Lunations and Long-term Aspects

Two planets go retrograde later this month, Saturn on the 18th and Mercury on the 23rd, so take note and plan accordingly.  Saturn goes retrograde in Scorpio, your polar sign and 7th house of close relationships.  If your birthday is right around May 2nd you are more likely to encounter something related to this retrograde period.  Retrograde energy is internalized with Saturn RX operative at the subconscious level.  You may not even be aware of it until he goes direct again in July.  Meanwhile there may be some sense of something missing or discomfort, perhaps with a specific person, that you can't identify.  Restructuring or rebuilding is the typical mission of this planet so examine your various close relationships for how well they're functioning and whether any should be remodeled a bit.  Expect delays and restrictions with everything generally moving much slower during this time.

Mercury goes retrograde on the 23rd in Pisces, your 11th house of goals, friends, organizations, groups and networking.  Mercury RX is a time to rethink, rewrite, reconsider, revise, repair and so forth.  Communications in this part of your life may be difficult, confusing, and misunderstood during this time. In particular you may want to take a close look at your goals, how you are progressing toward them and any way you could improve upon your current plan.  As always, avoid purchasing any new mechanical or electronic devices during this time, especially something like a car which would be destined to be a lemon.  Ironically, it's common for appliances and autos to break down during this time since the energy is messed up.  It's in your best interest, if possible, to rent or do without until the retrograde period is over, better yet, the shadow period as well, before buying a replacement.  On a personal note, I had a refrigerator go out during Mercury RX a few years ago.  I lived out of an ice chest for two or three weeks, which was all sorts of fun, but I live in about 15 miles from town so daily shopping has dim appeal.  A few days after Mercury went direct I bought a new one.  It has seemed to work okay, as far as it goes, but it makes all sorts of weird noises, as if it were haunted, and the handle tends to fall off.  Bottom line, next time I'll wait out the shadow period.

The New Moon on February 10th is in fellow Fixed Sign, Aquarius, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status.  This could bring a new development to something in this part of your life, particularly if your birthday is right around May 12.  With your sign ruler, Venus, there as well, this should reflect on you in a favorable way, perhaps even bringing a bonus or raise thanks to Jupiter in your 2nd house of income, possessions, comforts, needs, and pleasures.  That is a rather nice placement for Jupiter so take advantage of it.  Pay attention to any intuitive flashes you may have that may relate to ways for increasing your income or something else in that part of your life.

Unfortunately, there are a few things working against it, i.e. a whole bunch of planets hanging out in Pisces, your 11th house of groups, organizations, friends, networking and goals.  This could come in the form of demands from people in this part of your life who have a draining effect on your finances.  It could also be a result of pursuing your goals, which are turning out to be more expensive than originally thought.  These goals could also originate with someone close to you, either a spouse or business partner.  Jupiter rules your 8th house of shared resources so just make sure that you hang onto what is rightfully yours and don't allow someone in your life to function as a money pit.  Likewise, don't be a spendthrift or leach yourself.

The Full Moon on February 25 is in fellow Earth Sign, Virgo, your 5th house of ego definition, creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation.  Usually this type of lunation will bring a culmination, ending or shift to a new phase of something related to the house in which it occurs.  By this time both Saturn and Mercury are retrograde so the effects noted earlier will be there.  Jupiter is at the apex of a T-square with the Sun and Moon comprising the Full Moon which again looks as if it could be a financial issue of some sort.  It may not necessarily be unfortunate, perhaps you'll complete a project of some sort and get paid for it, but if that's the case it's likely there will be numerous people or entities waiting to get their hands on any money that comes into your hands.

At this point there are four planets in Pisces as well as the asteroid, Chiron, and your sign ruler, Venus, is but a sneeze away.  At the least I would expect a lot of group activity during this time and as noted earlier it's an excellent time to review your goals.  Note how all the Pisces energy feels, which should be easier than usual to identify with so much there.  Half of the planets used in modern astrology are all in the same sign which is fairly unusual.  Continue to listen for inspiration on how to expand your interests and also be willing to make a few adjustments, which could come on unexpectedly.  Saturn RX and Pluto are in partile (same degree) sextile and mutual reception (occupying the sign the other rules) which provides them with a powerful thrust of energy.  This is when there are likely to be some rumblings with regard to a relationship.  It's also possible that your responsibilities have or will increase in this area.  Pluto is in your 9th house which includes higher learning, legal matters, beliefs, expectations, religion, politics, other cultures, and long-distance travel.  His general function is transformation and eliminating anything you no longer need.  He also has a lot of influence on power and control issues.  If you're in a relationship where power and control are issues then this aspect is likely to accentuate it.  Whether you are the controller or controllee, Saturn is going to have something to say about what is going on.  You may not know what that happens to be until July or so, but pay attention because it's likely to be important.
