Lunations and Long-term Aspects This month is loaded with interesting astrological configurations which have special meaning for Scorpio. Besides the usual New and Full Moon there's a Grand Water Trine which is stronger and more enduring than the ones that occurred in June which were formed by fast-movers Venus, Mercury and the Sun. The last week of June Jupiter entered Cancer, sign of his exaltation, and proceeded to hook up with that Saturn - Neptune trine. As an outer planet, Jupiter moves more slowly, taking about a year to get through each sign. Outer planets are also the thematic drivers of your life as well as the mundane scene, including weather, while the inner planets trigger events and situations that support those themes. There is also a rare planetary configuration known as a Grand Sextile which takes place on July 29 (July 30 for those of you on the other side of the International Dateline or IDL). More on that to follow. First, the New Moon which occurs on July 8 in fellow Water Sign, Cancer, your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, legal matters, philosophy of life, religion, politics, higher education, other cultures, long-distance travel and relocation. Watch for something new to come your way in one of these areas, especially if your birthday is right around November 9. The lunation forms a rather loose T-square with that Uranus - Pluto square that's been stirring things up for a while now. That square will be in effect on and off until Spring 2015 with the next exact connection this fall on November 1. That is not particularly good news for those of you who will have that to deal with the entire year on your solar return but luckily no one can handle Pluto as well as a Scorpio and in spite of them forming a square they hit your chart with slightly less harsh aspects, at least as far as your Sun is concerned. Pluto is in Capricorn, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and local travel which is actually a fairly nice placement, at least for you. You already have a very strong sense of discernment so Pluto gives you a rather nice boost. No problem there. Uranus is in Aries, your 6th house of work, health, service and pets which is going to liven things up on the work scene and could also have health implications. Nonetheless, the simplest interpretation of this aspect is that anything unexpected that goes on at work you will get to the bottom of, even if you don't particularly like what you discover. If you are in a line of work such as forensics, auditing, oil exploration or possibly even engineering this can be a very useful bit of energy for showing your stuff and getting some favorable recognition for your seemingly uncanny abilities. And speaking of recognition, Venus is currently transiting your 10th house of career, public image, reputation and status. Status covers a broad range of possibilities such as anything you post of Facebook or might find in the public record or newspaper. This, of course, ranges from honors, promotions and raises to getting arrest or fired, but you get the idea. The good news is that Venus is going to enhance how people see you in a positive light making it a great time to ask for a raise or give a presentation. She is trining Uranus for this lunation which bodes nicely for recognition on the job which may take you by surprise or simply reflect a major breakthrough or technical achievement. Note that your traditional sign ruler, Mars, is in Gemini which constitutes your 8th house until July 14. Mars in the 8th can predispose you to accidents so don't take any unnecessary chances until he's gone into Cancer. Jupiter is in Cancer, sign of his exaltation as noted earlier, where his expansive nature has no restraints. This is definitely good news for your 9th house of beliefs and long-distance travel. He is also part of that Grand Water Trine along with Saturn in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces. If your birthday is right around October 28 Saturn is sitting on your natal Sun which may not be the most pleasant of transits. However, that Grand Trine can certainly mitigate it to some degree and make the proverbial lemonade out of what is often a rather lemon-like effect. Saturn just came out of retrograde which means now he's ready to get to work restructuring something at a personal level. Saturn is the natural ruler of responsibility and authority which can be helpful for taking charge of your life and circumstances, especially if you've felt victimized lately. The trine with the New Moon can help shape a favorable attitude in that direction. Neptune is in dignity in Pisces where he can operate to his fullest potential. Pisces is your 5th house of ego definition, creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation or what is sometimes called the "Fun House." Neptune is dreamy and can take you on flights of fantasy to other dimensions. However, make sure you don't make a habit of that, even in the 5th, especially if it involves adult beverages or controlled substances, if you take my meaning. Neptune is the planet of escaping reality which needs to be done appropriately, capische? It's important to note at this point that a Grand Trine is not necessarily a good thing. Rather it simply indicates an easy flow of energy which you can use as you see fit. This aspect could be delusions of grandeur, a less than realistic attitude or complete lack of responsibility. On the positive side, if you use Neptune for inspiration you can change your view of the world, take on more responsibility and have a significant influence on those around you. That Grand Trine will be at its peak on July 17 when all three planets are in the same degree of their respective signs. By then Mars has moved into Cancer and is conjunct Jupiter, suggesting action except Mercury is retrograde which is more indicative of rethinking or redoing something. Pluto is opposing the Jupiter - Mercury midpoint which implies deep introspection regarding some aspect of your philosophy of life. At any rate, if you want to ponder the meaning of this aspect pattern doing so on the 17th is probably best for you to tune into what it's trying to say. The Full Moon on July 22 is in fellow Fixed Sign, Aquarius, your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories, endings and new beginnings. A Full Moon usually brings an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase, especially when occurring in your 4th house of endings. If your birthday is right around October 24 this lunation forms a T-square with your natal Sun and implies something that involves the usual conflict between home and career. Saturn is also forming a T-square which may bring personal responsibility to the foreground. Venus has moved into Virgo, your 11th house of friends, groups, organizations, goals, hopes and wishes and is suggesting a slight change of direction. By this time Mercury is direct so conclusions can be drawn and action taken, especially with Mars and Jupiter are conjunct. You may not want to reveal everything you know, however, which isn't too difficult for secret-loving Scorpios. The Grand Trine is still in effect so everything about it still applies. And now for that Grand Sextile. First of all I recommend that you take a look at the chart which will give you a visual clue of what this energy is all about at a more intuitive level whether or not you're an astrologer or into the technical part of it. As you can see it resembles the facets of a cut gemstone. Gems are cut to control how they reflect light and thus enhance their appearance. Ponder this for a moment and consider that this energy may be tossed about in different directions in a similar way. The Grand Water Trine is in effect and joined by a Grand Earth Trine of short duration given that one component is the Moon. Nonetheless there are a lot of Water and Earth energies associated with this configuration with each being tied to the other around the entire zodiac. Sextiles usually bring an opportunity but it's mind-boggling to consider getting six of them at once. Buried in this complex pattern are also three Mystic Rectangles which reinforce this concept of several mutually exclusive opportunities and there's even more. Interestingly enough this occurs when the Sun and Moon are in nearly exact square, commonly known as a quarter moon, in this case the fourth quarter in the waning phase. This can often result in a conflict between your head and heart, so there will be a conflict there in the decision process as well with neither speaking up clearly. The three oppositions provide information as well, their typical message that of acquiring balance. First there's Pluto opposite Mars, your two sign rulers duking it out across the zodiac. This implies a lot of deep thought before taking action on your beliefs and again perhaps not letting on everything that you know. Money may be a consideration as well with Jupiter conjunct Mars and ruler of your 2nd house of money. Saturn and the Moon are opposed which suggests the involvement of someone close to you and the conflict between what you want to do versus the responsible thing to do. Lastly is Venus versus Neptune, Venus in your house of friends, groups and goals sorting through the details while your imagination or desire for an excursion into Fantasyland tugs in a different direction, indicating a potential dual between illusion and reality. If all of these come together simultaneously it can represent a considerable dilemma times three. Whatever your circumstances, take some time to ponder what is going on in your life when this occurs and how it may match up with the astrological implications. Due to its rather short duration due to the involvement of the Moon you may want to do so at the time it's in effect which is 18:39 GMT which translates to 1:39 p.m. EDT, 12:39 p.m. CDT, 11:39 a.m. MDT and 10:39 a.m. PDT. Those of you in other countries will need to figure it out for yourself or drop me an email and I'll let you know. |
