Lunations and Long-term Aspects The New Moon this month on September 5 is in nextdoor neighboring sign, Virgo, your 12th house of inspiration, dreams, visions, spirituality, your subconscious, collective consciousness, confinement, seclusion, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing. The Sun has been in your 12th house since August 23 highlighting this part of your life with the New Moon an additional boost toward something new. The 12th house has a rather bad reputation as houses go, being considered "bad" along with the 8th, at least as far as traditional astrology is concerned. In modern times the approach tends to be more positive but the fact remains that these can be difficult houses. You may find that you're somewhat inclined to be reclusive, introspective, and unmotivated during this time. Think about this time of year in the past and what types of events occurred to get some idea of what the energy tends to manifest. This will also depend on any planets you have in Virgo that get activated during this time. One possibility, which has been the case for me, is that every time I've been in the hospital it has been when the Sun was in my 12th. Of course I have Saturn and Pluto there, which doesn't help, but considering that the 12th includes institutions it makes sense. So, the bottom line is that this may not exactly be the best month of the year for you. Not necessarily, but if you're feeling low and even bummed out it could simply be that. Nonetheless there is a good possibility for inspiration, insights and enlightenment regarding anything bothering you. There's a T-square out there that could be causing some trouble that the New Moon helps mitigate. The T-square involves Pluto, Uranus and Jupiter though Jupiter will be out of range fairly soon. Pluto is in fellow Cardinal Sign, Capricorn, your 4th house of home environment, memories, cultural roots, endings and new beginnings. Pluto's function is to unearth corruption and eliminate it so healing can occur as well as the ruler of power and control. In this house Pluto can mean everything from cockroach infestations to dealing with issues from your childhood or completely starting over in some area of your life. If your birthday is right around October 3 he is currently squaring your natal Sun and thus increasing the effects. This can be a rather rough transit so if life isn't treating you very well currently that could be part of it. Uranus is in your polar sign, Aries, your 7th house of relationships including your significant other, close friends and relatives, business partners, business professionals, competitors and open enemies. Uranus is the planet of surprises, upsets, disturbances, distractions, rebellion, innovation, technology, explosions, breakthroughs and just about anything unconventional. At the least he will facilitate a hectic pace. This could easily bring all sorts of home issues that probably are less than fun to deal with. The final T-square member, Jupiter, is in Cancer where he is exalted. He tends to expand and exaggerate whatever he touches and in this warm, nurturing Water Sign he has few restrictions so can operate at full efficiency. While Jupiter is generally looked upon as a benefic planet, this is not always the case. His primary function is to expand things so if he's in hard aspect to malefic planets then it simply makes things worse. I have seen Jupiter involved in extreme weather events where he's squaring Mars or Pluto, for example. Cancer is your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status, where status covers just about anything that could appear in the newspaper or public record or Facebook, for that matter. Normally this transit would be favorable for that part of your life but in cahoots with those other two planets, maybe not so much. This could be a time of tremendous opportunity for you careerwise yet things at home and in your relationships are the proverbial trainwreck, which is making it difficult to pursue your ambitions or that status issue, whatever it may be. Remember Jupiter is soon to be out of range, which will help a little. Now for the coup de grace. If your birthday is between around October 2 - 8, your natal Sun is forming a Grand Square with these planets which will definitely make this much more apparent. Now the good news. The New Moon is forming a Triangle of Potential with the Pluto - Jupiter opposition which suggests that you can obtain the spiritual strength or inspiration you need to deal with the conflict between work and home. The lunation is quincunx Uranus which suggests the need for an adjustment or change of course with those relationships issues, so this should at least give a few hints regarding what is needed there. Another closed loop aspect pattern of note is one involving Mars, Saturn and Neptune. Mars is in Leo, your 11th house of friends, goals, groups, organizations, networking, hopes and wishes which provides some drive and energy to that part of your life. However, you may find that there are obstacles and delays keeping you from pursuing them as you'd like thanks to Saturn in your 2nd house of income, finances, possessions, needs, comforts and pleasures. Saturn in the 2nd usually isn't overly positive when it comes to finances. He's the proverbial wet blanket and reeks of responsibilities and obligations. He's trining Neptune, however, in your 6th house of work, health, service and pets. This can bring inspiration with regard to your work and somehow help with the money situation. Mars is quincunx Neptune, which implies a change of direction or adjustment to your goals. The Full Moon on September 19 is in Pisces, your 6th house of work and such as described above. This should bring an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase of something in that part of your life. Jupiter has moved out of the T-square but is now squaring Mercury in your sign, which is on your natal Sun if your birthday is right around October 10. This suggests either news or your thoughts and ideas are in conflict with expanding your career or status. Nonetheless, this news or thoughts, whichever it happens to be, is favorable for taking action on your goals or group activities which can have a favorable effect on your relationships as well, particularly if disruptions in that part of your life are part of the problem. Mars, Uranus and a triple conjunction between Venus, your sign ruler, Saturn and the North Node are in a closed loop that looks important as well. Venus, Saturn and the North Node are all in your 2nd house of income, finances and needs which suggest something new coming into your life in this area, even though it's still going to conflict or present challenges related to your goals. They are also quincunx Uranus which indicates a change of course that may involve that relationship issue. Whatever change takes place there should be favorable for your goals. It's also possible that you need to make some transformational changes on the homefront to help with the financial issues. If you're living beyond your means then taking steps to get your expenses or spending habits under control can also help the situation. Just a note of sympathy with regard to whatever Uranus happens to represent in your 7th house. Relationships are important to Librans. You are prone to basing your self-image and identity on those around you and if things are topsy-turvy with your relationships then it can have a very destabilizing effect on you. This is not something you can change since it is programmed into your sign as a tendency that's hard to escape. You also tend to be fair and consider all sides of a situation. It's easy for Librans to be taken advantage of by drones, mooches and entitlement minded relatives. However, Librans also can get to the "eye for an eye" stage when they feel betrayed. This gets even easier when your natal Sun progresses into Scorpio. What I'm suggesting here is that it's in your best interest to deal with these issues because they are probably really disrupting your life. Depending on who or what is going on it's time to take a close look at the effect it's having on you, your health and quality of life. Sometimes you simply need to tell someone to shape up or ship out. Now might be a good time to talk to someone you trust about the situation or even see a counselor. If nothing else, recognize that your happiness is every bit as important as everyone else's. On September 22 the Sun goes into your sign. This should help with some of those 12th house transit doldrums. It also marks the autumnal equinox in the Northern Hemisphere and vernal equinox in the Southern and the change of seasons, which occurs whenever the Sun enters a Cardinal Sign. The astrological chart for that moment tends to define the energy of that season and is used for such things as astrometeorology (astrological weather prediction such as that in the Old Farmer's Almanac) as well as mundane and geopolitical astrology. I suspect that it may have some bearing on individuals as well and give some indicator of what the coming season will bring. I always welcome feedback but especially in this case. Astrologers learn as much or more from what they get wrong as what they get right so feel free to let me know if I was off in deep space with what I'm about to say. By the way, if your birthday is September 22 or 23 each of these seasonal changes probably have a fairly strong impact on you because your Sun is being squared or opposed by the Sun for each of them, which often brings an important event. This will be even stronger if you have a few planets at 0 degrees. Give that some thought, too, if that applies to you. This chart has another T-square that comprises the Moon, Mars and the stellium in your 2nd house, i.e. Venus, Saturn and the North Node. The Moon is in Taurus, your 8th house of transformations, sex, death and rebirth, things you suppress, debt, shared resources and intense experiences. This throws a lot of emotional energy into this part of your life and implies life-changing events. These are likely to involve your finances or needs as well and once again relate to your friends, goals or group activities, all of which are in some level of challenge or conflict. Expanding your career and income shows possibilities, but your own thoughts or confidence may be jeopardizing their attainment. A change of course that involves both a relationship and your finances, needs or comforts, is indicated, which can help facilitate the needed transformation, albeit with considerable effort. A transformation of some form is brewing and can ultimately open the way for what you really want and need. Taking action won't necessarily be easy but unless you're happy with the status quo it's required to get where you want to go. |
