbs are concerned. IMHO, there is so much connectivity amongst the planets that there will be enough transference of energy to make it viable, which it is anyway if you use medieval orbs, which are more generous. Sometimes a tight orb is required, such as when looking at transits to your natal or progressed chart, but out in the cosmos at large it's another story. Think about whether anything of significance on the mundane or personal scene occurred on July 29 with the Grand Sextile and then take note again on August 25.

The New Moon on August 6 is in fellow Fire sign, Leo, your 5th house of ego definition, creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation. If your birthday is right around April 4th this will trine your natal Sun and is thus more likely to bring something interesting to this part of your life. It might not be a big deal, it could simply be some spontaneous fun involving a child or romantic interest, but nonetheless it represents a new phase. As always, you have your free will to use this energy in any way you choose so knowing what the energy is about can guide you to plan appropriate activities. Uranus, of course, is transiting your sign and is parked on you natal Sun if your birthday is right around April 2. Aries is already a very independent sign and Uranus is the planet of freedom, rebellion, uniqueness, innovation, breakthroughs and technology to say nothing of explosions and anything unexpected. Nervous energy is highly likely.

Uranus and Pluto have been squared off for quite a while and will be doing a do-si-do until 2015. The next time the square will be exact is November 1 but the square is still in effect at this time even though it's no longer exact. Pluto is squaring your natal Sun from your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status if your birthday is right around March 30. This can bring about a variety of conflicts, especially with Uranus heading back your way through retrograde movement. The need to transform your career or status is likely to be strong as you seek more freedom of expression and independence, especially if you feel confined or restricted in your current situation. These energies will be affecting all Rams but more strongly if they connect with a natal planet, especially your Sun. So as if that Uranus - Pluto square isn't disruptive or disturbing enough, Jupiter had moved into position in Cancer opposing Pluto which creates a T-square. Cancer, like Aries, is a Cardinal Sign that favors action. It's your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories and new beginnings. Jupiter is exalted in Cancer which allows his expansive nature to operate at full efficiency. However, in a T-square this may not be a good thing, even though he's usually a benefic planet. You know, too much of a good thing, and all that, but it may not be good in the first place even though most Aries enjoy a good fight or stiff competition. In a nutshell, this T-square looks like some serious issues balancing career and home with you perhaps feeling squeezed inbetween.

Your sign ruler, Mars, is in Cancer as well, and has also been part of the T-square, but he moves a little quicker and is getting a bit out of range. He's in fall in Cancer where his fiery energy can be overwhelmed with emotion and sometimes manifest as a temper tantrum or perhaps swimming in circles and not knowing which way to go. The good news is that he and Venus are sextile, an aspect that denotes an opportunity. Venus is in Virgo, sign of her fall, too, however, so it's hard to say how this will work out. Maybe some serious commiserating. Virgo represents your 6th house of work, health, service, people who work for you as well as pets. This could be the chance to work from home or perhaps someone on the home front or close to you providing some assistance with some 6th house matter. This could be as simple as acquiring a new dog who brings some enjoyment and stress-relief by giving you somewhere to direct that emotional energy.

That Grand Water Trine which has been in effect since last month is still hanging in there but not for much longer as Jupiter moves on. I think everyone knows that fire and water don't mix well and that applies to astrological elements as well. All that emotional energy may have you sizzling and throwing sparks, especially if those around you are melting down like Fukushima reactors. The Grand Trine has been operating in your 4th, 8th and 12th houses which are referred to as the Endings houses where you experience life at the deepest and most meaningful level. This has been a strong exchange of emotional energy which may be slightly foreign to you unless you have a Water sign ascendant or Moon, either by birth or progression. Initially when this aspect pattern formed Saturn was retrograde but this big boy went direct the first week of July. This indicates that it's time to restructure something which has transformational implications, especially for those of you with birthdays between March 25 - 30. This could help you mitigate that T-square and figure out what the Universe is trying to tell you.

The Full Moon on August 20 is in Aquarius, your 11th house of groups, friends, organizations, goals, hopes and wishes. If this sounds oddly familiar it's because last month's Full Moon was also in that sign, giving you a double whammy. A Full Moon typically indicates an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase. If your birthday is right around April 18 this lunation could bring an opportunity your way that also relates to enjoying yourself, perhaps with children, a romantic interest or simply a creative endeavor. The T-square described above is still in effect and will be for a while longer. Mercury is conjunct the Sun in your 5th house which will facilitate communications and expressing yourself. Venus is in your polar sign, Libra, where she's in dignity and thus functioning to capacity. If your birthday is right around March 26 she's opposing your Natal Sun which bodes well for someone close to you providing some positive support. She is semisextile Saturn which implies providing an opportunity to move toward that transformational restructuring lesson of the now diminished Grand Trine. She is also quincunx Neptune, suggesting an inspired change of direction that will involve a relationship as well as transformational change.

The Grand Cross/Square on August 25 is worth noting as well. It begins with that infamous T-square with Venus the one changing it from a right triangle to a square. This implies that someone close to you, whether it's a significant other, close friend or relative, business partner, business professional, counselor, or perhaps even a competitor or open enemy may be the catalyst to bring that T-square to the crisis point where it will be confronted and resolved. The Grand Sextile in effect is somewhat sloppy but viable as noted earlier with it important to note that there are thus six sextiles in play with the basic meaning of that aspect being an opportunity. Watch for them. Lots of them. The problem is, however, that within this cosmic kaleidoscope are also a couple mystic rectangles comprised of the sextiles and oppositions which typically present an either/or scenario where you can't have your cake and eat it, too. You may have to give up something to get what you want or make a choice between two things you want equally. The Sun and Mercury are conjunct in Virgo, your house of work and health, bringing attention and information regarding that part of your life, but they both are opposing Neptune in your 12th which can bring some confusion or perhaps delusion. Thus, don't believe everything you hear or learn, it may vanish as quickly as it appeared. The Moon is opposing Saturn as well which could suggest the need for compromise between one of your supposed needs, whether it be money or relaxation, and that transformational change. However it manifests for you it should be an interesting day which could be the gateway to a new and interesting phase of your life.
