Lunations and Long-term Aspects

This month is short-changed as far as lunations are concerned thanks to the ego of ancient Roman emperors and the like who "stole" days from poor February to pad their namesake months such as July (Julius Caesar) and August (Caesar Augustus).  Since there are usually plenty to go around and then some, giving other months three when looking at New and Full Moons, this is somewhat unusual.  Thus, February has a lone Full Moon on February 14, which is Valentine's Day in many parts of the world, giving it some interesting implications given the emphasis on relationships on that particular day.  But more on that later, since this also provides the opportunity to go into Mercury's stations retrograde on February 6 in a bit more income so that you get your money's worth from this month's horoscope.  Hahahaha, probably only a Scorpio would even think of such a thing since these horoscopes are free.  Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Mercury stations at 03:20 degrees of fellow Water Sign, Pisces, your 5th house of creativity, ego definition, romance, children, entertainment, self-expression and speculation.  Mercury RX is a time to rethink, reconsider or re-plan and not a favorable time to move forward with a new endeavor; if you do it's not likely to last.  Furthermore, Mercury is in debility and fall in Pisces which means his usual hard-line logic and fact-based operations are hindered by the intuitive, imaginative and dreamlike environment.  Adding retrograde to that could either exacerbate that effect or perhaps act as a double negative and strengthen his abilities by adding inspiration and enlightenment.  That could well be the effect for other Water signs and especially those of you born right around October 27.  Furthermore, Mercury is conjunct Neptune, modern ruler of Pisces, providing even more other-dimensional energy to this station.  Since Scorpios are highly intuitive by nature this energy should feel comfortable and be of substantial use to you.  Those of you born right around November 15 may feel a bit oppressed lately with Saturn parked on your natal Sun.  This may be emphasized by this station as it becomes part of a T-square involving the Sun and Moon in the first quarter phase which can set your head and heart at odds. 

First of all, Saturn in your 1st house is about structure and responsibility, particularly as he plods past your natal Sun.  Since you're already prone to obsession you could take this too far, so bear that in mind.  The Sun is in fellow Fixed sign, Aquarius, your 4th house of home environment, memories, cultural roots, endings and new beginnings, bringing the usual annual emphasis by transit that occurs every year.  This suggests that any changes instituted by Saturn are probably going to represent some sort of challenge.  The Moon in your polar sign, Taurus, sign where she's exalted, brings a strong emotional element that involves your 7th house of close relationships which include your significant other, close friends and relatives, business partners, business professionals and competitors as well as open enemies.  This implies a relationship could be the focus of Mercury's message and relate to your ego, creativity, self-expression and how you see yourself or of course romance.  There are other conflicts as well but they also apply to the Full Moon so I'll get to them later. 

The one favorable aspect in this station chart involves Venus who has recently come out of retrograde in your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings and neighbors.  Her retrograde message often relates to identifying what you value followed by the ability to go after what you want or need with a vengeance as she dons her armor and becomes the Goddess of War rather than the Goddess of Love, which is the case when she rises as the Morning Star.  She's conjunct your modern sign ruler, Pluto, which can help you plumb the depths and add previously hidden information to the process initiated by Venus as ruler of your 12th house of inspiration and 7th of relationships these thoughts are likely to relate to those parts of your life.  The 12th includes spirituality, enlightenment, dreams, inspiration, seclusion, confinement, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing.  Give it some thought what may have surfaced in this regard of late then realize that she's tied in with the Moon in your 7th house of relationships.  The implication is that a relationship may be what you realize you value more than before.  Thus, any challenges involved in recognizing this priority will be worth confronting.

The Full Moon on Valentine's Day occurs in fellow Fixed Sign, Leo, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status.  Typically a Full Moon indicates an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase which of course has a variety of implications for the relationship focus of Valentine's Day, especially if the lunation falls in your natal chart's 5th house of romance or 7th of relationships.  (If this confuses you about houses you're not alone and can find an explanation that should help in the "Houses" section.)  Meanwhile let's look at how it may influence your 10th.  As noted, this could indicate and ending, culmination or shift with regard to your career. Uranus is in your 6th house of work, health and pets which may be causing some disruptions and surprises in that venue so it's not too surprising to see something going on in your career or status as well.  If your birthday is right around November 19 you are particularly likely to see something noticeable from this Full Moon.  

Your traditional sign ruler, Mars, may be of some assistance worth noting, particularly since he rules your 6th house of work and is forming favorable aspects to the lunation.  He's transiting Libra, your 12th house of inspiration, enlightenment, dreams, visions, seclusion, and so forth as defined above.  He's debilitated in Libra, however, where his usual propensity toward unilateral action is often inhibited by the need to cooperate with others.  Nonetheless, there is some promise of assistance so take some time to ponder or meditate on what assistance is out there.  Aries, where Uranus is hanging out, is a quincunx away from Scorpio, an aspect that suggests a change of direction or adjustment.  Thus a change is likely. 

As I often advise clients, use this cosmic energy or it will use you.  If you've been hoping to make a career change and head off in a slightly different direction now is as good of time as any to do so.  Confront any challenges head-on and take steps where you want to go.  By this time Mercury RX has backed into Aquarius, a logical Air Sign that also maintains detachment to help you sort things out.  Your 2nd house of income is ruled by Jupiter who's currently in your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, higher learning, legal matters, long-distance travel, other cultures and relocation and interacting with Venus and Uranus.  If your birthday is right around November 4 Jupiter is your special friend at this time for expanding this part of your life.  Now is the time to believe in yourself, decide what you want and then use Venus' warrior energy to go after it.  Challenges are what motivate you to go after something better.  Put it to good use.
