Okay, Aries, get comfortable because this is probably going to be longer than usual due to everything going on this month.  First of all, remember that your sign ruler, Mars, is retrograde and opposes the Sun on 8 April, as noted last month.  You may want to go back to March's horoscope to refresh your memory on its significance.  In a nutshell, it could be a time of an "about face" with regard to something you're currently pursuing.  Between Mars and Saturn retrograde, if you're making any progress at all these days you're definitely to be commended.  I know that Aries typically do not give up easily but usually embrace the philosophy of "Damn the torpedoes!  Full-speed ahead!"  Be that as it may, you might want to note that it may need to be redone later, especially if it's initiated under these rather less than auspicious aspects.

This is the month when many of you experience your Solar Return.  That means that you are going to carry the effects of that Cardinal Grand Cross around with you for the coming year.  It's a good thing that you welcome a good challenge because that's probably what you're going to get.  If your birthday happens to be right around April 3 your natal Sun is in the cosmos' crosshairs and it will probably be a humdinger.  If you've never indulged in one of our Solar Return Reports before, now would probably be a good time to give one a try.  They're excellent for getting a glimpse of what to expect in the coming year so you can navigate through the alligators in the water more effectively.  You can buy one here and see a sample here.  That said, let's move on to what exactly is going on astrologically this month.

On April 14 Pluto stations retrograde.  Stationing planets tend to inject a whole lot of their energy into their stationing degree since they are there for an extended amount of time.  Think of using a blow torch and the difference in its effect when it's staying in one place versus moving around.  This is essentially what happens and if that degree aspects something in your chart you're going to feel the heat.  Of course the most personal planet in your horoscope is your Sun and that is the only one I tend to address in these reports.  If you don't have a copy of your horoscope feel free to email me with your date, time and location of birth and I'll send you one for free.  That way you'll know what's where and be able to tell if some other planet is taking a hit.  With Pluto stationing at 13:35 Capricorn, this squares your natal Sun if your birthday is the aforementioned April 3.  Capricorn is your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status.  With Pluto transiting that house for several years so far you have probably already seen a variety of things in this part of your life.  Pluto is intense, passionate, obsessive, power hungry and nosey in that he excels at rooting out corruption.  Just look around you at all the power grabs and dirty little secrets being exposed, specifically in government and corporate venues lately and ponder the fact that these entities are ruled by Capricorn.  A quick look at a listing of TV shows on the History Channel alone yields a considerable number of programs dedicated to exposing all sorts of things.  Think about what you've seen or experienced personally in this area and expect to see more of the same in the coming weeks and months.

As if the Pluto station isn't enough to send a blast into the cosmic soup, approximately 8 hours later there's a Lunar Eclipse that gives it another power boost.  In both charts Uranus and Mercury are conjunct and in the same degree in your sign and on your natal Sun if your birthday is April 3. This has unexpected and potentially explosive information written all over it.  Consider that your sign ruler, Mars, is opposing these two from your 7th house of relationships.  As noted earlier he's retrograde so this could relate to discovering that something you've been working on is going to have to be redone.  There is no way for me to tell how serious this will be.  It could be as simple (hahaha) as a computer crash so make sure all your important files are backed up.  Don't forget that eclipses have a lot of staying power as opposed to the usual garden variety lunation.  Lunar eclipses tend to operate on the emotional level while the solar variety is more likely to bring events your way.  This is not to say this one won't spawn events and they could simply be going on around you as opposed to personalized.   Those of you not born on April 3 need to realize that this energy is nonetheless operating in that sign and is likely to affect you at some level so don't entirely lull yourself into a sense of false security.  Furthermore, those of you born right around April 16 will be hit directly by the eclipse which will deliver the energy of the entire chart so you are just as likely to see something significant as those born on the 3rd.

The Grand Cross will have all four planets at 13 degrees on April 22.  As a reminder of what this entails, Uranus, planet of surprises, disruptions, rebellion, breakthroughs, freedom and innovation, is in your 1st house of personality.  This is likely to be stirring up your natural Aries energy and perhaps providing a rather hectic pace to your life generally.  Jupiter is in Cancer, your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories, endings and new beginnings.  Jupiter is generally considered a lucky and favorable planet but in reality he is somewhat neutral and simply expands and exaggerates what he touches.  In other words, whatever is going on he will make bigger.  Thus, with a square to Uranus, those disruptions at the personal level are likely to have a rather large impact on this part of your life whether it's your homelife or a new start. 

Jupiter in turn is squaring Mars who is still retrograde in your 7th house of relationships.  This includes not only your significant other but close friends and relatives, business professionals, cliental, competitors and open enemies.  Mars retrograde tends to be passive aggressive so any hits coming from this direction are likely to be less direct.  Redoing, backing up and a general sense of inertia also apply.  If you feel stuck, perhaps in a bad relationship or are not making progress with a good one this could explain it.    Mars is also opposing Uranus so some of those surprises are going to involve relationships or someone may be holding you back from what you want to do.  The final member is Pluto, who has even more power due to his recent station.  He's in your 10th house of career as noted earlier.  These four houses represent the foundation of your chart and cornerstones of your life.  They are all important and where action often begins.  They are all faced off and possibly conflicting with one another at this time. 

Other effects out there include Saturn in your 8th house of transformations, sex, death and rebirth, debt, intense experiences, things you suppress and shared resources.  He is also retrograde which operates at the subconscious level and eventually rubs your nose in something that needs to be restructured or rebuilt.  The good news is that he is being trined by Venus in your 12th house where your subconscious lies.  This will help you examine and discover what you really need the most as far as security in both the financial and emotional realms.  Neptune is also in your 12th which provides an additional dose of inspiration and enlightenment.  These may not be easy times but they are steering you toward increased satisfaction in your life as you discover what really matters.

The Solar Eclipse on April 29 occurs in Taurus, your 2nd house of income, possessions, needs, comforts and pleasures.  The Grand Cross is still in effect but no longer with all four planets in the same degree.  This eclipse will be visible in parts of central and southern Australia, including the city of Melbourne.  From there it extends into the ocean across the tip of Antarctica and back into the ocean.  Some astrologers speculate that the effects are stronger along the path of visibility.  I don't have any evidence for that but throw it out there for what it's worth.  This eclipse could further emphasize the work being done on your behalf by Saturn and Venus.  Saturn is quincunx you Sun if your birthday is right around April 10.  That particular aspect tends to promote a change of course, adjustment, the need to justify your position or sometimes as Catch-22 situation.  Remember this relates to your needs on both the financial and emotional level.  If these are not being met this is an excellent time to think about that and why that's the case.  More is going on in your subconscious but if you give it some thought you may be surprised what you discover.  If you don't know what it's about then you may discover something when Saturn goes direct July 20.  Mark the date and see what happens.
