Lunations and Long-term Aspects

The New Moon this month on December 13 occurs in fellow Mutable Sign, Sagittarius, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status.  Anything that could appear in the public record is included here with "status" quite similar to its implications on Facebook.  Thus, it could be related to your career but is just as likely to relate to something else so keep an open mind.  Mercury is in that sign as well, which will help you attract relevant information and communications.  Mercury is opposing Jupiter in Gemini which suggests balance which will involve your 4th house and includes your home environment, cultural roots, memories, endings and new beginnings.  Of course one of our age-old dilemmas is balancing our private and public life, so this could be a call to think about whether you're spending too much time at work or perhaps not enough, depending of your situation.  Mercury and Jupiter are also in a condition known as mutual reception which occurs when two planets are in the sign the other rules, creating a synergistic correspondence between them that further enhances their effects.  This should further favor information gathering at all levels and a philosophical approach in analyzing it effectively as it applies to you.

Jupiter is also the eye of a somewhat sloppy yod that began last month and was active in November's Full Moon.  It faded out for a time and is now forming again as Jupiter continues to back up into orb, taking the Moon's place at the eye.  Last month there were two other planets in conjunction with Saturn and Pluto at the base but they have since moved on.  All three components will be at the same degree on none other than the infamous 21 December 2012, a date which has probably received more than its share of attention as the supposed end date of the Mayan calendar.  I'm going to digress for a moment here to talk about that just a bit.  Looking at the chart for the Winter Solstice, a.k.a. Capricorn Ingress in astro-speak, which occurs on that date (Summer Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere) does not hint at all the apocalyptic events various folks are alluding to.  I have seen hurricane and tornado charts which were much more ominous so this one certainly doesn't seem to imply a catastrophic solar flare or asteroid impact that will destroy life as we know it.  I'm not saying these things aren't possible, only that their likelihood on December 21 doesn't look probable.

Rather it looks more like a revelation or consciousness shift as you can see from the chart below provided you know a little about astrology.  Of course if something horrible does happen and we're wiped off the face of the planet, that will definitely be a consciousness change, but I'm reasonably confident that isn't going to happen.  Thus, my delays in achieving my holiday shopping are more related to the Mercury retrograde shadow period than expectations it would be an exercise in futility.

So, back to the New Moon, and noting that Jupiter is at the eye of the yod.  It may seem that the eye is going to be the point of expression and ultimate result of the yod's energy but this is not necessarily the case.  In some cases it will be the eye that pushes the sextile base into the opportunity such aspects typically present.  Thus, that home/career or new beginning/status dialog could be either the impetus or result.  Looking at the base we have Saturn in fellow Water Sign, Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn.  These two planets are also in mutual reception, which rarely happens once much less with two sets of planets.  This gives the chart as a whole a little more oomph all around.  Scorpio is your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, philosophy of life, higher learning, legal matters, long distance travel, relocation, politics and religion.  Saturn is the planet of structure, boundaries, responsibility, discipline, delays and authority figures so could relate to a religious or political leader as well as organizing some 9th house element in a more disciplined manner into your life.

Capricorn, where Pluto is residing, is your 11th house of friends, groups, networking, organizations, goals, hopes and wishes, which hints at a major reworking of this part of your life.  Pluto does well with examining such things in depth then eliminating what you no longer need, making room for something else.  In general this looks like an excellent opportunity to take a close look at your attitude and aspirations and making some adjustments to get on a slightly different track than you've been before.  This could be kicked off by some surprise or unexpected event that affects your finances or income in some way.  Pay attention to what is going on and use your superior intuition but be realistic and don't ignore the facts, as you may be prone to do.

That yod is still in effect for the Full Moon on December 28 and will gradually fade out around the end of December, giving you plenty of time to understand its message for you and get on the right track.  You may not be too inclined toward New Year's resolutions bit it never hurts to at least write them down.  You'd be surprised how simply doing that much programs it into your subconscious as well as the Universe and assists with activity in that regard.  Better yet, spend some time visualizing the result and make it your intent.  The Full Moon system creates an aspect pattern known as a triangle of potential with Saturn which will help you see things more clearly and also muster the emotional commitment necessary to perhaps make an attitude adjustment or two and set out in a new direction.
