Here we are, Leo, in 2013, in spite of all the doom and gloom predictions we were bombarded with pertaining to the end of the Mayan calendar on 12/21/2012.  As noted last month astrologically the transits for that day were simply not sufficiently ominous to indicate global annihilation.  I have seen much worse charts for earthquakes, tornados and hurricanes, which can be found in the astroblogs.  Nonetheless, it is not just the transit chart but how it interacts with the chart of an individual, city, country, corporation or other entity which truly indicates the result.  After all, regardless of the event there are always some that escape or even benefit.  Meanwhile, as a general rule, I wouldn't worry too much unless you see all us astrologers heading for secure bunkers in the Rocky Mountains.  My favorite approach is to prepare for the worst but hope for the best.

The New Moon on January 11 is in Capricorn, your 6th house of work, health, service and pets.  First of all I'd like to point out that those of you born right around July 30 (7 degrees Leo) or August 14 (21 degrees Leo) have probably been seeing quite a bit of action lately.  This is because for the past few months and the next two months at least the New and Full Moons have been occurring at those degrees.  The November lunations were also eclipses which gave them even more punch to get something started, then reactivated each subsequent month.  Since your sign ruler is the Sun it's likely that the effect is even stronger for you and nextdoor neighboring sign, Cancer, ruled by the Moon.  So, that said, let's see what else is going on.  For this lunation there's a lot of energy in Capricorn given the presence of the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Pluto and Venus.  Thus, it will be pretty unusual if you don't see something significant in this part of your life.  A change of direction is possible, so give it some thought.

Saturn in your 4th house of home environment, memories, cultural roots and endings/new beginnings may be putting a damper on this part of your life lately.  Saturn spends about two years in each sign and he's currently about a third of the way through, so this will go on for a while longer.  Currently he is squaring your natal Sun if your birthday is right around August 2 which increases the influence.  Increased responsibilities or obligations, dealing with unpleasant memories, or delays are highly likely which may be exacerbated by health or work issues.  Nonetheless, taking control of what you can in either venue can have positive effects on the other, so bear that in mind.

Uranus in fellow Fire Sign, Aries, your 9th house of beliefs and expectations, suggests breaking away from old paradigms as well as developing your own unique view of the world, independent of what others may try to impose upon you.  Your situation, whatever it may be, is not "one size fits all" so feel good about being the individual you are and forming your own opinions.  Jupiter in Gemini, your 11th house of friends, organizations, groups, networking and goals suggests expanding your social circle and various benefits and luck to be had in that part of your life.  You're a social person to begin with so if your life is stressful in other areas this offers a good place for relaxing and enjoying yourself.  Leos are playful by nature and don't do well with too much seriousness or trouble so don't feel guilty having some fun, regardless of your circumstances.  With Mars in your 7th house of relationships you may be in a somewhat contentious situation with someone close to you.  Mars rules your 9th house of beliefs and expectations as noted above so this suggests you may need to revisit what you expect from others and perhaps making a few adjustments, specifically as they relate to shared responsibilities.

The Full Moon on January 26 is in your sign and right on your natal Sun if your birthday is right around July 30.  If you're having relationship issues there are some useful vibes at this time for communicating to work things out, particularly as they may relate to employment and home responsibilities.  Letting go of old paradigms continues to predominate along with resolving past issues or discarding anything that isn't working whether it's an old appliance or interpersonal communications.  There are several opportunities out there along with the challenges which suggests that whatever the obstacles happen to be you can find a means to get around them.  These will involve working out those relationship issues, innovative solutions, setting new goals, nurturing your social life and emotional commitment to find positive solutions.  Borrowing or loaning money, especially if it involves a friend, is discouraged, but if financial issues are bothering you someone close to you may have some ideas for alternate solutions.
