This month the New Moon on July 8 kicks off a month with some interesting astrological influences. It may sounds like yesterday's news but there will be a significant Grand Water Trine out there worth noting. Granted, there have been a few of those the past month or so, but this one will be stronger and longer lasting since the third component will be another outer planet, namely Jupiter, instead of Mercury, Venus or the Sun which move on their way much quicker. Furthermore, it's the outer planets that drive the themes of your life with the inner ones more influential on daily events and situations. There will also be a rare configuration known as a Grand Sextile that has numerous interesting implications. But first, let's look at the New Moon, or at least its aspects since as you should know a New Moon is invisible.

The New Moon on July 8 occurs in nextdoor neighboring sign, Cancer, your 12th house of spirituality, enlightenment, inspiration, dreams, visions, seclusion, confinement, institutions, subconscious, the collective consciousness, hidden enemies and self-undoing. Mercury is currently retrograde in that vicinity which will prompt rethinking and reconsidering something related to that part of your life. In a rather sloppy T-square with this lunation are the ominous pair, Uranus and Pluto who are still squared off but gratefully separating. We won't see the last of that explosive combination until after March 2015, however, so don't get too excited. It will be back in November as well so enjoy it while it lasts. Meanwhile, for now the square is still in orb so we still have to deal with it. Pluto is in your 6th house of work, health, service and pets which is likely to bring power struggles, control freaks, dirty little secrets and numerous other things to bear. Monitor your health carefully as well during this time, especially this month for those of you born right around August 3. Whatever is going on is likely to grate against your subconscious; watch your back as well for those who may try to undermine you.

Uranus in fellow Fire Sign, Aries, is in your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, philosophy of life, higher learning, legal matters, other cultures, long-distance travel and relocation. Uranus is the planet that rules such things as rebellions, anything unique or unconventional, breakthroughs, and of course such things as explosions, lightning and tornadoes on the mundane scene. He is unpredictable by nature and is likely to incite you to rebel against anything resembling authority or a restrictive belief system. Clearly you will not respond well to someone on a power trip when you have this sort of influence in your house of attitude, which somewhat sums up the square between Uranus and Pluto but the lunation ties it into your subconscious as well where it has the potential to get on your last nerve. Luckily, Venus is in Leo where she will not only enhance your natural appearance but likewise your charm such that people will be more tolerant of your occasional explosions. You may even be able to do so in such a way that those around you totally agree and admire how you handle the situation. Mars is in Gemini, your 11th house of friends, groups, organizations, goals, hopes and wishes but unaspected, meaning his energy is bouncing around, essentially all dressed up with no where to go. Trying to figure out a new goal under this is not very promising but remember that Mercury is retrograde so it's not quite time for that, anyway.

On the positive side is the Grand Water Trine. Jupiter moved into Cancer about a week before the New Moon which will be a nice shift of energy from his sojourn in Gemini where his nickname was "TMI" for "too much information." In Cancer his expansive, benevolent nature can find full expression which can bring some solace to your rattled subconscious. Saturn is in Scorpio, another Fixed Sign, and your 4th house of home environment, memories, cultural roots, endings and new beginnings, where he has just come out of retrograde. While retrograde his mission is to stir up something at the subconscious level that needs to be restructured. Now that he is direct you probably know what it is and he will help you with that process along with some luck and inspiration from Jupiter. The final component is Neptune in Pisces where Neptune can also function true to form in the sign he rules. Pisces is your 8th house of transformations, death and rebirth, debt, shared resources, intense experiences, sex, and things you suppress or hide. Neptune is natural ruler of dreams and inspiration as the ruler of the zodiacal 12th house. These infusions of profound insights can definitely have a life-changing effect and help you along the road to a new and fulfilling new beginning. Thus, all the frustration you're dealing with is driving you to something new. As a Fixed Sign you probably don't like change so you need some motivation, which difficulties can provide.

The Grand Trine is at its peak on July 17 (July 18 for those of you on the other side of the International Dateline or IDL). At this time the opposition at work could be fairly intense but fuel your subconscious resolve to do something about it. Take some time, even a few minutes, to ponder that Grand Trine and its energy and draw it into yourself to fuel your resolve to restructure a few things and find a greater sense of peace and fulfillment in your life.

The Full Moon on July 22 is in your polar sign, Aquarius, your 7th house of close relationships including your significant other, close friends and relatives, business partners and professionals, competitors and open enemies. Full Moons typically bring an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase so see what this brings your way as the Sun moves into your sign and prepares your for a new year. It's solar return time when the Sun returns to its natal position and sets the tone for the coming year. Venus has moved into your 2nd house of finances, possessions, needs and pleasures where the need category made give you the nudge you need to change a few directions, perhaps involving someone close to you such as your significant other. That new beginning isn't at its easiest phase by any means so don't expect it to be a cakewalk. At least now Mercury is direct, albeit in a T-square with Uranus and Pluto, trying to sort out your sense of rebellion and figure out what to do about that power struggle. Remember you're literally on the cusp of a new cycle so next month is going to set them in motion, one way or the other.

That Grand Sextile occurs on July 29 (July 30 for the other side of the IDL). This is one case where a picture is worth a thousand words so I encourage you to take a look at the chart, even if you don't know squat about astrology. As you can see there is strong symmetry which forms a pattern that resembles the facets on a cut gemstone. If you consider how gems are cut to reflect light you can consider how the planetary energy will be reflected and reverberate during this particular configuration. It won't last for long because one component is the fast-moving Moon but will nonetheless have interesting effects. Generally speaking sextiles bring opportunities but in this case there could be as many as six of them. The Grand Water Trine is still there and joined by a Grand Earth Trine.

Also embedded in the pattern is an aspect pattern known as a Mystic Rectangle, three of them actually, which may lend a bit of a clue to what to expect from this planetary kaleidoscope. A Mystic Rectangle often brings two opportunities that are mutually exclusive making you choose one or the other because you can't have both without a complicated balancing act. Think of going to an elegant buffet with all your favorite foods then being handed a small saucer that you can fill but once. The three oppositions inherent in this pattern may lend some clues on what to expect. Your subconscious is probably going to demand action regarding that control situation. Also watch for an emotional situation that affects both home and career and all that restructuring and new beginning. Also watch for money implications where you need to balance practical reality with a life-changing situation that beckons you somewhere new. It's not likely to be easy but probably rewarding and a jump start toward something new.

At any rate you might want to ponder what the energy feels like. Because of its rather short duration due to the involvement of the Moon you may want to do so at the time it's in effect which is 18:39 GMT which translates to 1:39 p.m. EDT, 12:39 p.m. CDT, 11:39 a.m. MDT and 10:39 a.m. PDT.
