Apparently the Mayans were wrong.  Either that or the various self-proclaimed pundits were wrong in claiming that the end of their calendar meant the end of the world.  Of course there were people out there exploiting people's fears and still will be for some time to come because disasters and catastrophes are inevitable sooner or later.  Nonetheless, as noted last month, the chart for 12/21/2012 was not sufficiently ominous to indicate global annihilation.  I have seen much nastier looking charts for earthquakes, tornados and hurricanes which had a much more localized effect, as you can see in the astroblogs section.  Furthermore, a transit chart alone does not tell the entire story since it depends on how it interacts with the charts of individuals, countries, cities, governments, corporations and so forth.  Which is why it's a good idea for such entities to keep a qualified astrologer on retainer.  There are always people who escape damage or worse and those who benefit from disasters, so making sweeping inclusive claims of apocalyptic events is seldom correct.  After all, the asteroid that took out the dinosaurs millions of years ago was a good day for critters living below ground.  Bottom line, if you ever see a mass exodus of astrologers heading for secure bunkers in the Rocky Mountains, then you may want to start worrying. 

This month the New Moon on January 11 is in Capricorn, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, neighbors, siblings and local travel.  The sign is packed with energy coming from the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Pluto and Venus, so expect lots of activity in this part of your life.  If your birthday is right around November 13th look for a specific opportunity to come your way.  In fact, if that's your birthday you have probably already seen quite a bit of action the last month or two and it will continue into the spring.  The reason?  Because those who have their natal Sun at 21 degrees of any sign have been bombarded by New Moons since November's energy-packing solar eclipse.  Also affected would be those with their natal Sun at 7 degrees (Scorpios born right around October 31st) who have been "hit" by the lunar eclipse and subsequent Full Moons.  Nothing will jump-start your life like being in the line of fire of several lunations which will change slightly in character month to month due to changes in the aspect.  This one is a sextile which typically is favorable and brings an opportunity but next month it will be a square which will bring a challenge. 

Saturn is currently in your sign and will be there for a little more than a year since he's only about 1/3 of the way through.  If your birthday is right around November 3 he is on your natal Sun.  This is usually a somewhat trying transit which will potentially slow things down to a snail's pace, force new responsibilities and discipline upon you or an increase in being organized.  The sextile to your modern sign ruler, Pluto, however, is a good thing and indicates benefits will come from it.  Pluto will also help you eliminate anything you no longer need, including useless thoughts or ideas which could be holding you back.  Your traditional ruler, Mars, however, is in your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories and new beginnings/endings, and squaring Saturn which suggests some resistance to starting something new or getting anything accomplished at home.  Those of you with a birthday right around November 17 should watch for something new to come into your life about this time as well as the North Lunar Node conjoins your Sun.

Upsets, disruptions and a hectic pace at work is still likely and will be as long as Uranus is in Aries, which will be a long, long time.  Uranus rules such things but also freedom, rebellion, innovation and technology in general.  Thus, if you're in a line of work that includes one of those things it can be quite useful.  Currently he is sextile Jupiter in your 8th house of shared resources, sex, death and regeneration, debt and secrets which could bring something favorable your way in this part of your life, perhaps even money since Jupiter rules your 2nd house of income.

The Full Moon on January 26 is in fellow Fixed Sign, Leo, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status.  This is not a very good time for speculative ventures, particularly if it involves shared resources.  Deception or exaggeration is likely to be involved which may not end well.  Thus, if you're pondering such a thing make sure you use your Scorpio discernment to flush out all the facts and go with your gut feeling.  Moving forward is probably still slower than you'd prefer but there are several opportunities out there this month to watch for which can help mitigate any obstacles.  Getting organized, whether it involves a cleaning frenzy or defining new goals, is favored.  Work is likely to be lively and hectic as ever and you may have to change your thinking about a few things.  If you're clinging to your own way of doing things you may be forced to let it go.  Nonetheless, watch for opportunities which are likely to involve innovative, expansive ideas that could operate at a transformational level and contribute to a greater emotional commitment to what you really want to achieve, particularly with regard to your career.
