Lunations and Long-term Aspects

This month there is only one lunation to consider, the Full Moon on February 14 which is Valentine's Day in numerous parts of the world, placing an emphasis on relationships.  This has interesting implications considering a Full Moon typically brings an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase.  More on that later.  With less lunations to deal with I have more time and space to look at when your sign ruler, Mercury, stations retrograde on February 6 in your polar sign, Pisces at 03:20 degrees.  This opposes your natal Sun if your birthday is right around August 27.  (I'm sure the term "right around" is somewhat annoying to you Virgo types who want precision but the fact of the matter is that within one degree still counts so the day on either side is likely involved plus there is a slight fluctuation year to year regarding when the Sun is at a certain degree.  If you've ever obtained your solar return you may have noticed this where it didn't occur on the day you consider your birthday but on the day before or after, which I'm sure was annoying as well.  Sorry.)

Mercury is in debility as well as a condition known as fall in Pisces which means his usual hardline logic and fact-driven operations are compromised by the intuitive, dreamy and somewhat undefined nature to be found in this sea of Piscean illusion.  Furthermore, Mercury is conjunct Neptune, king of this environment, making the effect even stronger.  Up until now Mercury has been swimming along in this Water sign, hoping to be out of there as quickly as possible and on February 6 he will encounter a WTF? moment as he finds himself no longer moving toward the comfortable shore of Air sign Aquarius but doing the backstroke in the place he dislikes most of the entire zodiac.  Poor Mercury!  But this may not be all bad.

There are a couple possibilities with this combination.  The more favorable would be that Mercury receives a substantial dose of inspiration and/or vision from this encounter, somewhat like a double negative when combining his functionality in this sign with being retrograde.  On the other hand he may be lost completely and thus gave up and decided to enjoy his vacation.  Virgos are usually quite sensitive to Mercury RX gigs, anyway.  If nothing else, anything mechanical or electronic is likely to malfunction which of course is annoying in and of itself to someone who expects perfection.  And I assume you already know not to buy anything like a new appliance, heaven forbid a car or anything electronic during this time or you will most likely regret it for the life of the item.  Anyway, back to the station and its location in your 7th house of close relationships there are obviously various possibilities associated with this relating to someone you know.  It could also relate to work since Mercury just left your 6th house that includes work, health and pets.  Mercury RX usually is a time to rethink, reconsider or rework something so it may indicate having to go back to redo a project you thought was complete.  Since you're a perfectionist at heart this may not bother you particularly.  However, since it also involved the cusp of your 7th house of relationships it may also indicate the need to rethink a relationship, perhaps one that you didn't go into with your eyes wide open.

Clues may lie in the rest of the chart.  Currently the Sun is in your 6th house of work, bringing emphasis and attention to this part of your life.  The Sun, however, is in stressful aspect with Saturn and the Moon.  Saturn is in Scorpio, your house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and local travel and Saturn can be like hauling around a heavy tool bag.  He is serious, conservative and a strict task master.  During this transit you have probably not tended toward frivolity but have been working hard.  Saturn rules your 6th house of work and 5th house of creativity so likely you've been building something in both those areas.  In some way there is likely to be a challenge involved between this and your job or perhaps simply a time when you just can't get a break.  The Moon is fellow Earth sign, Taurus, may hold some promise.  This is your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, higher learning, legal matters, philosophy of life, long-distance travel, other cultures and relocation.  Something could be beckoning from this part of your life which is being held hostage by your workload.

However, help may be out there in the form of Venus who just came out of retrograde.  She's in your 5th house of ego definition, creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation.  Her usual message during RX is to identify what you value most, in this case in this part of your life.  During and for a while after being RX she passes the Sun in such a way that she rises before it and becomes the Morning Star and the Goddess of War; in the evening she's the Evening Star and Goddess of Love.  So right now she's in her armor ready to go after what she wants and needs, even if a fight is required to obtain it.  She is not only conjunct Pluto, providing extra power, but trining the Moon, so whatever you want you can find the energy to pursue, possibly with a vengeance.

The Full Moon on February 14 is in Leo, your 12th house of spirituality, dreams, visions, enlightenment, inspiration, institutions, confinement, seclusion, hidden enemies and self-undoing suggesting an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase of something in this part of your life.  By this time Mercury has made his way back into Aquarius, an Air sign which is conductive to logic plus being detached and unemotional about it which helps make decisions.  However, if you received a blast of inspiration when Mercury stationed don't be too logical.  You may have found already that making all decisions with your head instead of your heart does not always end well, but this tendency will depend more on your Moon sign than anything.   This is going to relate to Saturn again and have some challenges or obstacles attached.  Mars may be the helper at this point since he's in favorable aspect with both the Sun and Moon involved in the lunation.  He's in your 2nd house of income, possessions, needs, comforts and pleasures which suggests taking action on something in that part of your life.  He's in debility in Libra but that usually just means his usual unilateral decision making now requires consensus with others, which isn't always a bad thing.  Libra is also a sign that tends to be tactful and considerate which can be beneficial at times as well.

A long-term T-square between Uranus, Pluto and Jupiter is also in effect for this lunation as well as for the Mercury station.  However, this is not as harsh for Virgo as it may be for others.  Uranus is the main one who will mess with you being in Aries, a sign that's a quincunx away from yours which typically indicates a change of direction, adjustment or need to justify your current position.  They tend to be somewhat unpredictable which is Uranus' middle name, anyway.  He's in your 8th house of transformations where a variety of surprises can be expected.  These, in turn, will facilitate those changes of direction.  On the favorable side, Jupiter is in your house of friends and goals and in favorable aspect, one that usually brings an opportunity which in this case will relate to expanding this part of your life.  Pluto is in fellow Earth sign, Capricorn, another favorable trine, to your 5th house of self-expression, ego, creativity and such as previously noted.  Thus, personal growth and expansion of your social circle and goals are out there as side benefits to any changes instituted by Uranus.  As a Mutable sign you are well-suited for change and should be able to roll with the punches in a way that will assure you come out on top.
