Lunations and Long-term Aspects

The New Moon on December 2 is in fellow Mutable Sign, Sagittarius, your 4th house of home environment, memories, cultural roots, endings and new beginnings.  If your birthday is right around September 3 this lunation will square your natal Sun and thus have a stronger influence.  The New Moon is part of a closed loop aspect which may give a better idea of how it may turn up in your life.  First of all, it is forming a trine with Uranus in Aries, your 8th house of transformations, death and rebirth, sex, intense experiences, shared resources, debt, and things you suppress.  A trine is generally seen as a favorable aspect but all that really means is that the energy flows easily.  Uranus is unpredictable by nature.  Whatever you think he'll do is nearly always wrong.  About all you can say is he typically brings something you don't expect.  He's the natural ruler of surprises, freedom, rebellion, innovation, anything unconventional, breakthroughs and sudden change.  Thus, so far we have something unexpected having a transformational effect that will either affect your home environment or other 4th house matter such as institute an ending or new beginning of some sort. 

In addition, the lunation is semisextile Pluto in Capricorn, your 5th house of ego definition, creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation.  This aspect tends to bring friction or an annoyance though it can sometimes also be an opportunity in disguise.  Pluto, natural ruler of the 8th house, also relates to transformation as well as purging things which you no longer need, resolving issues from the past and so forth.  Pluto, in turn, is squaring Uranus which brings additional tension.  Thus, it looks as if something unexpected that relates to an unresolved issue from your 5th house will bring about a transformation and new beginning of some sort.  This may sound a bit ominous but it's very likely it will ultimately be quite favorable if you can rid yourself of some old baggage.

This is not all that is going on so there may be more clues in what remains.  Jupiter is retrograde in Cancer, sign of his exaltation, and your 11th house of goals, hopes, wishes, friends, networking and organizations.  Jupiter retrograde internalizes his energy and thus changes it from being expansive to introspective, most often about philosophical issues.  This could be causing you to question some of your current goals or associations and whether they are contributing to your personal evolution or wasting your time.  Venus is opposite Jupiter and also in Capricorn just downstream from Pluto and thus also in your 5th house.  Venus in your 5th is usually good for romance, speculations and of course interacting with children.  An opposition usually indicates the need for balance.  Both Venus and Jupiter are usually considered benefic planets so this shouldn't be too harsh.  It could easily be the need to balance two good things.  Maybe you should spend less time with your friends and more time with your children or pursuing your own creative endeavors.  Maybe your creative goals are too ambitious and need to be scaled back. 

There is good news for figuring this one out since it is tied into various other aspects that ricochet around the chart like a billiard ball in a favorable manner.  For one, Jupiter is trining Saturn in Scorpio, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and local travel.  Saturn in this house will bring structure and discipline to this part of your life even though he can often operate like a wet blanket.  He's sextile your Sun if your birthday is right around September 10.  In this aspect with Jupiter, however, he can help you organize your thoughts regarding what Jupiter is trying to tell you about your goals, friends or whatever.  He will help deliver the necessary mental clarity to figure things out which is a whole lot better than confusion.  Mars is in your sign and on your natal Sun if your birthday is right around September 20, giving you a lot of energy and perhaps a dose of aggression.  All Virgos will have a bit more energy than usual from this placement and he is trining Venus feeding energy to your 5th house of ego definition and creativity.  He is also sextile your sign ruler, Mercury, in your 3rd house of thoughts and ideas, so that will also provide good mental stimulation.  So we have Saturn helping Jupiter with his philosophical ponderings and Mars helping Venus take action on those creative endeavors with plenty of mental energy to figure things out.  This may all tie in with the New Moon and such as well but could operate independently.

The Full Moon on December 17 is in fellow Mutable Sign, Gemini, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status which basically includes anything that could be found in the public record, newspaper or even on Facebook or Linked-In, so basically it's your public persona and how you're seen by others within the context of society.  A Full Moon usually brings an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase.  Jupiter and Saturn are still in trine, so redefining your goals is still under review but Jupiter is also involved in a quincunx from your buddy, Mercury, now in your 4th house of new beginnings and home environment.  A quincunx usually indicates the need to justify your position, change course or make some other adjustment.  They are somewhat like Uranus in that they're difficult to predict other than that a change is probably needed and change brings a period of transition and instability which can be uncomfortable. 

Actually, this indicates you may be figuring out Jupiter's message as far as your goals or friends is concerned and preparing to do what needs to be done.  Mercury and Saturn are linked up with another one of those scratchy semisextiles, so you will probably know what needs to be done but not be overly enchanted about it because it may not be easy or comfortable.  Mars is quincunx Neptune as well with Neptune plodding along in your polar sign, Pisces, your 7th house of close relationships.  This could indicate some inspiration coming your way from someone close to you but it could have financial implications as well since Mars is in your 2nd house of income, possessions, finances, needs, comforts and pleasures.  Neptune can be inspiration or delusional or anywhere inbetween.  Mars is applying to an opposition with Uranus, which isn't a particularly good thing so this looks as it could be something like an unexpected expense of some sort that may relate to someone close to you.

Approximately eight hours after the Full Moon Uranus stations direct and there are now three quincunxes showing the need for change and various instabilities.  Uranus stationing is like a lightning bolt or electric shock, figuratively and actually literally, too, but hopefully not in this case.  Whatever he is up to it is likely to be hard to miss and shake things up a bit.  Speaking of quincunxes, if your birthday is right around September 1 Uranus is quincunx your natal Sun so you are especially likely to feel this one.  Uranus does bring flashes of brilliance and breakthroughs, so if you haven't figured things out up to this point you probably will then.

December 21 brings two notable events as well.  Not only is it when the Sun enters Capricorn, marking the winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and summer solstice in the Southern, is also sets the tone for the coming quarter which will be reflected in everything from the weather to world events.  This chart has a T-square between Uranus, Mars and Pluto which are all in Cardinal signs which imply action and are all generally categorized as malefic so the coming months should be interesting to say the least.  The Moon is in Leo, your 12th house and squaring Saturn which can actually be a good thing from bringing information from your subconscious to your conscious mind but you may not like what comes up.  The second event on this day is that Venus stations retrograde which means she will go from being the goddess of love to the goddess of war.  You can find more information on Venus retrograde here.  She is in Capricorn, your 5th house of ego definition and creativity as defined above so this is one area that will be involved as well as whatever natal house she's in for you personally.  A hint regarding what may be involved could come from thinking back to the December 2005/January 2006 timeframe when she went retrograde in Capricorn the last time.  If what was going on back then has not been resolved then you will probably get another chance to do so or perhaps it will simply be a similar situation.  On the mundane scene Venus RX can have very interesting implications that you can learn more above at the above link.  All in all it looks like an interesting month.
