Lunations and Long-term Aspects

This month both Mercury, your sign ruler, and Saturn go retrograde.  As always, Mercury RX, which begins February 23, is not a good time to buy anything electronic or mechanical.  Communications in general are likely to be messed up and frustrating, whether through personal communications, email, documentation, cell phone, internet connection or whatever.  Since you're a sign that thrives on data and information this can be a long, dry spell even though it only lasts for about three weeks.  The key is to recognized how to use that internalized energy.  This is a time to rewrite, review, revise, rethink, repair, reconsider and so forth.  This retrograde period occurs entirely in fellow Mutable Sign, Pisces, your 10th house of career, reputation, status and public image.  Pisces is the sign where Mercury is both in debility AND fall.  The energy there is simply antithetical to Mercury's logic.  Interestingly enough, however, this may not be quite as bad as it may sound for a retrograde period because it's possible that it will open the way for some genuine inspiration, insights and enlightenment sometimes negated by too much logic or common sense.  There are several planets in Pisces this month which will further enhance that energy.  Nonetheless, on the downside, it could also cause a bit of confusion and lack of direction.  Pay attention to what is going on the coming month energy-wise.  If nothing else it will help you recognize what Piscean energy is like and how it tends to operate in your life.

Saturn goes retrograde on February 18 in Scorpio, your 6th house of work, service, health and pets.  With Mercury RX in your house of career and Saturn RX in your house of work, making progress may be a bit of a losing battle.  Saturn RX tends to operate at the subconscious level, gradually bringing something to your attention that needs to be restructured or rebuilt.  Delays and limitations are accentuated as well.  However, during this spell you may discover an entirely new way of doing things or perhaps even a new career.  Saturn is in a Water Sign which trines Pisces so by environment is exuding a similar energy to the Pisces planets.  Water signs operate primarily at the emotional level so pay attention to your gut feelings and intuition during this time for clues what the Universe is trying to tell you.

The New Moon on February 10 is in fellow Air Sign, Aquarius, your 9th house of higher learning, legal matters, expectations, beliefs, religion, politics, long-distance travel, other cultures and so forth.  Watch for something new to come your way in one of these areas, perhaps a touch of luck with Venus there as well.  If your birthday is right around June 12 this lunation will trine your Natal Sun which could bring something rather nice your way.   As noted above, there is a lot of energy accumulating in Pisces with three planets plus the asteroid, Chiron, there at this time.  You may find activities related to your career or status somewhat challenging at this time, particularly with several of them squaring Jupiter which is in your sign and on your natal Sun if your birthday is right around. May 28.  In fact, if that's you, you have probably had some interesting things happening the past few months.  Jupiter is debilitated in Gemini, probably due to a propensity for TMI, or too much information.  Of course no one juggles data as well as a Gemini so for you this may not have been a problem.  You tend to go in several directions at once anyway and probably invented the term "multiplex" but there's a chance that this may not synch up too well if there's a lot of inspiration and/or confusion coming your way from Pisces.  Inspiration can be a good thing and so can lots of ideas but if there is too much of each you may simply wind up with confusion.  Don't try to tackle it all on your own, innovative solutions could come your way through friends, networking or perhaps even other groups or organizations, depending on the situation.

The Full Moon on February 25 is in fellow Mutable sign, Virgo, your 4th house of home environment, memories, new beginnings and cultural roots.  This is likely to bring a culmination or new phase to something in this part of your life.  BY this time there are four planets in Pisces with Venus only a sneeze away, meaning that half of the planets used in modern astrology will be in the same sign.  This lunation creates a T-square with Jupiter in your sign, however, which further implies some conflict, perhaps with a new assignment or the end or demise of an old one.  A friend or networking activities continue to have some potential for finding an innovative solution which could change the course of things.  By this time both Saturn and Mercury are retrograde with their respective duties as noted earlier so it's likely to be an environment where things won't be finalized for a while.  Patience is required to see your way through.

Pluto and Saturn are in partile (same degree) sextile and mutual reception (each in the sign the other rules) which creates a strong correspondence between them.  Saturn is working on something related to you work and Pluto is in your 8th house of transformation where he is accidentally dignified.  Thus, whatever changes are coming in your work, service or health activities will have a transformational effect.  It bears mention, however, that by definition both of these planets are considered malefic and when they get together, even by a usually positive aspect such as a sextile, that the results can sometimes not be positive.  Pay particular attention to your health at this time.  If you are having any issues be sure to get appropriate treatment.  You're probably familiar with the expression "When it rains, it pours" and that is often the result of planetary transits that stir things up in a certain house or houses.  Since a variety of matters are each contained in any given house, if that house is stirred up you are likely to see some form of action in more than one area.  Worst case, Saturn in your 6th could bog things down at work, exacerbate some health condition and bring additional responsibility, all at the same time.  This is certainly not a given, but worth noting if it sounds familiar.  If your birthday is right around June 2nd be especially diligent because Saturn and Pluto will form an aspect pattern known as a yod with your natal Sun which is likely to be quite significant.
