Probably the main thing that will have an effect on Virgos this month is the fact that on May 3rd Saturn will go direct. He's been in your Sign doing the back stroke since December and I for one will be more than delighted to have that sucker get headed in the right direction again. I have a personal interest in this since I have a Virgo Ascendant and right now Saturn is sitting on it, which has an effect similar to hauling around a four-ton boulder on your back. If it seems as if nothing has gotten off of square one for months, this could well be the cause, especially if your birthday is in August. At this point I am counting down the days. So that is one good thing to look forward to.

As long as we're talking about Saturn, now is as good of time as any to talk about the trine aspect he'll be making with Pluto for the entire month. Pluto is currently in Capricorn, your Natural 5th House of creativity, children, romance, ego, speculation and entertainment. Now I can certainly think of a better place for Pluto to be other than there, but the truth of the matter is that Pluto gets a lot of bad raps, but he's really not all bad. That sort of brings to mind a t-shirt I saw once that said, "What about all the good things Hitler did?" But I digress. Pluto is easily compared to a root canal. If there is anything hidden that has a problem, he will come along, excise the poison, and thus allow it to heal. When all is said and done, you are better off. More or less.

While Pluto is in your 5th House, he will be casting his x-ray vision on a variety of things such as those 5th House items previously mentioned. One thing Pluto does a good job of, which can be quite helpful, is give you a sense of power. Thus, if there's nothing worth digging up in this House, he may empower you to take one of your creative projects and run with it. If you're into playing the stock market, he will augment your research skills and instincts in this area, which certainly wouldn't be a bad thing. He could definitely have a transformation effect on your love life, though if there's any dirt there, he's likely to find it, and if you don't handle it properly it could easily wind up on youtube or CNN. Anyway, you get the idea, and it's really not all that bad, unless there's something there that needs fixin'. Pluto will meander through this part of your chart like an itinerant handyman who stops first at the places that are in obvious need of repair. If your place is looking good, he'll leave you along. Take this as fair warning to take on any necessary do-it-yourself projects before he gets too close, though he'll be more than happy to help, if needed.

As previously noted, during May Pluto will be in trine aspect with Saturn, who happens to be in Virgo, your 1st House of personality. Saturn really isn't that bad, especially now that he'll be moving forward instead of retrograde (RX). He's all about discipline, structure, and obligation, which actually blends quite nicely with the meticulous, detail-oriented nature of Virgo. If you need a little more discipline in your life, now is your chance. You will be more ambitious and responsible than usual, which you can put to good use. Since a trine is a favorable aspect, he and Pluto will be working together for you to get hopping on something in the 5th House. Whatever it is that you'd like to work on or accomplish in that area, this month you'll have the personal where-with-all to git 'r' dun. Nothing will stand in your way with this combination. It's just up to you to put it to work, since shouldn't be too hard since you tend to be a workaholic anyway.

Another month-long aspect that could turn out to be useful will be a sextile between Jupiter and Uranus. Jupiter is also in your 5th House, but as a benefic planet, he has been probably spreading good luck and cheer. Hopefully he hasn't inflated your ego too much, which is always a possibility, but since you may tend to be a bit self-effacing, this could be a good thing for Virgos. Uranus is the planet of surprises, unexpected events, and radical change. He's in your 7th House of relationships and a sextile usually means an opportunity. Now you can do any number of permutations on this one. You may have a creative endeavor that you need a business partner to help launch. If so, this aspect's for you. If you're looking for romance, you couldn't have a nicer aspect for that, either.

Remember that relationships in this context include all one-on-ones, not just your significant other. This also includes close friends and relatives, business partners, and anyone else with whom you have a one-on-one relationship. It's also the House that includes patronage, so if you're in business for yourself, this could be quite useful as well. So mess around with that a bit, considering what applies to you, then keep your eyes open for something good to happen there as well. During the first week of the month there could be some opposition from an organization or group you're associated with, but this should be gone by around the 5th. Later in the month, between May 16 - 23, Venus will get into the act and bring you some luck in your 9th House of legal matters, long-distance travel, beliefs, and higher education. No telling what that could be, but I'm sure you'll have some idea by then.

Note that this month the Sun will spend most of his time in that same House, i.e. Taurus, bringing attention and light to it in some manner. The New Moon occurs there on May 5, which implies something new is in the works. The 9th House includes contracts, such as getting a loan, and the beliefs portion includes religion and politics.

One thing you need to look out for late in the month is the fact that your Sign Ruler, Mercury, will go retrograde from May 26 through June 19. This is really a bit of a bummer, considering that we just got Saturn going in the right direction and now we have to deal with this. Of course, this is for a much shorter period, which helps a little. This is going to occur in your 10th House of career and reputation. Thus, if you're trying to get anything accomplished in that area, moving forward during that time will be a considerable challenge. What you need to remember is that this is a favorable time to re-work, edit, re-plan or generally re-do something already in-work. Now is the time to make sure all your i's are dotted and your t's crossed. Since you're big on detail, this should keep you busy and relatively happy. Communicating about anything new, however, is not likely to make any progress. And remember, also, that during this time computers, cell phones, traffic lights, and anything mechanical is likely to be honked up in some way. Whatever you do, don't buy any of these type devices during that time or it will have a veritable curse on it for as long as you own it. I kid you not. If your car craters, you would do well to rent one until after June 19 before buying a new one.

Overall, this should be an interesting and productive month for you. Relationships look interesting and so does the creative landscape. Pluto may actually be your friend there in Capricorn as compared to when he was in your 4th House of home environment. Plutonian visits in that venue can mean anything from plumbing and electrical problems or cockroaches, to say nothing of the skeletons in the closet he can also expose. If you'll think over the past several years, I'm sure you can think of various examples of this sort of thing; now you know why and that things should definitely improve in that area, at least. You should feel as if a major burden has been lifted after May 3rd, when Saturn goes direct, and there are some very helpful aspects in effect this month to help you in various other areas. It should be a reasonably good month. Really. Not perfect, but reasonably good.
