There are a couple of aspects in effect for the entire month of May that involve the outer planets and are going to have a noticeable effect on such things as your home environment, work and/or health, and your spiritual well-being. For starters, as you may or may not recall, Pluto moved into Capricorn, your Natural 4th House of home environment, in January. He's is going to be in that vicinity until November 2024, when he permanently leaves for Aquarius, though he'll wander back and forth between the two for a while before that. If you're familiar with that TV show where they go in and completely renovate someone's house, then you have some idea what Pluto will be up to during that time. Your home environment comprises your actual abode as well everyone and everything in it. It even includes past lives, the culture in which you were raised and your feelings toward your country or homeland.

If everything about your home and all these ancillary items is in perfect order, then you'll hardly notice Pluto's sojourn. Actually, Pluto is only as bad of a houseguest as you allow him to be, somewhat like a nagging mother-in-law. If you take the hint and are open and honest about issues that need to be resolved, then chances are Pluto will be your greatest champion, ally, and motivator. However, if you have your head in the sand or are in denial in any manner, then you may not like what he digs up. In fact, you may find some of his discoveries about as charming as that dead rat your kitty cat left on your porch that time, thinking he'd given you an absolutely marvelous gift. So bear that in mind as we move on to Saturn, who's currently hanging out in Virgo, your 12th House of inspiration, dreams, and spirituality.

Saturn can be quite the task master. He insists upon structure, discipline and responsibility. While he's in Virgo this will come across in a very detail-oriented, meticulous and critical manner. Now when we place this influence in your 12th House, there's no telling what will come out of it since this House is somewhat antithetical to all that. In other words, inspiration, dreams, and spirituality don't necessarily go that well with all that strict, organized, meticulous business. Or does it?

Exactly what does your spirituality look like these days? Do you have various dreams and inspired ideas that just hover there in the background with no intent of going anywhere other than the realm of fantasy? Is your spirituality largely undeveloped, or something you've never given much thought to before? If any of these questions ring a bell, then you have some idea what Saturn may be targeting while he's passing through this part of your life. I'm sure you're wondering how long he'll be messing with you, especially in view of how long Pluto will be hanging around. You'll be relieved to know that Saturn will only be in Virgo until July 2010, when he'll leave for Libra to stay. Due to retrograde motion he'll wander back and forth over the border a few times before that. So, between now and then, he'll be helping you put some structure and discipline behind these issues that have probably not had the attention they need to bring them to fruition. You will take this part of your life much more seriously and actually spend some time working on it. If you have a dream or two you'd like to make into reality, then Saturn is exactly the one you want for a partner.

During the month of May, Saturn will be in cahoots with Pluto in a nice, friendly trine. That means these two will be working together, their respectively energies and resident houses blending in a positive manner. For example, this could bring some dream alive relative to your home. Maybe you'll buy your dream house or remodel part of it in a way you've always wanted. Maybe there have been some basic misunderstandings between the people living there that you'll finally be able to solve through some form of inspiration. Maybe it's time to bring some spiritual elements into your homelife. Whatever seems to fit your situation in this venue, the Universe is giving you some assistance. During the first week of the month there will be even more assistance in this area from Venus. Our friendly love goddess who also happens to be your Sign Ruler will be in Taurus, you 8th House of sex, death, transformation, and shared resources most of the month. Thus, if there is something you need to accomplish those inspired changes in your home such as money or a major attitude adjustment, things are looking good the first week of the month. The New Moon on May 5th gives this even more punch as the New Moon tends to usher in something new.

The other long-term aspect this month is between Jupiter and Uranus. Jupiter is also in your 4th House of home environment along with Pluto, but Jupiter's effect is usually to expand and augment what he touches. This, of course, ties in nicely if you want to do some remodeling of either a material or spiritual nature. Uranus is in Pisces, your 6th House of work, health and pets of the small animal variety and the aspect between these two is a sextile, which is another favorable relationship that usually brings an opportunity of some sort. Uranus is the planet of change, surprises and unexpected events. Since he's been moseying along in your house of work and health for quite a while now, I suspect that if you think about it you can think of numerous surprises and changes that have occurred in that part of your life over the past several years. In fact, this has been going on for so long that you now consider it normal. So, putting this together astrologically, an unexpected opportunity of some sort with either your work or health is going to result from those changes going on at home, or vice versa.

The plot thickens the first week of May when Mars gets into the act from your 10th House of career and reputation, which will probably be the factor that sets off this chain of events. Whatever big deal is going on at home will probably motivate something related to your career ambitions. Realize that your career (10th House) and work (6th House) are different for a reason. Work is your paycheck and some of the projects you do at home and so forth whereas your career is where your heart is. Those who have ever worked a day job while they worked on their career ambitions understands this concept perfectly. You may say "Do you want fries with that?" all day long, then go home and work on the next Great American Novel. Kapeche? But during the first of May, influences are in place to bring that career at least a few steps closer to being your means of support, if this is the situation you're contemplating.

This is a month when all these factors come together relative to your dreams, homelife, and how you make a living. The Sun and Venus spend most of the month in your 8th House of transformation. This implies that in order to make all this happen that you need to change a few major attitudes or maybe find someone with deep pockets who's willing to help out. Again, you know your life and circumstances and where this all fits in. It all depends on you and your decisions, anyway. Even if Whobeda had the ability to tell you exactly what was out there for you personally, it would be up to you to make it happen, anyway.

There's a lot of good stuff out there this month but it will take you to harness it and put it to work. There are a few things to look out for, however. During the second half of the month expect some tension between changes you want to make versus those spiritual aspirations. Also note that Mercury goes into one of his obnoxious retrograde (RX) cycles between May 26 through June 19. This tends to mess up communications of every description, whether it's expressing yourself verbally, cell phones, computers, traffic lights or whatever. Since Mercury will be in your 9th House of long distance travel, legal matters, beliefs (including politics and religion), and higher education, if you're pursuing anything in one of these areas expect it to be messed up until June 19. Thus, if you were going to initiate something in one of those areas you may as well wait until after that to even start and save yourself some frustration.

That said, now it's up to you to take all this information and use it. Libras are all about fairness and sometimes you may weigh things too many times and wind up indecisive, which can cause windows of opportunity to close before you make up your mind. Think about how the astrological happenings this month fit in with what you want to accomplish and decide in advance what you're willing to do to get there. It really is all up to you.
