Capricorn Horoscope

This is a busy month astrologically with not only the usual two lunations but two unusual planetary configurations which will be interesting to observe on the personal and mundane level. One is a Grand Trine and the other essentially doubling that into two Grand Trines or a Grand Sextile. Now I can just hear you saying we already had a Grand Trine and you may even be sick of hearing about it. However, this one is slightly different. The previous ones have come and gone rather quickly as Venus, Mercury, and the Sun passed through Cancer and connected with Neptune in Pisces and Saturn in Scorpio. However, this month Jupiter moves into that position and being a slower moving outer planet is not only influential on a different level but slower moving. All three planets will be in the same degree on July 17 which is when the influence will be at its peak. But more on that in its proper order chronologically.

First, the New Moon, which occurs on July 8 in your polar sign, Cancer, your 7th house of relationships including your significant other, close friends and relatives, business partners, business professionals, cliental and competitors. What for someone new to come into your life in one of those categories, especially if your birthday is right around January 7. This lunation is in a somewhat sloppy T-square with the Uranus - Pluto square, however, which bears mention. Those of your born right around New Year's Day are probably aware (perhaps painfully) that Pluto is conjunct your natal Sun which is going to result in a major transformation and ultimate realization of your personal power by the time he's done having his way with you. Uranus is in your 4th house of home environment, new beginnings and endings, cultural roots and memories which suggests the potential for a struggle with your past and breaking free from it. This lunation can trigger that process which is going to be a challenge yet well worth the effort in the long haul.

Also in your 7th house are Jupiter, ruler of your 12th house of dreams, visions, subconscious, enlightenment, inspiration, seclusion, confinement, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing. This philosophical giant is actually a pretty nice ruler for this domain, however, which provides a touch of optimism and a philosophical approach. He's also traditional ruler of your house of thoughts, ideas, siblings and neighbors. These rulerships suggest that these areas may come into play as well, perhaps as they relate to someone close to you or are brought your way through one of those means. Mercury is also in Cancer which provides an emotional spin to communications but that is not all bad, especially since most Cappies are not particularly openly emotional even though at times it is appropriate, especially to express affection to those you love.

Venus is in your 8th house of transformations, sex, death and regeneration, shared resources, debt, intense experiences, and things you suppress or hide. She rules, appropriately, your 5th house of romance, ego definition, self-expression, creativity, children, entertainment and speculation. Those of you born around January 3 are most likely to feel her presence as she draws you in a slightly different direction, perhaps in an unexpected manner which constitutes a new beginning.

Now for that Grand Water Trine comprising Neptune, Jupiter and your sign ruler, Saturn, which is present for the New Moon but not exact until July 17. That is thus a good date to remember in case there is something related to this energy you want to focus and use. Neptune is in Pisces, sign he rules and thus where he is in dignity and can function to his fullest capacity. As your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings and neighbors, this can be particularly inspirational and enlightening, at least for the most part. Don't forget that he can also be delusional and deceptive, but in a trine he is more likely to manifest in a positive way. Furthermore, you're a practical enough soul that you're not as likely to get carried away as some other signs. Jupiter, the next component, is in Cancer, sign of his exaltation, so he is also able to function beautifully in your 7th house of relationships. He is conjunct Mars which is helpful for taking action though mars is in the sign of his fall where he can sometimes get tangled up in emotion or express as a temper tantrum, particularly if you don't get what you want. Pluto is eyeing these two across the zodiac from your sign so be aware of this influence and don't put too much power behind whatever you're trying to say. Maintain a balance between maintaining your personal authority, being assertive, yet optimistic.

The final component is your sign ruler, Saturn, who gratefully came out of retrograde on July 7. When Saturn is RX it seems that everything moves in slow motion if it moves at all so this is good news. While retrograde his mission is often to dredge up from your subconscious something that needs to be restructured. With him in your 11th house this relates to your friends, group associations, organizational ties, goals, hopes and wishes. So one way this could manifest is that you have some inspiration that could come your way through a sibling or neighbor if not your own ruminations which will rework your goals and bring new people into your life, perhaps those you need to pursue your aspirations. Note, however, that Mercury is retrograde for this grand event. This is not necessarily a bad thing but goes hand in hand with Saturn's remodeling and can help you rethink, revise, reconsider, edit or whatever changes are required to make this work. This could be when you decide upon an entirely new path and set to work changing a few things to pave the way.

The Full Moon on July 22 is in nextdoor neighboring sign, Aquarius, your 2nd house of income, finances, possessions, needs, pleasures and what you value. That Grand Water Trine is still there, this time with Jupiter and Mars in partile conjunction. Mercury is now direct but still in shadow but the wheels should start turning nonetheless. A few adjustments to your view toward money and such is required and how it relates to your career and status as well as your creativity. Romantic interests and children may be involved as well and your expectations. There are two T-squares associated with this lunation which will relate to Saturn's activities with respect to your friends, goals or group activities and your money situation. With the Sun entering your 8th house of transformations you can expect to encounter a few interesting experiences or situations in that venue. The other one involves the Uranus - Pluto square and Mercury which could be the challenge of dealing with someone and perhaps breaking away from their control or vice versa. This could relate to your job in some way or simply be part of what needs to be done to set out on that new path.

The Grand Sextile occurs on July 29 (July 30 for those of you on the other side of the International Date Line). I suggest you follow that link and take a look at the chart which somewhat defies description. It reminds me of the facets of a cut gemstone and generally has favorable implications, particularly for Earth and Water signs. In essence, there is not only the Grand Water Trine already described but now that one is joined by a Grand Earth Trine, even though it won't last very long since the third component is the fast-moving Moon. Nonetheless, this is a lot of positive energy bouncing around in our local spacetime. However, like most diamonds, there are a few flaws. There are also three oppositions to deal with. Another aspect pattern appearing in this conglomeration is a Mystic Rectangle, three of them, actually, which always includes two oppositions connecting the diagonal corners. What this can bring is two mutually exclusive benefits where you have to choose one or the other.

Brace yourself because you could suddenly be caught amidst so much going on that you can't possibly do it all, somewhat like the diligent high school student who applies for a multitude of scholarships and receives them, yet has to decide which one to choose. The state of indecision is one of the most uncomfortable places to be so that is one possibility, in spite of all that good energy. Expect some challenges, probably a few from family or 7th house people. Another contributor to the conflict will be the fact this occurs at the waning quarter Moon which can set your head and heart at odds with one another. If that's the case I recommend going with your heart. As I look back on my life I find the times I went with what my head and logic told me to do over my heart that ultimately I found that I did not make the right choice. For what it's worth, I recommend you follow your dreams and your heart. Bon chance.

Due to its rather short duration due to the involvement of the Moon you may want to do so at the time it's in effect which is 18:39 GMT which translates to 1:39 p.m. EDT, 12:39 p.m. CDT, 11:39 a.m. MDT and 10:39 a.m. PDT.
