Here we are in 2013, despite various ominous predictions of apocalyptic events associated with the end of the Mayan calendar.  As noted last month, the chart for 12/21/2012 was not indicative of global catastrophe.  It was an interesting and somewhat unusual chart but its theme was more of transformational consciousness change than annihilation and has interesting implications for those born under the influence of that long-term yod.  Having looked at various charts for catastrophic events, particularly severe storms which can be found in the astroblog section, it's apparent that bad things do show up astrologically.  Prediction, however, is quite a crap shoot due to the variety of ways in which it can express itself as well as the influence of free will.  While transits alone sometimes carry nasty implications, it's how they interact with the charts of others, whether they be individuals, countries or corporations, is usually the key.  This is why ancient kings and emperors had astrologers, to watch out for such things.  You didn't really think they had them to understand their psychological makeup, did you?

As a new year begins Cappies also start a new solar cycle.  Making and sticking to New Year's Resolutions is easier for you, not only because you are more serious, ambitious and organized than others but because this truly is a new beginning for you.  If you haven't already done so, write down your goals and hopes for the year and post it somewhere you'll see it often.  This programs your subconscious as well as advises the Universe to bring them your way.  The New Moon on January 11 is in your sign and on your natal Sun if your birthday is right around January 11 - 12, making it part of your solar return which implies a year with many new beginnings.  Capricorn is loaded with planets at this time which brings even more energy your way.  Communication and thought energy is high, your charm is enhanced and Pluto continues to emit transformational energy which will be most apparent for those of you born around December 31.

Neptune is transiting Pisces, sign of his rulership and your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and local travel.  Neptune is great for inspiration but can also be delusional.  As an Earth Sign you tend to be practical and realistic so this shouldn't be too much of a problem, but be aware of the possibility.  Feeling a bit foggy mentally is possible as well as deception.  However, I have heard it said that Neptune is the key planet for delivering large sums of money which makes sense if you know anything about the concept of "thoughts become things" or visualizing your intentions.  Thus, using Saturn's discipline you can use this influence to manifest what you want.  Uranus is in fellow Cardinal Sign, Aries, your 4th house of home environment, new beginnings and cultural roots and squaring your natal Sun if your birthday is right around December 26.  This brings the potential for sudden, unexpected change that takes you in a new direction.  Put it to good use, particularly as it applies to your work, job or current projects.  Jupiter is in your 6th house which governs such things and helping you ponder and discover the means necessary to expand this part of your life.

The Full Moon on January 26 is in Leo, your 8th house of transformations, suppression, sex, death, debt and shared resources.  This works nicely to help you achieve a change of direction which is likely to involve money in some way.  Finances are highlighted for you when the Sun is in Aquarius which will further help you analyze this part of you life and what to do to bring it up to your expectations.  Numerous opportunities are all around you if you watch carefully.  If you're in a Cappy gloom and doom mode you may not see them or discount them before you even start.  Look at the benefits and opportunities as opposed to any obstacles which you'll be able to overcome as required.  Doing whatever is required, even if it means changing your personality and behavior, is possible and receiving astrological assistance so put it to good use and start out this new year with a bang.
