The New Moon this month on May 9 is also a solar eclipse in Taurus, your polar sign and 7th house of close relationships including your significant other, close friends and relatives, business partners, business professionals and competitors. If your birthday is right around November 12 the eclipse opposed your natal Sun and is likely to bring something significant your way. Remember that eclipses are stronger and last longer than the usual garden-variety lunation. This is due to the fact that the Sun and Moon are lined up in the zodiacal crosshairs, so to speak.

When planets are "conjunct" in astrology they are only in the same degree and thus one can be higher or lower than the other, meaning they're not necessarily in exactly the same position. For an eclipse to occur, they also have to be in the same declination or distance above or below the celestial equator, which is simply the Earth's equator extended out into space. Declination counts in astrology but isn't mentioned or used as much. At any rate, what you have with an eclipse is a "double whammy" where both longitude/zodiacal degree and declination line up, blending the effects in an extremely powerful way. Another contributor to the strength of an eclipse is its visibility. This one has a narrow path that extends through the South Pacific and across parts of Northern Australia, so if you'll be able to observe it then it will have an even stronger effect for you.

Now that you've gotten through Eclipse 101, let's see what you need to watch for as far as effects. Mercury is conjunct the eclipse which implies some form of communication in the form of news or information will come from it, most likely from or regarding someone you know well. Mars, you ancient sign ruler, is in Taurus along with Mercury and the eclipse, so there is a lot of energy in this sign. Mercury opposes your natal Sun if your birthday is right around November 2 and Mars implies action or perhaps aggression. Mars is separating from a trine to Pluto, your modern ruler, which provides you with quite a lot of energy. Pluto is in your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, local travel, siblings and neighbors which suggests hidden information regarding that venue which could also relate to your job or work in some way since Mars also rules your 6th house. This is one of those energy fluxes which you need to use or it will use you. If you know what this is about you should move on it appropriately or you may find it coming at you and put you on the defensive. Remember the best defense is a good offense. A trine between two malefic planets isn't always a good thing, it only means a strong energy exchange, but since you feel at home with both of them as your sign ruler you have a better chance than others of using it to your advantage.

The square from Pluto to Uranus is closing into exactitude and will be in the same degree by the next lunation, also an eclipse but of the lunar variety. Uranus is in Aries, your 6th house as noted above, so surprises in that venue are likely. Either that or simply a hectic pace with various disturbances and interruptions from matters that weren't properly resolved the first go-round. Depending on where you work you may be thinking "So what's new?"

Saturn continues retrograde in your sign and is on your Natal Sun if your birthday is right around October 31. Such a transit is often grueling and possibly depressing. Saturn RX is all about restructuring something and when it's on your Sun it relates to you at a very personal level. If you've been ignoring certain things that you shouldn't have been more than likely this stern task master will rub your nose in them one way or another. Saturn is trining Neptune in fellow Water Sign, Pisces, your 5th house of ego definition, romance, children, creativity, entertainment and speculation. Neptune is great for your imagination but not so good for facing reality so this could be another trine that doesn't function in a beneficial way if you try to use it to ignore Saturn's message. On the other hand, if you use your imagination to find your way out of whatever dilemma you're dealing with currently then that can work to your advantage. That's what free will is all about, deciding how to use the energy so it doesn't use you.

Venus is applying to a square to Neptune from Gemini, your 8th house of transformations, sex, death and regeneration, shared resources, debt and other people's money. Venus is the natural ruler of money and possessions and also ruler of your 7th house of relationships and your 12th house which includes spirituality, enlightenment, inspiration, institutions, confinement, seclusion, hidden enemies and self-undoing. This thus has the potential to be a spiritual awakening which changes you in a significant way and presents a few challenges in the implementation. Jupiter is transiting your 8th house which suggests an expansive and favorable transformation with the partile (same degree) semisextile to the eclipse indicating it's going to take some effort on your part but will be worth it.

The Full Moon on May 24 is another lunar eclipse but unlike the one in April this one will be visible in the USA. It occurs in nextdoor neighboring sign, Sagittarius, your 2nd house of income, finances, possessions, needs and pleasures. Lunar eclipses usually operate on the emotional level but often motivate action, depending on what emotion is involved. The Sun and Moon form a T-square with Neptune in Pisces, your 5th house as defined above. This hints at confronting any delusions with regard to your finances. If your birthday is right around October 29 Neptune is trining your natal Sun which can be great for an infusion of inspiration.

Saturn RX is on your Sun if your birthday is October 30 but again this can yield inspiration for your restructuring efforts, whatever they might be. Saturn is also tied into the Sun by quincunx from your 8th house of transformations, highlighting that part of your life with that particular aspect indicating the need for adjustments or a change of course. Venus, Mercury and Jupiter are also in your 8th, providing ideas and some luck, especially when Venus and Jupiter are conjunct the last week of May. Be particularly observant during that time for solutions to present themselves, possibly even falling into your lap, especially for those of you born between November 12 - 17.

The square between Uranus and Pluto is partile for this eclipse which could bring some surprises at work which have the potential for shaking up your finances. If nothing else, this is NOT the time to make a major purchase or push your luck in that part of your life. It could also be a time similar to when Mercury is retrograde when you witness various appliance or auto breakdowns which can be not only inconvenient but costly. Those of you born right around November 4 are most likely to encounter that though all Scorpios should be aware of the possibility.
