Lunations and Long-term Aspects This month's New Moon on May 9 (or May 10, depending where you live) is also a solar eclipse in Taurus, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and local travel. It has a narrow path of visibility that goes through the South Pacific and parts of Northern Australia which strengthens its effects for those of you in those areas. As it is, an eclipse is much stronger than the usual lunation. A conjunction in astrology only means that two or more celestial bodies are in the same degree of longitude (or within orb). Thus, they can be separated by another measure known as declination which indicates in degrees how much above or below the object is from the celestial equator which is simply the Earth's equator extended out into space. Thus, for an eclipse to happen or transit of the Sun by Mercury or Venus, they not only have to be in the same zodiacal degree but also the same declination and when they are lined up in the crosshairs like that you get a stronger connection and longer influence. Eclipses can sometimes actually manifest an event before they happen or their effects linger for months, leaving their particular degree a "hot spot" susceptible to subsequent transits. If your birthday is right around March 10 this eclipse will sextile your natal Sun and could bring some serious ideas or interactions with neighbors or siblings or possibly denote a significant event in your local area. Your traditional ruler, Jupiter, which also rules you 10th house of career and status is semisextile the eclipse in your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories, endings and new beginnings which indicates you should watch for an opportunity for a new career or status endeavor but one that will require some effort on your part. Your sign ruler, Neptune, continues to pod through your sign and is currently on your natal Sun if your birthday is right around February 24. This can be inspirational at best and total brain fog at worst. It will pass eventually but can be disconcerting while it lasts as you kind of float around wondering what's going on. Saturn is retrograde in fellow Water Sign, Scorpio, which is you 9th house of beliefs, expectations, higher learning, long-distance travel, relocation, other cultures, religion and politics as well as legal matters. If your birthday is around February 26 he is trining your Sun and restructuring something in your subconscious related to one or more of these areas. Saturn is trining Neptune which can introduce some inspiration but conceivably also delusions or idealism. Nonetheless, this can be a favorable aspect for getting your belief system in line with who and what you are. You may already have a familiarity with other dimensions and this can help you really figure out what you part is in them. Venus is squaring Neptune, however, from fellow Mutable Sign, Gemini, your 4th house of home environment, memories, cultural roots, endings and new beginnings. Sensuous Venus in logical Gemini makes for an interesting combination and this connection with Neptune complicates it even further. Venus rules your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings and neighbors as well as your 8th house of transformations, debt, sex, death and rebirth, shared resources, other people's money and intense experiences which seems to hint at some serious thought involving your present home, your upbringing or perhaps a new beginning. Keeping it realistic may be the greatest challenge or perhaps keeping it focused would be a better way to express it. Mars is also in your house of thoughts and so forth which implies action, perhaps related to finances, income, possessions or personal needs. His trine to Pluto in your 11th house of friends, groups and goals should help develop a plan toward that vision which is hopefully starting to make sense. If you're a believer in the principle that "thoughts become things" now is a good time to start visualizing your goals and reinforcing it daily. A long-term aspect which will be in effect on and off for the next few years is that Uranus - Pluto square. Pluto in your house of goals suggest a complete overhaul, letting go of those things that haven't worked and probably any people who have not helped you along the way as well as taking control of this part of your life. Uranus is all about surprises, sudden change, rebellion, innovation and freedom which is going to be stirring things up in your 2nd house of income, finances, pleasures, possessions and needs for quite a while. It is probably best to expect a fair amount of instability in this part of your life for quite a while, though the effects will be most noticeable as he contacts your natal planets by transit. Your goals may be compromised by your finances and vice versa. While this square is in the transits remember that these changes will ultimately bring opportunities to revamp your goals in a beneficial way based on Pluto's placement in your natal chart and that even Uranus in the 2nd can bring you opportunities, you're just going to have to work for them as they won't just land in your lap. The Full Moon on May 24 (or 25th, depending where you live) is another lunar eclipse which will be visible in the USA unlike the one last month. Lunar eclipses are more likely to operate on the emotional level whereas solar eclipses typically bring events and situation. The eclipse occurs in Sagittarius, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status with the Sun highlighting your 4th of home environment, memories, cultural roots, endings and new beginnings. Furthermore, the Sun and Moon are forming a T-square with Neptune, so if Neptune is on your natal Sun for this event, which would be those of you born around February 21 - 24 you may find yourself on the cusp of a significant change of some sort. One possibility would be figuring out what you want to be when you grow up then recognizing all the obstacles along the way before you can get there. The Uranus - Pluto square is partile, i.e. in the same degree, and therefore quite strong so watch for action there as described above. The trine from Saturn to Neptune is also still in effect but it has now become part of a closed loop completed by a square from the Sun to Neptune and quincunx to Saturn, which I'll address separately then try to tie together in a coherent fashion. As you recall, Saturn RX is reworking your belief system and expectations and Neptune could be providing some inspiration for these considerations. The square from the Sun is likely to reflect on identifying the obstacles or tripping over a few, which could be members of your immediate family. The quincunx from the Sun to Saturn indicates the need for a change of course or compromise, or perhaps simple workarounds for those speedbumps. This could well be no more than a major attitude adjustment. Mercury and Venus are conjunct in Gemini, making for good communication skills and ideas related to home or new endeavors and Jupiter is in Gemini as well, adding some more luck and expansive energy. Thus, in spite of all the obstacles you may see, there is some positive momentum working for you as well. |
