As you have probably noticed by now, the world at large made it to 2013 in spite of various dire predictions derived from the Mayan calendar.  As noted last month, the chart for 12/21/2012 simply wasn't sufficiently ominous enough to indicate global annihilation.  This is not to say that all those things won't eventually come to pass, only that it wasn't going to be on that date.  One of the worst charts I've ever seen was for the Tuscaloosa tornado back in 2011 which you can find here and that was only for one specific area.  Transit charts in and of themselves don't tell the entire story.  What really counts is how they connect with the charts of individuals, places, countries or corporations, which can also explain how some people will escape a disaster that devastates everyone else in the area.

The New Moon on January 11 is in fellow Cardinal Sign, Capricorn, your 4th house of home environment, new beginnings, memories and cultural roots, making this an excellent time to start something new, whatever it might be.  If your birthday is right around October 14 this lunation will square your natal Sun and make it more likely to indicate something significant in one of those areas.  Mercury, Pluto and your sign ruler, Venus, are each contributing energy to Capricorn at this time which gives it even more punch.  If your birthday is around October 2, Pluto is squaring your natal Sun which will further push you toward leaving something behind so you can begin anew or make room for something new.  With Uranus cruising through your 7th house of relationships you can expect various surprises, disruptions and disturbances in that part of your life which will take up time and energy.  Knowing you dislike contention that will make it even more annoying if it's involved as well.  Resolving issues from the past is one theme which may involve and cause some discomfort.  Just bear in mind that sometimes things get worse before they get better, one example being situations where surgery is required to remove disease.  Changing your current beliefs or accepting a different view of life than you've previously held may be required as well, particularly if you've been a bit too opinionated or judgmental.

You may be dealing with financial issues or frustrations with Saturn in your 2nd house of income, possessions, needs and pleasures.  Saturn slows things down, sometimes to a snail's pace, and can institute new boundaries, restrictions or obstacles.  If you have children, you may find that at this time they are costing more than expected.  Romantic relationships may as well, likewise pursuing speculative activities or simply things you enjoy.  This is a time for close scrutiny of your spending habits and eliminating anything you really don't need.  There may be numerous unknowns with respect to your work, which is going to be the case for a long time as Neptune transits your 6th house.  Watch your health as well, though maladies may be difficult to identify and diagnose.  Your imagination with both work and your health may be overactive but inspirational as well.  If you're in an occupation that involves inspiration this can be very helpful or if you're involved in a Neptune-ruled job such as anything related to oil, water or other liquids, photography, the film industry or fantasy in general.  Daydreaming could be a problem if your job is boring or entirely entrenched in reality.

The Full Moon on January 26 is in Leo, your 11th house of friends, goals, hopes, wishes, groups, networking and organizations.  This will bring a culmination or shift to a new phase for something in this part of your life.  Remember that this won't necessarily be earth-shattering but simply seem part of the natural flow of life and events.  Creativity is emphasized this month so put it to good use.  Defining who you are and what you want or need is good mind fodder, then taking action to get what you want.  Opportunities abound with this lunation in areas which include your finances, relationships, beliefs and goals.  Most of the challenges out there are mitigated by something to assist you in overcoming them, provided you're willing to change or accept a new idea or point of view.  Innovation and thinking outside the proverbial box may be just the ticket out of a dilemma.  Allow new thoughts and ideas to congeal into beliefs that replace old ones that are no longer valid.  This looks to be a busy month but one which will be productive and set a new course for the year to come.
