Lunations and Long-term Aspects

This month is another interesting month astrologically.  Last month we had a rather rare Grand Sextile and this month we have a Grand Square a.k.a. Grand Cross and it's embedded in another Grand Sextile.  This one is pretty liberal as far as the orbs are concerned but considering the numerous viable aspect I believe there will be sufficient transference to consider them.  They're within range of medieval orbs which allow up to 8 degrees for aspects involved the luminaries.  For now, think of whether anything of significance happened on the mundane or personal scene on July 29.  If so, use that as a baseline and then note what happens on August 25.  This is another tremendous blast of cosmic energy and seems likely to do something.  More details on its potential effects follow the usual commentary on the lunations.

The New Moon on August 6 is in fellow Fire Sign, Leo, your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, legal matters, philosophy of life, higher education, other cultures, long-distance travel and relocation.  This is where your learning and life experiences synthesize into your belief system and how you see and fit into the world around you.  Watch for something new to come into this part of your life, especially if your birthday is right around December 6th.  The lunation is trining Uranus in Aries, another Fire Sign, and your 5th house of ego definition, creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation which could bring a pleasant surprise your way from this part of your life, which could tie back to your 9th by meeting your optimistic expectations.  If your birthday is between December 4 - 6th your natal Sun forms a Grand Trine with all this making it even more likely to be noticeable in your life.  Your 1st, 5th and 9th houses are known as the Life houses and represent your personality, creative expression in all its forms and belief system.

The Grand Water Trine which has been out there since early July is gradually fading away but still in force for the New Moon.  This one comprises Neptune in Pisces, Jupiter, your sign ruler, in Cancer and Saturn in Scorpio.  These are your 4th, 8th and 12th, respectively, which are known as the Endings houses.  These are where important cycles begin and evolve into new phases.  The 4th is your home environment, cultural roots and memories; the 8th is transformations as the result of intense, life-changing experiences and the 12th is your spiritual side.  I've covered this Grand Trine in last month's horoscope, but will go over it again so you can ponder it's meaning for you one final time and perhaps put its energy to use while it's still there.  When there's an aspect out there that affects one of your many charts if you don't use it, it can use you, perhaps in a way you don't like.  Using it up in a positive way is especially important for the harder aspects.  This aspect pattern represents an easy flow of energy between the planets and signs, which are all in the same element, i.e. Water. 

Neptune in your 4th house of home environment will bring a dream character to it.  If your birthday is right around November 26 he squares your natal Sun.  Neptune rules Pisces and is in dignity there, making his energy comfortable and strong, but being a Fire sign this probably isn't familiar much less comfortable for you.  It could make you too idealistic or unrealistic about this part of your life.  It's great for coming up with dreams and inspiration, but when a square is involved delusions or deception is more likely.  The next member of this Grand Trine is your sign ruler, Jupiter, who is actually somewhat fickle this month, but more on that later.  Cancer is the sign of his exaltation so he operates very nicely in this sign as well where his expansive, inclusive nature can ebb and flow without bounds.  This is your 8th house of transformations, death and rebirth, sex, debt, shared resources, things you suppress and the aforementioned intense experiences.  If something unfortunate occurs in this part of your life Jupiter can help you get through it with a philosophical approach.  If your birthday is right around December 1st Jupiter is quincunx your natal Sun which suggests a change of direction which fits in well with the meaning of this house. 

The final member is Saturn in Scorpio, your 12th house of spirituality, visions, dreams, seclusion, confinement, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing.  Saturn recently came out of retrograde the first week of July which means it's time to restructure or rebuild something in this part of your life.  So the Readers' Digest version of this Grand Trine is that you're likely to experience something that gives you a new perspective on life which probably involves your family in some way and influences your current path in some way.  These three planets have a harmonious flow of energy between them but they hit your chart in a more challenging way.  It's worth noting that Mars is currently in Cancer, sign of his fall, which can sometimes manifest as a temper tantrum.  Mars likes to take action but in Cancer he can be so embroiled in emotion that he essentially swims in circles.  One caution with Mars in the 8th is that it can predispose you to accidents so don't take any unnecessary chances this month.  Mars and Venus are sextile, an aspect that implies an opportunity.  Venus is in your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status, which is a favorable placement for promoting yourself.  Thus, if something life-changing occurs it is likely to bring you favorable attention.

Now on to Jupiter's fickle behavior.  He's also part of a T-square that also involves Pluto and Uranus.  Those two have been squared off for months and will continue to do a do-si-do until 2015.  The next time the square will be exact is November 1.  Pluto is in your 2nd house of finances, income, possessions, needs and pleasures while Uranus is in your 5th house of creativity as defined above.  This is not a good time for speculations of a financial nature.  Uranus is unpredictable by nature and while he can bring some brilliant and innovative ideas to your creative activities, when he's squared off with Pluto in your money house this isn't so great.  Pluto transiting your 2nd, which is going to last for several years, will transform this part of your life and right now may not be so pleasant.  You could be experiencing all sorts of breakdowns and discovering hidden flaws in many of your possessions.  If you happen to be engaged in any sort of income that is not entirely above board it is likely to be exposed to your detriment so you're well-advised to steer clear of such things.  Now is a time to examine your budget, life style, and how you can best live within your means.  Jupiter tied in with this indicates whatever these other two trigger is likely to have a transformational effect on you but in a positive way.  This is an excellent time to assess where you are versus where you want to go and take appropriate steps in that direction. 

The Full Moon on August 20 is in Aquarius, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and local travel.  If this sounds too familiar it's because last month's Full Moon was also in Aquarius, making this a Blue Moon as the second one in the same sign within a month.  As always, a Full Moon typically indicates an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase which is likely to affect your thought processes.  This, of course, makes sense if a transformation is in process since that is where it will start.  The Grand Trine is now gone but the T-square remains.  Mercury and the Sun are conjunct in Leo, your 9th house of beliefs which is excellent for acquiring the information you need, especially relative to all matters in that house.  Venus has moved into Libra, sign of her rulership and dignity, which is excellent for networking, group activities, interacting with friends. Setting new goals and coming up with new hopes and wishes.  She is linked up with Saturn to bring a plan for rebuilding that is likely to contain some inspiration and a change of direction relative to your homelife is also implied.  Generally speaking, it looks as if some changes are coming your way, whether or not you're expecting them  Typically Sagittarians are optimistic by nature so use Jupiter's favorable influence at this time to fuel that and look forward to good things to come, even if the road may be a bit rocky getting there.

The Grand Square/Cross on August 25 really doesn't have too many surprises.  Its basis in the T-square involving Pluto, Uranus and Jupiter described above but joined by Venus in Libra.  This is quite a bit of tension but with Jupiter and Venus, two benefic planets in signs they operate nicely within should mitigate it or at least turn it in your favor.  A Grand Sextile comprises six sextiles, an aspect that typically brings opportunity.  However, in this case it could be too much of a good thing.  Furthermore, there are two mystic rectangles involves which consist of two sextile and two oppositions.  These often bring two mutually exclusive opportunities where you can't have your cake and eat it, too.  You may have to give something up to avail yourself of an opportunity or at the least make a choice, even though both may be favorable.

At this time there are planets in 8 of the 12 signs of the zodiac which is a tremendous variety of energies and they're tied together in a variety of ways.  If nothing else, a lot will probably being going on at this time.  The only planet not tied into this planetary reunion of sorts is Mars who is unaspected and thus a potential wildcard.  He is still hanging out in Cancer where he may be very frustrated with so many choices and have a difficult time deciding what to do.  The Sun and Mercury are conjunct in Virgo, your 10th house of career, reputation and status, however, which hints at something going on in that area.  These two are great for gathering information except they are both opposing Neptune, which warns of delusions or being unrealistic.  Don't believe everything you hear or read and before doing anything drastic, get it in writing or verify it the best you can.  This looks like an interesting, active and potentially challenging month so keep careful watch of what's going on around you so you can grab the right opportunity when it comes your way.
