This month is loaded astrologically in a different way than March was.  First of all, let me remind you that Mars opposes the Sun on April 8, a time that could bear some significance as explained last month.  Mark the date and see if it represents a time when you discover something needs to be redone, that you need to back up or perhaps have a greater understanding of why you've felt such a strong sense of inertia lately.  If your birthday is right around January 9 this opposition will form a T-square with your Natal Sun which is likely to give it a little more punch.  At this time Venus is cozied up with Neptune in your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and local travel which could lend some assistance with maintaining optimism as well as accessing some inspiration.  Can't hurt, right?

On April 14 Pluto stations retrograde.  This, of course, happens every year and often receives little or no fanfare but this year it's a little difference since Pluto is one of the members of the Grand Cross.  A stationing degree gets a tremendous blast of energy that of course if going to relate to the planet involved.  When you consider that Pluto is all about power, control, corruption, secrets, and so forth, this is certainly worth watching.  Due to the station, Pluto will be in this same degree (13 deg Capricorn) from February 26 to June 3.  If your birthday is right around January 4 that means that Pluto has been sitting on your Natal Sun for that entire time plus the time he's been at the previous degree.  Pluto transits to your Sun are not easy and I can say that with authority since I went through one a few years back.  It is a once in a lifetime transit (thank heavens) and when you get on the other side of it you will find that numerous parts of your life will have changed tremendously.  It has been said that people seldom die of a Pluto transit but you may want to.  Rest assured that it will eventually end, even though they usually last for as long as three years due to these retrograde gigs.  Stationing on your Sun is extremely likely to get your attention to say nothing of the fact that you are also tied into that Grand Cross.  More on that later.

Approximately eight hours after Pluto stations there's a Lunar Eclipse in Libra, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image, and status.  This will have the most effect on those with a birthday within a day or so of January 16.  Eclipses have a lot of staying power meaning that their effects last longer than the usual garden variety lunation PLUS they sometimes even manifest BEFORE they even occur.  Lunar eclipses often operate primarily on the emotional level with solar eclipses more likely to bring events your way but you never know, especially with that Grand Cross out there which may be the culprit as far as stirring something up is concerned.  By the way, if your birthday is a few days later, around January 19, the Lunar Nodes are forming a T-square with your Natal Sun.  This often triggers important life events where something new comes into your life.  A few features of this eclipse other than the Grand Cross is a conjunction in the same degree, i.e. partile, between Uranus and Mercury.  This suggests the arrival of unexpected news or a flash of brilliance that could relate to your work or perhaps your belief system and could set you on a new path.  This isn't likely to be a walk in the park considering what else is going on, but is likely to be important.  Venus is trining Jupiter, another corner of the Grand Square, which can bring some positive energy to your thoughts and ideas as they relate to relationships.  Remember that relationships in the astrological context include not only your significant other but close friends and relatives, business partners, business professionals, cliental, competitors and open enemies.

Now for the moment you've been waiting for, when I finally get to that Grand Cross which is partile, meaning all four planets are in the same degree, on April 22.  This is when you folks born right around January 4 need to keep an eye out for something significant.  Since this is not exactly a lucky aspect pattern I also want to suggest that you exercise caution on this day, particularly those of you being hit in the Natal Sun.  I would avoid taking any unnecessary chances at this time, drive defensively if you must go out at all, and as Elmer Fudd used to say, "Be vewy, vewy qwiet."  Astrologers have been watching this aspect with great anticipation for quite a while.  Having them with the outer planets is somewhat rare and typically significant.  Also of interest is the fact that the natal Sun of the USA is at 13 degrees Cancer and thus conjunct Jupiter.  Add to that the fact that Vladimir Putin's natal Sun is at 13 degrees Libra and things start to get real interesting.  As the Preppers say, this could be the time when the SHTF.  Given the involvement of the eclipse, its effects will linger for quite a while, so the fireworks may not show up immediately.  As always, time will tell.  This is the domain of mundane astrology and I won't go into it any further here but those are a few things to keep in mind. 

As noted earlier, Pluto is in your sign and his effect is deeply transformational.  The next corner of the Grand Cross is Uranus in Aries, your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories, endings and new beginnings.  With Uranus in this house you may have been experiencing a rather hectic pace lately on the home front.  Disruptions and perhaps even disturbances are likely.  Uranus is squaring Jupiter in your 7th house of relationships, which was defined above as including more than your partner.  Jupiter is often considered benefic but IMHO this is not always the case.  Of course you can always hope, but in my experience Jupiter simply expands anything he touches.  If it's good, like a nice trine to Venus, then it's benefic, but if it involves one of the nastier planets like Uranus, Pluto, or Mars, then that's another story.  And those are exactly who we're dealing with in this Grand Cross.  While Jupiter in this house can work nicely to expand your relationships, with a square to Uranus that is also likely to be very disruptive.  This may not be a bad thing, but it will contribute to that hectic pace.  For example, maybe you're in a relationship that is evolving to the next level but there are so many things going on you don't have the time you need to nurture it properly. 

Then there's Mars, retrograde in Libra, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status.  I talked about Mars RX last month.  You have probably already found that much of your ambition in this part of your life is on vacation.  A general sense of inertia and procrastination, which is usually unlike you, has probably settled in by now.  Your to-do list is growing and your git-r-dun factor is in the pico flux range.  Mars RX is about redoing, going back, or backing up.  If you put the cart before the horse in any manner or plunged forward on some endeavor without knowing the ropes, this is when you'll need to go back and get things right.  But of course it's not that simple because Mars is just another part of your life that is being messed with by this cosmic energy with numerous parts of your life competing with one another, perhaps in a rather unfriendly manner.  So if you're frustrated or feel like a ping pong ball trying to keep up with everything, you can at least now have some rational for it.

A favorable aspect in the Grand Cross chart (yes, there actually is one, actually two) involves a trine between Venus and Saturn, your sign ruler, who's retrograde in your 11th house of friends, goals, wishes, groups, organizations and networking.  Saturn RX promotes the restructuring or rebuilding of something which is likely to relate to this house in some way.  Venus in your 3rd house of thoughts can help bring some creativity to bear toward what Saturn is up to, though you may not know entirely until July 20 when he goes direct.  If your birthday is right around January 11 your natal Sun is sextile the two of them so watch for an opportunity.  The Moon is trining Mars, another retrograde planet, which could help you define what you need from your career both financially and emotionally.  This is likely to be what Mars RX is trying to tell you.

The Solar Eclipse on April 29 is in fellow Earth Sign, Taurus, and trines your natal Sun if you birthday is right around December 30.  Taurus is your 5th house which includes your ego definition, creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation.  This eclipse will be visible in parts of central Australia down through Melbourne, out into the ocean, over the tip of Antarctica and then back out into the ocean.  Venus and Saturn are still working together as described earlier and creative ideas related to your career situation are favored as well. 

Clearly this is going to be an interesting month.  Astrologers are definitely holding their breath since it's highly likely something significant will occur or at least get started.  While the Sun is in Aries all sorts of things tend to occur which are often of a rather unfriendly nature.
