Lunations and Long-term Aspects This month has all sorts of things on the cosmic agenda including a new and improved Grand Water Trine and a Grand Sextile, a rare occurrence with a variety of possibilities. There were Grand Water Trines in June but the third component connecting with the long-term trine between Saturn and Neptune were fast-movers like Venus, Mercury and the Sun. Now big-boy Jupiter has hooked up with them which will last longer and also have more long-lasting effects. The outer planets drive the themes and important lessons of your life while the inner ones are more active in daily events and situations that support those themes. The Grand Sextile will occur on July 29 (July 30 for those of you on the other side of the International Dateline or IDL) but be of short duration due to the involvement of the Moon in one of the key positions. It will occur 18:39 GMT which in the USA translates to 1:39 p.m. EDT; 12:39 p.m. CDT; 11:39 a.m. MDT; and 10:39 a.m. PDT. Those of you elsewhere in the world can email me if you want to know what time it will occur in your timezone. More regarding the effects of these two planetary configurations will be covered below. Other than the Moon the only astrological entity in your sign this month is the South Lunar Node which will be between 15 - 12 degrees Taurus (they move in a retrograde direction) and contact the natal Sun of those of you born roughly between May 3 - 6. The Lunar Nodes are essentially gateways with various karmic implications and tend to be active for significant life events. In general the North Node brings something into your life and represents what you're reaching for while the South Node escorts something out the door, making room for growth coming in through the North Node. See what comes your way as a result. With the North Node in your 7th house of relationships it could mean someone new and important coming into your life. The New Moon on July 8 is in Cancer, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and local travel. Watch for an opportunity in this part of your life if your birthday is right around May 7. This lunation is in a somewhat sloppy T-square with that ongoing Uranus - Pluto square which is likely to tie into it in someway or another. Pluto is in fellow Earth Sign, Capricorn, your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, philosophy of life, higher learning, legal matters, other cultures, long-distance travel and relocation. Pluto is not only the cosmic roto-rooter but also a transformer which is likely to have a significant affect on your core beliefs over the next several years. Since your thoughts and ideas as well as the information you gather are what ultimately form your beliefs, something new to ponder may be introduced. Uranus is in Aries, your 12th house of inspiration, enlightenment, spirituality, confinement, subconscious, dreams, visions, seclusion, institutions, hidden enemies, the collective consciousness and self-undoing. Uranus is unpredictable by nature and rules such things as breakthroughs, innovation, technology, explosions, tornadoes, lightning, unexpected events, rebellion and so forth. This implies that a sudden flash of inspiration could challenge existing thoughts and ultimately evoke changes in your beliefs. Pluto in your 9th could throw a caution flag in the event you travel long distances or abroad. The chances of encountering Plutonian experiences are increased suggesting they will be intense and potentially life-changing. You sign ruler, Venus, is in Leo, your 4th house of home environment, memories, cultural roots, endings and new beginnings. Being a Fixed Sign, change is not your favorite pursuit but Venus softens the effects and implies a favorable outcome. She squares your Sun if your birthday is right around May 3 and her trine to Uranus implies whatever it might be will take you by surprise. It also could be that those changes to your core beliefs kick off some sort of new and beneficial beginning. Jupiter is in Cancer as well which will bring a philosophical spin to those thoughts and considerations. Mercury is retrograde in that sign as well which suggests you'll be rethinking and reconsidering as opposed to processing entirely new information. Back to Jupiter, he's one of the components of that Grand Water Trine which will be in effect for a while. Another one is Saturn who just came out of retrograde in Scorpio, your polar sign and 7th house of close relationships including your significant other, close friends and relatives, business partners and professionals, cliental, competitors and open enemies. While retrograde Saturn operates at the subconscious level stirring up something that needs to be restructured. Now that he's direct you will become consciously aware of whatever this happens to be which appear to be reworking the responsibilities inherent in a relationship. The final member of this planetary triad is Neptune in Pisces, your 11th house of friends, groups, organizations, networking, goals, hopes and wishes. Neptune is in dignity in Pisces which he rules allowing him to express his energy to its full potential. He can be inspirational but also delusional but as a practical Earth Sign you can probably use a bit of fantasy. Tying these three together suggests rethinking how a relationship is currently working and coming up with some goals to improve it. Keep them realistic but perhaps some Neptunian goals such as taking a cruise or escaping in some other way may be the refresher it needs. That Grand Water Trine will be at its peak on July 17 (July 18 for those of you on the other side of the IDL) so that is a favorable time to tune into its energy and absorb what it has to say. Those of your born April 25 will be particularly able to access it. There is likely to be a collision between existing beliefs and what comes in but Pluto will be happy to bulldoze them out of the way. The Full Moon on July 22 is in fellow Fixed Sign, Aquarius, your 10th house of career, status, public image and reputation. Bear in mind that status covers just about everything you might post on Facebook or appear in the newspaper or public record. It includes everything from promotions and raises to getting arrested or fired. A Full Moon usually brings an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase so watch for something along those lines to occur. Meanwhile the Sun is in Leo, your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories and endings as previously noted. This will bring emphasis to this part of your life over the coming month. Saturn is at the apex of a T-square with this lunation which suggests that home and career are issues in this relationship situation. Maybe you've been working too hard and not spending enough time at home or vice versa. Your Sign Ruler, Venus, has moved into Virgo and suggesting the need for a change of direction that may include enjoying yourself a little more or possibly using more creativity in your endeavors. You decide which one fits the best. The Grand Trine is still in effect to gather relevant information and inspiration. Mercury is now out of retrograde with Jupiter and Mars conjunct and ready to move forward so take advantage of the momentum and let go of old beliefs and expectations as necessary to make it so. The Grand Sextile is a rather rare planetary configuration that you can probably appreciate most by looking at the chart. As you can see the aspects make a pattern that resembles the facets of a cut gemstone. Ponder for just a moment why a gem is cut, which is to bring out its natural beauty by reflecting light in a specific, controlled manner. Now consider that these aspects will reverberate energy in a similar manner. A sextile usually brings an opportunity but in this case there will be six. The Grant Water Trine is still there with all its influences and is joined by a Grant Earth Trine, albeit brief due to the involvement of the Moon. If nothing else you can see some favoritism for Water and Earth signs, especially you Taureans since your natal Sun could pick up as the Moon moves on if your birthday lies between April 23 - May 1. In addition to six sextiles and two Grand Trines there are also three Mystic Rectangles. These often manifest as two opportunities which are mutually exclusive, kind of like going to your favorite buffet only to be given a plate the size of a saucer and a directive that you can only fill it once. Party to these are oppositions which create that division or demand balance, one or the other. Thus, looking at the three oppositions may help reveal what this Grand Sextile might produce. Jupiter and Mars are conjunct in Cancer and opposing Pluto which comes back to taking action on new information or ideas but being held back until old beliefs and expectations are eliminated. Another one comprises the Moon opposing Saturn which suggests an emotional element holding you back from restructuring the responsibilities of a relationship. The third one is between your sign ruler, Venus, and Neptune and sets your ego definition against what could be unrealistic goals, perhaps where you don't want to back down. As if that's not enough conflict, the Sun and Moon are in nearly exact square, known commonly as the last quarter Moon. This often exacerbates disagreement between your head and heart. It appears that perhaps this Grand Sextile will be more like running in circles than anything. All you can do is take note of how it feels and what's going on at the time but in this astrologer's opinion it doesn't necessarily look like anything other than focusing a multitude of issues to a single point for identification and resolution. |
