This month contains a lot of action for Virgos in your 2nd House of possessions, finances, and pleasures.  The New Moon in this same locale, i.e. Libra, at the end of the month on the 29th implies that this is leading up to new developments in that area as well.  There are a couple of long-term aspects out there this month that are worth talking about, one that will last from the beginning of September through mid-December and one that has been in force for a while and will gradually fade out by the end of the month.  First, however, I want to point out that aspects involving the slower-moving outer planets, i.e. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, also known as the social planets, not only last longer but tend to have significant influences on your life.  The personal planets for astrological purposes, i.e. Mercury, Venus, Mars, Moon and Sun, are more influential on a day to day basis.  This is not to say that they won't have a meaningful impact, only that it develops and dissipates more quickly.  That said, the first one I want to point out is a trine between Jupiter and Saturn.  A trine is generally considered harmonious, which brings pleasant or positive results.  There can be exceptions when two zodiacal bad actors, such as Mars and Pluto, get together that way, since just because the energy between them is harmonious doesn't necessarily mean it will be harmonious as far as you're concerned.  But that's the exception rather than the rule.

In this case, Jupiter is considered benefic, in other words lucky, with other keywords being expansive or gregarious.  He's hanging out in Capricorn, your 5th House of ego, children, lovers, and creativity, where he's been since December 2007.  If you look back on the time since then, you should be able to identify a few things that have happened that demonstrate increased emphasis in that part of your life.  Saturn, on the other hand, is considered malefic.  He reminds us of our responsibilities and obligations, institutes delays (especially when he's retrograde), and enforces boundaries and structure in our lives.  These are not necessarily bad things, of course, but he tends to be a stern task-master and his lessons, regardless of their value, don't tend to be included in our fondest memories.  Saturn, I'm sorry to say, is in your 1st House of personality, where he's been since last September.  Thus, if you've felt as if you've been shackled, that nothing you really wanted ever came to fruition, or that life has been rather heavy and discouraging, now you know where it was coming from.  I know you thrive on detail and are more than likely wondering just how long this wet blanket is going to be bunking down in your 1st House.  I hate to tell you this, but he doesn't leave until late October 2009 and will slip back into Virgo for a few months in the spring/summer of 2010 before moving on his way.

The good news, assuming there is any with a Saturn transit, is that his influence is strongest and likely the most unpleasant when he's conjoining one of your planets.  This is good because it's a limited time, not because it's fun.  Trust me.  Since we're talking generically for all Virgos, let's specify that planet as your Natal Sun.  (Yes, I know the Sun is NOT a planet, but for these purposes it is, so be still.)  If your birthday is between September 2 - 6, he's going to be grinding away on you this month in particular.  Those born before that have already been through it, and those born after that, well, your time is coming.  As someone who has a Virgo ascendant, I can tell you that I'm not very happy with him myself, particularly since he's also my Sign Ruler, giving him even more power for me.  If you know anyone who's really having a difficult time, fighting depression, and heaven knows what else, chances are they're having a Saturn encounter of some sort, or possibly Pluto, another unwelcome but inevitable guest.

Anyway, all that said, let's get back to our Jupiter-Saturn trine.  Since your Sign Ruler is Mercury you've probably already synthesized this information to some degree.  Whatever lessons in responsibility you've encountered during this time are now going to benefit your children, lovelife, creativity, or, at the least, your ego, which has probably taken a bit of a beating with all this.  Now is when you'll get to feel proud about how far you've come, what you've accomplished, and gotten together.  Since Virgos are organized and practical, this lesson has been easier for you to accept and internalize than many of the other signs, believe me.  As self-critical as you are, you've probably beaten yourself up even more than Saturn himself.  So you're not entirely out of the woods yet, depending on when your birthday falls, but during this time frame until mid-December, you should encounter some rewards and encouragement that were previously lacking.  For those who haven't yet had the close encounter with their Natal Sun, this aspect will give you some positive motivation and help you set your goals, but you'll have some work before you over the next year.

There is one more thing.  From September 4 - 8, the Sun will conjoin Saturn.  This means those of you with the above mentioned birthdays are getting a bit of a double-whammy since this will also show up on your Solar Return, meaning that it will actually be in effect until your next birthday, in some way or another.  It's a good thing that Virgos are organized and actually enjoy hard work, as it's likely to be there in spades this coming year.

The other long-term aspect out there is a semi-sextile between Uranus and Neptune.  I'm going to give you the Reader's Digest version on this one, however.  A semi-sextile is a scratchy aspect that tends to stir up annoyances and nuisances.  These two planets are also in a configuration called a Mutual Reception, where they're each located in the astrological sign the other rules, increasing the synergy between them.  Neptune, planet who dispenses rose-colored glasses, is in your 6th House of work, health and pets, while Uranus, planet of disruption and change, is in your 7th House of relationships.  Remember that a "relationship" in this case refers to anyone with whom you have a one-on-one interaction, so includes not only your significant other but close friends and relatives as well as business associates.

So, when you put these together in a slightly less than joyful way, you wind up with situations where you may be disappointed at work, you may not be facing the facts there or perhaps something regarding your health, and these in turn are causing upsets or disturbances with your relationships, or vice versa.  This has been in effect for quite a while now but will be fading away soon.  With your practical nature, this has probably not gotten you into as much trouble as some, but at least give it some thought and see if there's anything you can learn from it.  It's particularly interesting to note that Sarah Palin's Natal Sun is currently conjoining Neptune, drawing some obviously heavy energy from this aspect in her direction.  Furthermore, that Full Moon on the 15th will further energize the aspect with respect to her Natal Sun.  A new phase of her life is undoubtedly unfolding and you can even see it astrologically.

Next on the agenda is a dos-à-dos between Venus and Mars as they square off with Jupiter, with Mercury doing the same.  For most of the month all three are in Libra, your 2nd House of possession, finances, and pleasures, until Venus slips into Scorpio on the 24th.  Mars and Venus will be conjoined from September 7 - 18, which has some interesting implications in your house of enjoyment.  In other words, male-female relations appear to be intensified.  In addition to the gender references, however, it's worth noting that Venus also influences your finances and she's in her home base of Libra, implying good news of some sort for your checkbook.  Mars also represents drive and energy, so this couple also throws some energy in the direction of financial gain.  When they square Jupiter, (which will occur in a rolling wave of Mars first, then the couple, then Venus during about the same time as Mercury) this will get an extra power-boost.  Remember what I said earlier about Jupiter being lucky, but also bear in mind that this is a square.  What you need to look out for in this case is being over-confident or going too far with whatever presents itself to you for consideration.  Scrutinize and analyze it as you typically do and you should be fine, but don't take anything for granted.  That Mercury square could mess things up with inaccurate data or a definite sense of it being a panacea for all your financial woes where in reality it's not.  I'm not saying it will be bad, only that make sure you understand it for what it is, not what you want it to be.

Right in the middle of all that the Sun is going to oppose Uranus, increasing the likelihood of some disruption or surprise event coming along relative to one of your relationships.  Life will not be dull during the second week of the month.  The Full Moon on the 15th is in your 7th House of relationships, as well, giving this even more energy that implies entering a culmination of at least one relationship as it either ends or evolves into a new phase.

As the dust begins to settle from all that, Mercury and Mars will be trining Neptune between September 17 and roughly the end of the month.  Given their placement in your House of finance and House of work and health, it looks like good news is coming, but again, remember that Neptune gives out rose-colored glasses as a matter of course, so again, enjoy it for what it's worth, but keep in touch with reality.  My guess is that it could well be a raise or promotion that at least partially fulfills one of your dreams and I truly hope it plays out that way for you.  For those of you with birthdays during the time this one's in effect, you can look forward to improvements in this area over the next year, which should help balance out the fact that Saturn is bearing down on your Natal Sun.

Pluto is also active during the latter part of the month.  The worst will be a square between him and the Sun from September 18 - 25.  Pluto is in your 4th House of home environment.  This reads like some challenging, transformational changes are coming your way.  For those with birthdays around that time, you get to deal with it all year.  For example, maybe all that financial good news will introduce some challenges at home that are less enchanting than you'd like.  Remember that Pluto is the planet of death and regeneration, which also allows for healing of old wounds.  The process is much like surgery, where it's not much fun at first, but after that you can move on healthier than before.  These probably relate to some personal changes or improvements you need to make that will make your home a better place for all concerned.  After that, Mars and Venus will sextile Pluto, which means an opportunity is on the way, also related to your home environment in some way.  Since for the most part they're still in your house of possessions and finance, it looks like improvements of some sort are on their way.

Last, but far from least, you need to note that from September 24 - October 15 Mercury will be in another one of his annoying retrograde cycles.  As bad a reputation as this frequent phenomenon has, however, this is a good time redo, replan, and rework things.  Mercury will be in your 2nd House of finance also, as you recall, so if it's time to clean up your budget, do some maintenance on your cars or appliances, or simply take a break to review your vacation plans for the coming year, now is the time to do so.  Moving forward will be next to impossible, but significant clean-up can be made at this time so put it to good use rather than getting frustrated by the lack of progress.  For everything there is a season, and when Mercury is RX these usually means a time to review, edit, or reconsider.  Remember, especially, not to buy anything new during this time, as it probably will turn out to be a lemon.  Really.  Trust me.

Whew!  What a busy month!  I'm sure you're a bit overwhelmed by everything that is going on, but your organizational skills should keep you sane whereas others would go screaming into the night.  By best advice to you is to get lots of rest, get organized, and don't look at the world through rose-colored glasses.  But as a Virgo, you already do that, so you should be in good shape for what's ahead.
