This month the bulk of the action for Scorpios is in your mysterious 12th House of spirituality, dreams, and inspiration. This is further emphasized by the New Moon occurring in that same Sign, i.e. Libra, late in the month. This house also contains hidden enemies, so be alert to any covert actions, though that definitely seems like preaching to the choir where Scorpios are concerned. A long-term aspect that will be in force from the first part of this month through the middle of December is a nice trine between Jupiter and Saturn. Just for the record, the slow-moving outer planets are the ones that have considerable long-term effects on our lives while the inner ones are more involved in the day to day stuff. This is not to say that the day to day stuff isn't important or life-changing, only that significant changes that promote long-term personal growth can generally be traced to the outer giants such as Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.

Getting back to the Jupiter - Saturn trine, the House placements indicate this will be stirring up considerable thought activity relative to your beliefs and how they tie into your group interactions, responsibilities, and so forth. This particularly ties into whatever is going on for you on the job, since the 11th House, where Saturn is currently camped out, also includes your coworkers. If you like your current job, this is likely to be stimulating and motivating toward expanding you existing responsibilities and projects. On the other hand, if you're less than enchanted with your day job, this will probably rub your nose in that little item just a bit and force considerable ruminations along those lines. Of course "considerable ruminations" for a Scorpio usually mean you're going to be obsessing on this for the duration of this aspect, i.e. mid-December. The Universe excels at prodding us in the proper direction while still honoring our free will and inherent right to make choices. Use this energy to make a thorough assessment of where you are in life, more specifically whether you're on the right road or an extended layover in BF Egypt.

Another outer planet interaction that will be going on until the end of September and then quietly fade away is that semi-sextile between Uranus and Neptune. This particular aspect has been out there for quite a while. A semi-sextile isn't an overly-strong aspect, but in this case its more significant because the planets are in what's known as a mutual reception where each one is in the Sign the other rules, thus concentrating the energy. Neptune, planet of illusions, ideals, and deception, is hanging out in your 4th House of home environment while Uranus, planet of change, surprises, and disruptions, is in your 5th House of children, lovers, ego, and creativity. The most likely effect of all this has been to stir up various annoyances and nuisances in these areas of your life. It's particularly interesting to note that Sarah Palin's Natal Sun is currently conjoining Neptune, drawing some obviously heavy energy from this aspect in her direction. Furthermore, that Full Moon on the 15th will further energize this aspect with respect to her Natal Sun. A new phase of her life is undoubtedly unfolding and you can even see it astrologically.

At this point it's probably worth pointing out that there are some folks out there, depending on which year they were born, who will be having Uranus transits. These are times that generally comprise significant change, disruptions, unpredictability, and surprises. For Scorpios born between November 1978 and October 1980 this transit has been in a nice, friendly trine since their natal Uranus will be in Scorpio. A trine is generally harmonious, meaning positive things, but every now and then the planets pull a fast one on us in that the aspect may be positive, but they get together in such a way that no matter how much fun they may be having out there in the solar system getting a buzz off each other, it doesn't necessary mean we're enjoying the ride. A trine is definitely better than a square, however, and will usually ultimately come out quite nicely. At any rate, if your birth year falls in that range, you're at a time of significant flux in your life. As a Fixed Sign this may not be especially comfortable. It will be useful in redefining yourself in a creative sense as well as how you relate to children, lovers, and develop your self-esteem. Nonetheless, if you've felt very ungrounded and tossed about in these areas, this would be a major contributor, though the ultimate result should be not only beneficial but significant as you continue along the pathway of life. It goes without saying that if you were born during that time period with Uranus in your natural 1st House of personality, that you've had anything but a dull life anyway, so there's a good chance that a lot of this just seems like business as usual, anyway.

Now that we have all that heavy-duty long-term stuff out of the way, let's see what's going on for September. From September 4 - 8, the Sun will conjoin Saturn. This will also occur in your 11th House of groups, organizations, hopes & wishes. As implied previously, Saturn is big on responsibility, obligations, structure, and delays, and the Sun will add a burst of energy to all this. This should be helpful, however, with those previously mentioned ruminations during Saturn's trine with Jupiter. These days will be when your thoughts will be the most forceful regarding expanding your responsibilities, either in the workplace or perhaps in any other organizations in which you play a part. If you happen to be participating in a political campaign, these will especially come in handy.

Between September 3 - 18, Venus, Mars, Mercury, and Jupiter will be up to all sorts of antics. Most of this activity will shop up as mental and spiritual energy, but since Scorpios have strong powers of perception by nature anyway, this could bring some very interesting experiences. With Mars in your 12th House, that hidden enemy element pops up a bit, but the good news is that Mars' aggression is dampened by its placement in fair, gentle Libra. With Jupiter in your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors, and short journeys, this implies any expansive thoughts you may have could have some hidden opposition lurking out there, so bear that in mind if you decide to put any of those thoughts into action. Between September 7 - 18, Mars and Venus will be conjoined, which should be a useful bit of energy toward pursuing some of your dreams, perhaps big ones, particularly with Mercury in that same house stimulating thoughts and information gathering. Inspiration and insights will be enhanced, so if you're a creative type, expect some significant activity during this time. Being a benefic planet, Jupiter squares aren't as ominous as some, but what you need to look out for is over-confidence or exaggerating your abilities or resources, which could bite you later. Take the inspirational ideas and run, but don't pull out your checkbook until you use that Saturn in Virgo energy to do the math. Between September 24 - October 15 Mercury will be retrograde, further forcing you to give your plans a thorough review before implementation. If you know anything about retrograde planets, then you know that progress seldom occurs in that area during that time.

Changes or disruptions a likely as related to your organizational or group activities versus your creative endeavors, children or lovers, or possibly even getting your ego trimmed. If you're trying to get something accomplished in one of these areas, speedbumps or distractions will probably be a dime a dozen and you won't be able to make nearly as much progress as you'd like. Resistance will be futile because, believe me, the planets are a lot bigger than you are. The best you can do is roll with the punches and learn as much as you can about how to not give others a stick to beat you with, as we're all wont to do from time to time. The Full Moon on the 15th will hopefully usher all this to a close and allow you to move forward at last.

As the month progresses, Mercury will trine Neptune between September 17 - October 3. This should generate some inspirational thoughts related to your home environment in some manner. If you're redecorating, thinking about a move, or just daydreaming about your ideal environment, you should encounter some rather pleasant ideas during these few weeks. Indulge in a quiet environment that encourages contemplation and takes notes for later. Visualizing where we want to go is critical to getting there. During part of that time, i.e. from September 18 - 25, Mars will trine Neptune, giving you an extra energy boost to make it so, so take advantage of that as well.

Your Sign Ruler, Pluto, will square the Sun from September 18 - 25. If there's anyone who's not intimidated by Pluto's power, it's a Scorpio, though the god of the Underworld's placement in your 2nd House of finance, possessions, and pleasures has probably not always been a cake walk. The first few days could see something like an unexpected expense come from a group or organizational activity, though it will ultimately wind up giving you a perhaps unwanted sanity check on whether you can really afford all those dreams and such that you're now so determined to pursue. The good news is that our happy couple, that Mars - Venus conjunction, will sextile Pluto from September 21 - 25, availing you to considerable inspiration on how to handle this situation as well. No one can scheme like a Scorpio, so there's little doubt in this astrologer's mind that you'll ultimately figure out a way to get wherever it is you want to go.
