Lunations and Long-term Aspects

Two planets go retrograde this month that are worth noting so you can avoid unnecessary frustration, of which there is enough these days without going toe to toe with a planet.  Saturn puts it in reverse on the 18th and Mercury does likewise on the 23rd.  Saturn, as always, is going to last a while, like to the tune of July, and Mercury will be the usual three weeks.  Saturn is in Scorpio, your 12th house of inspiration, dreams, visions, enlightenment, institutions, collective consciousness, seclusion, confinement, hidden enemies and self-undoing.  He's a bit tucked away in this house but can nonetheless mess with you at the subconscious level, which is what he really specializes in when RX.  His usual message is to restructure something in this part of your life.  Maybe you don't spend enough time in quiet meditation, are ignoring a self-defeating behavior you need to rid yourself of, or have some other matter in this department you need to address.  You may not have a clue what that might be but will probably know by July.  Meanwhile, if you're feeling a bit uncomfortable or restless, it may be whatever it is trying to surface.

Mercury is in Pisces for his entire backstroke stint, which is bad enough, but there's more.  He's also in the sign where he is in debility and fall, meaning that his precision-oriented, logical propensity for objective data is compromised, big time.  Pisces is your 4th house of home environment, memories, cultural roots, endings and new beginnings so there may be some interesting happenings in one or more of those venues at this time, especially if your birthday is right around December 11.  There are other planets in Pisces this month as well, which we'll get to later, that will add to the energy gathering in this part of your life.  As always, the usual Mercury RX admonitions apply, i.e. to not buy anything electronic or mechanical during this time.  Ironically, such things are more likely to break down as well, but it's in your best interest to do without or rent the item rather than replace it at that time.  ESPECIALLY if it happens to be an automobile, unless you have a masochistic streak and enjoy dealing with a lemon.  Positive things to do with this internalized and potentially dysfunctional energy include rethinking, revising, re-planning, repairing, reworking, redesigning and so forth. 

The New Moon on February 10 is in Aquarius, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings and neighbors.  This could bring something new your way in this part of your life.  Venus is there, too, which should bring a bit of luck or turn those thoughts toward love or money.  Saturn is likely to be watching those inclinations, however, from his 12th house hooch, so don't be surprised if a bit of guilt creeps in, whatever it might be.  Your sign ruler, Jupiter, is in Gemini, your polar sign and 7th house of close relationships, where he is in debility.  He tends to gather a bit too much information or TMI over there and get overwhelmed.  He is already prone to exaggerate, anyway, and he's going to be egging Venus along.  However, some resistance will be there from the homefront in Pisces where Neptune, Mars and Mercury are hanging out along with the asteroid, Chiron.  This may irritate you enough that you decide to break free from all that noise and do as you please, but there is likely to be some nasty repercussions if they're done irresponsibly.  These could show up as financial issues or perhaps having to sacrifice some of the things you like.

The Full Moon on February 25 is in Virgo, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status.  Watch for an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase with regard to something there, bearing in mind that "status" covers a whole bunch of ground.  Think of "status" in the Facebook context, which includes anything you make public.  Anything that might appear in the public record (such as traffic violations) or newspaper are in this house.  On the positive side, it also includes recognition and honors.  There may be some issues to address in one or more relationships with regard to whatever it might be as well.  You may be inclined to rebel against any obstacles or friction but do so with caution or there may be hell to pay.

At this time there are four planets in Pisces, Mercury RX, Mars, the Sun and Neptune along with Chiron and Venus a sneeze away at 29:42 Aquarius.  It's hard to say exactly what this planetary convention will do but it's bound to be noticeable.  If you're starting a new endeavor, expect a lot of confusion.  Inspiration will be there, too, but maybe a bit too much pie in the sky.  Rethinking is called for, based on Mercury's RX condition.  The Sun rules your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, philosophy of life, religion, politics, relocation, long-distance travel and relocation so with him in Pisces he may drag some of those issues in as well.  In fact, considering that by the time Venus joins them, the rulers of eight houses, when you consider traditional rulerships, will be there and thus it's highly likely this is going to be quite pervasive.  Your 4th house is an angular house where action is likely to occur which then reverberates throughout your life.  One or more of those planets is likely to square your natal Sun whenever your birthday is given there are so many, either for the lunation or later.  See how that energy feels for future reference.

Saturn and Pluto are in partile (same degree) sextile and mutual reception (in the sign the other rules) which is going to last for a few months, even though the partile part will come and go.  This sets up a very strong correspondence between these two, which have reputations as malefic planets.  As noted earlier, Saturn is in your 12th and Pluto is in your 2nd house of finances, income, possession, needs, comforts and pleasures.  This could set the scene for some interesting urges at the subconscious level as far as what you need or want.  Pluto, for one thing, wants power and Saturn is the natural ruler of authority.  Ponder this combination and how it may show up in your life.  It may be you or you may be the recipient of the energy.  If your birthday is right around November 29th you may experience this lunation quite heavily.  Just be aware of what's going on and look for the lesson.
