Lunations and Long-term Aspects

The New Moon this month is also a solar eclipse which will be visible in a narrow band across the Atlantic ocean and the middle portion of Africa on November 3. The eclipse is annular, meaning that it will not entirely cover the Sun but leave a ring of it visible around the edges. As a member of the 16 North family of the Saros Series, this eclipse is supposed to have a gentle, inspirational energy according to astrologer and eclipse guru, Bernadette Brady. It occurs in fellow Fixed Sign, Scorpio, your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories, endings and new beginnings. If your birthday is right around August 3 the eclipse and several of the planets are in degrees that will aspect your natal Sun so you are likely to be affected more strongly. As you may already be aware, the influence of eclipses can last much longer than the usual lunation and are excellent times to take advantage of their energy to manifest in your life what you are looking for, especially with this one occurring in your 4th house which is where all new cycles begin.

The energy of this lunation is highly integrated with numerous partile (same degree) aspects. Thus, the planets are working together in a cosmic symphony. Besides the eclipse, Saturn, the Lunar North Node and Mercury are also in Scorpio, placing a lot of energy in your 4th house. Saturn is conjunct the Moon and Sun which provides help with the structuring required with a new endeavor. The eclipse is in partile sextile with Mars in Virgo, your 2nd house of income, possessions, finances, what you value, needs, comforts and pleasures which hints at an opportunity to take action on something new in this part of your life. This sextile also forms the base of a yod, a.k.a. "finger of God," which tends to have a fated quality to it. The eye is occupied by Uranus in fellow Fire Sign, Aries, your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, legal matters, higher learning, philosophy of life, long-distance travel, other cultures and relocation. This is the part of your life in which that opportunity will be directed. Uranus is the planet of surprises, disruptions, unexpected events, rebellion, freedom, breakthroughs and so forth. He is very hard to predict because by his very nature he brings surprises. There are implications for breaking free from old beliefs that may have influenced your financial situation or perhaps even enjoying life.

Mercury retrograde in Scorpio could be pushing you toward rethinking something that hasn't been working or perhaps didn't turn out as expected. He rules your 2nd house of money and such so this further points toward that part of your life. He is conjunct the Lunar North Node which suggests that something new could come into your life as a result of changing your mind or thoughts about something. Mercury is sextile Pluto in your 6th house of work, health, service, daily activities and pets which indicates the need to eliminate or resolve something in this part of your life. Pluto can also indicate taking control, particularly given the trine between Mars, which pushes for action, and the god of the Underworld. Mercury is open to inspiration on this round of reconsiderations thanks to influences from Neptune in Pisces, your 8th house of transformations, sex, things you suppress, debt, shared resources and intense experiences.

The long-term square between Uranus and Pluto is definitely stirring things up but not necessarily in a bad way. Based on their placement in your natural houses (where you Sun Sign is your 1st house) where Pluto is in your 6th and Uranus in 9th the general theme looks like it will involve sudden changes to your expectations or attitude toward work, though health matters or even something related to your pets could be issues as well. Pluto in the 6th could indicate corruption at work or the need to eliminate something in that part of your life. Pluto is the planet of transformation and it could even indicate the need to leave your current job behind and go back to school to follow your dreams. Speaking of dreams, Jupiter is in your 12th house of dreams, visions, spirituality, enlightenment, confinement, seclusion, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing where he can lend plenty of expansive energy to this part of your life. Last but not least, Venus is in your 5th house of children, romance, ego definition, creativity, entertainment and speculation which will have the strongest influence on those of you born right around August 21. Venus rules your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings and neighbors, bringing those into the picture, and she also rules your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status. Creative thoughts toward career or status are therefore favored as well.

Since the influence of eclipses tends to last longer than the usual lunation, this may not show up immediately. On the other hand, eclipse-triggered events sometimes occur before it actually occurs, so it's possible this could happen as well. Thus you need to be on the alert for anything that looks as if it could fit this category from a week or so before and perhaps even a few months after. A nuisance, I know, especially for those of you who may be a bit short on patience, but that's the way these things work.

There is quite a bit of shifting direction going on this month with Jupiter stationing retrograde on November 7, Mercury stationing direct on November 10 and Neptune stationing direct on November 13. It's interesting that Mercury and Neptune station direct in the same degree of their respective signs which will impact those of you born within a day or so of July 25 the most. Inspiration could flow freely around that time so be sure to tune into your intuition for any interesting instructions.

The Full Moon on November 17 is in fellow Fixed Sign, Taurus, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status which implies an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase of something in this part of your life. Taking action on money matters based on new insights is one possibility which will also include discipline and responsibility. Venus has moved into your 6th house of work which bodes well for that part of your life even though there will be some challenges. By this time you should have a clearer picture of where you want to go and be able to create a vision of your destination.
