Lunations and Long-term Aspects

This month is another busy one astrologically.  Not only are there the usual lunations, but you get another Full Moon in your 7th house of relationships, which also occurred last month plus there's another significant event coming August 25 with a Grand Cross which also includes another somewhat sloppy Grand Sextile.  The aspects are pretty wide but viable using medieval orbs, like they did in the old days before accurate ephemerides and computers.  The Sun leaves your sign on August 22, so make the most of his transit through your 1st house while you can.

The New Moon on August 6 is in your sign and will be virtually on your natal Sun if your birthday is right around then, give or take a day or two.  Your birthday begins a new cycle with your solar return, which is when the Sun returns to its natal position, with that particular chart like a natal chart that lasts for a year.  If you've never tried one of our solar return reports now would be a great time.  They are our most popular report for a detailed overview of what you can expect in the coming year.   If the New Moon does mark your birthday then the energies it brings will be with you for the entire year.  The lunation trines Uranus in fellow Fire Sign, Aries, your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, legal matters, higher learning, other cultures, long-distance travel, philosophy of life and relocation.  Thus, it's highly likely that the New Moon will bring something favorable your way in that part of your life. 

That Grand Water Trine which has been around since last month is on its last legs but still hanging in there for now.  Water signs contain a lot of emotional energy and this type of aspect pattern brings an easy flow through the various signs and houses involved.  As a final review of what it's about, it comprises Saturn in Scorpio, Neptune in Pisces and Jupiter in Cancer.  These represent your 4th, 8th and 12th houses which are known as the Endings houses.  These are where new cycles begin as you assimilate the various lessons life has for you.  Saturn came out of retrograde last month in your 4th of home environment, cultural roots, memories and new beginnings which means now is the time to start restructuring some part of your life.  Which part that may be could become apparent from other aspects if you don't already know, so stay tuned. 

The next member is Neptune in dignity in Pisces, the sign he rules.  This is your 8th house of transformations, death and rebirth, debt, shared resources, investors, sex, things you suppress and intense experiences.  Neptune is dreamy, inspirational, other-worldly and rules dreams and visions.  He can also be deceptive or delusional since much of what he brings isn't tangible or real.  Neptune rules drugs and alcohol as well as things like the movie or gaming industry as well as overseas travel and escaping reality in general.  This transit, which will last for several years, is a good one for counseling or psychotherapy since its energy can promote life-changing insights that facilitate a transformation.  You can see how tying this together with Saturn restructuring your homelife would be a good combination.  Last but far from least is Jupiter in Cancer, where he is exalted and able to function to full efficiency.  Cancer is your 12th house of dreams, visions, spirituality, enlightenment, institutions, seclusion, confinement, hidden enemies and self-undoing.  Again it's relatively easy to see how a philosophical boost in this part of your life could tie in with the other two and give you an entirely new lease on life. 

Unfortunately, Jupiter is a little fickle right now because he is also a major component of another aspect pattern that isn't as friendly.  Pluto and Uranus have been squared off for some time now and that is going to continue for another two years.  It will fade in and out but not go away until then.  Pluto is in Capricorn, your 6th house of work, health, service, people who work for you, and pets.  This can bring confrontations with people on power trips which may be projected and attract such people.  It is also likely to give you the desire for more control in this part of your life.  Uranus is at the apex of this T-square in your 9th house of beliefs and so forth as defined above.  This implies breaking away from beliefs or perhaps even a sudden trip abroad or significant move to a new location.  Unexpected involvement with other cultures is another possibility.  Your beliefs and expectations clashing with someone at work is highly likely.  In this configuration Jupiter can have an inflationary effect, perhaps blowing everything out of proportion.  Flashes of insight or breakthroughs are also possible, e.g., something lurking in your subconscious finally coming to the surface.  If you are in the wrong job or don't know what you want to be when you "grow up" then this can be useful for figuring a few things out.  The Grand Trine can help mitigate any potentially destructive effects of the T-square by helping to assimilate needed lessons so you can move on.

Note Mars is in your 12th house as well, which could constitute a hidden enemy of some sort, perhaps a lingering false belief or someone who is trying to undermine you, possibly even a family member.  Being aware of these energies is a tremendous help in recognizing them and being able to figure out how to manage them.  Mars is doing double duty as well, his other connection a positive one with Venus in your 2nd house of income, possessions, finances, needs and pleasures.  This could bring some moneymaking ideas your way.  Mars is in fall in Cancer, however, where he may be prone to temper tantrums when his action-oriented nature can get bogged down in emotion.  By the end of the month he'll be in your sign which will help you get started on whatever that new phase coming your way happens to be.

The Full Moon on August 20 is in Aquarius, your 7th house of relationships including your significant other, close friends and relatives, business partners, business professionals, cliental, competitors and open enemies (as opposed to hidden enemies who are in your 12th as noted previously).  This suggests and culmination, ending or shift to a new phase regarding one or more relationships.  Last month the Full Moon was also in this house, giving it a double whammy within a month, which doesn't happen very often.  This lunation opposes your natal Sun if this is your birthday, give or take a day, and will be with you all year if it's part of your solar return.  Mercury is conjunct the Sun, emphasizing communications.  Mercury also rules your house of income as well as your 11th house of friends, goals, groups, hopes and wishes so shades of those areas may be involved as well.  Perhaps networking to establish a new source of income or simply relaxing and enjoying some time with friends are possibilities.  The T-square described above is still in effect, so that is ongoing but not for too long as Jupiter gradually moves on.  Mars is still in your 12th of hidden enemies and self-undoing, so watch your back as well as your behavior. 

Venus is in dignity in Libra, a sign she rules, and your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings and neighbors, which bodes nicely for these areas.  She is quincunx Neptune in your 8th of transformations which suggests an inspired and perhaps life-changing shift in direction.  Saturn is in the mix as well and lending a hand with making tangible changes related to your home life which further support the transformational energy surrounding you this month.

Then on August 25, there could be a coup de grace.  This is when that Cardinal Grand Cross forms along with a zodiacal blast of cosmic energy from planets distributed throughout eight of the twelve signs.  That's a lot of diversity and interaction that is likely to bring something your way. The planets involved in the Grand Cross comprise Pluto, Uranus, Jupiter and Venus.  Thus, three quarters of it is that T-square described above with Venus added in your 3rd house.  This could be a sister or female neighbor or perhaps simply a thought or idea, even local travel, that stirs things up with the others, in other words your job situation, subconscious, and beliefs.  This represents a lot of tension which could be explosive, but Venus is usually benefic, especially in her own sign, so she could also be the factor that brings the other issues to conclusion.

The Sun and Mercury are conjunct in Virgo, your 2nd house of income, needs and pleasures but they're opposing Neptune in your house of transformation, debt and shared resources.  This suggests news or a situation involving money that may be delusional in some way.  Don't believe everything you hear at this time in that regard unless it's in writing.  Remember the old adage, if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.  If your birthday lies between July 29 - August 2 your natal Sun forms a T-square with the opposition between the Moon and Saturn.  This could bring an emotional conflict related to home and career.  This is probably a situation where your head and heart will disagree with practicality holding the best hand.  There could be a lot going on at this time which can be confusing.  Mercury in Virgo, sign of his dignity as well as exaltation, can help you discern the facts required to make the best decision.  It's possibly you may encounter an either/or situation where the choices are mutually exclusive.  This is not a day when you can have your cake and eat it, too.  Nonetheless, opportunities should present themselves in a variety of areas so make sure you assess them all carefully.
