Happy New Year, Aquarians!  So far most of us have dodged that 12/21/2012 bullet that predicted global annihilation even though there have been some localized disasters, which are likely to continue.  As noted last month, the chart for that date was not ominous enough astrologically to indicate the apocalypse was upon us. The chart for the 2011 Tuscaloosa tornado, which you can find in the astroblog section, was by far much worse.  So bad, in fact, that when I showed it to non-astrologers, even they could see it looked like a very bad day.  The Capricorn ingress chart, while unique and interesting with that partile (same degree) yod, indicated something is on the way which it is more likely to relate to your consciousness.  Meanwhile, until you see all us astrologers heading for bunkers in the Rocky Mountains, don't worry too much about worldwide catastrophe.  Just a note, however, that the transit chart alone is only part of the story.  It's how it connects with the charts of individuals, countries, cities, corporations, and so forth that will really tell the story, which is a pretty strong case for keeping a qualified astrologer on retainer, don't you think?

The New Moon this month is on January 11th in nextdoor neighboring sign, Capricorn, your 12th house of angels and demons which includes everything from the cosmic soup to nutjobs.  Seriously.  It includes dreams, visions, the collective consciousness, institutions, hidden enemies, self-undoing, spirituality and deception, to name a few.  Capricorn is loaded for this lunation, providing a lot of energy given the presence of the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Pluto and Venus.  Generally speaking, this is great for daydreaming and coming up with a coherent vision of what you'd like to achieve in this coming year, right in tune with the concept of New Year's Resolutions.  I personally like to think of them more as goals and as I've mentioned previously in the daily astrocasts, take a few moments to write them down.  This programs your subconscious and also puts the Universe on notice for what you're looking for.  Placing the list where you will see it at least once a day also helps.  Then, a year from now, take a look and see what you have accomplished, often without giving it deliberate thought or action.  Of course if you do, the chances are even greater of getting there.

Mars is in your sign which will give you plenty of drive and energy at the personal level.  However, with Saturn in your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status, you may encounter some obstacles, perhaps additional responsibilities or obligations that slow you down a bit.  Nonetheless, you thrive on a good challenge and Saturn is your traditional sign ruler so his energy should be familiar.  As always, remember that you need to use this energy or it will use you.  Put it to work going after something you want.  Are you happy with your current status or career?  All that 12th house energy should help you identify what you REALLY want and if you've been ignoring it, maybe it's time you took action instead.

Neptune is in your 2nd house of finances, income, possessions, needs and pleasures.  While Neptune can be a bit dreamy, prone to fantasizing and lazy, some astrologers believe that he is the key to amassing large sums of money.  This fits in nicely with the "thoughts become things" philosophy of manifesting what you want through visualizing your intentions then taking appropriate steps toward making them happen.  You modern sign ruler, Uranus, is in Aries, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings and neighbors which should be useful for innovative thinking and the ability to break from any traditions or habits which are holding you back.  All those 12th house planets can help you figure out what that might be as well, especially with Mercury, ruler of your 8th house which includes those things you suppress, one of them.  Jupiter is in your house of creativity which will be helpful as well.  If anything he may give you more ideas than you can bring to fruition so write them down as they come so they don't get lost.  If your birthday is right around January 26th you have a special advantage you should exploit.

The Full Moon on January 26 is in your polar sign, Leo, which is also your 7th house of close relationships.  This includes your significant other, close friends and relatives, business professionals and partners as well as cliental if you're in business for yourself.  Again, those of you born around January 26 - 27 are most likely to see something significant.  In other words, when a lunation occurs on a natal planet, especially your Sun, it is likely to do something that's hard to miss.  Furthermore, the past several months and into the next few the lunations have been occurring in about the same degrees of each sign so if you have planets at 21 degrees or 7 degrees you are probably seeing quite a bit going on lately.

This lunation brings numerous opportunities that can mitigate any challenges.  Thus, if you think you're stuck, think again, because there is probably a way to get around it.  It may take innovation, confidence, imagination and emotional commitment, but is possible.  By this time the Sun, Mercury and Mars are all in your sign to lend some personalized help in this regard.  Unearthing information related to the career you want to build is favored as well, including identifying that dream job.  Imagination and creativity are essential but don't be too quick to dump money you don't have into it just yet.  Rather watch for opportunities and support from others to get it off the ground.
