This month is yours, Leo, as the Sun and a host of other planets parade through your Sign. It's also time for your Solar Return, when the Sun returns to where it was when you were born and begins a new cycle. The New Moon doesn't waste any time kicking things off this month on August 1st. By definition, a New Moon is a conjunction between the Sun and Moon at the same zodiacal degree, in this case 9 degrees 32 seconds Leo. This New Moon has some additional punch, however, because it's also a solar eclipse, meaning that the two bodies aren't only in the same degree, but they're also at the same declination, or distance above the horizon. A New Moon eclipse will herald a new beginning of some sort that relates to the house in which it falls and this will continue until it's closed out by a Full Moon eclipse approximately six month later. Since this one occurs in your 1st House of personality, expect something new at a personal level that will be evolving for the next several months. If your birthday happens to fall a few days one way or the other of August 1, this will have even more significance and will be in force for the entire year.

Since the New Moon is conjunct Mercury, these changes will have something to do with how you think or express yourself. The asteroid, Vesta, is also involved in that she's in square aspect to the New Moon. Vesta influences how we express our sense of dedication to service and our need for rituals. She's currently in Taurus, your 10th House of career and reputation, which implies there will be a conflict of some sort between your career and personal life. Perhaps the demands of your career will be extensive and intrude on how you want to spend your time or you'll find that you have a basic "personality conflict" with your job. Maybe the personal growth in store for you the next six months will involve identifying what you really want to be when you grow up and taking the necessary steps to move in that direction.

That conjunction between Mercury and the Sun lingers until August 5th, giving you a few more days to consider how you present yourself. You will shine during this time, even more than usual, so it's a good time to make your wishes known. One caution, however, in that during about this same time Venus will be opposing Neptune. Venus is also in your 1st House of personality until August 7th, which will further enhance your natural charm and have a positive effect on how others react to you.

However, Neptune can subject us to illusions and delusions and with him over there in your 7th House of relationships, you need to make sure that you're seeing things as they really are, not simply how you want or wish them to be. Neptune has been hanging out in that neighborhood for over a decade, i.e., since January 1998, so if you've had lots of disappointments in this area, this is probably the reason. He's there until February 2012, so don't hold your breath on him leaving anytime soon. All is not lost, however. You just need to put conscious thought behind these matters as opposed to simply accepting what seems to be the case on the surface. We always have our free will to deal with these astrological aspects, though they can tend to throw significant challenges at us. Of course the good aspects always seems to be way too short in duration, while those outer planets take their sweet time and about the only one we're usually happy with is Jupiter. And depending on where he's sitting on your chart, he might not be the greatest, either. Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are usually less than enchanting, especially in your 1st or 7th House. I've yet to hear anyone say, "I'm so excited about my Pluto transit! I wish it would last forever!" Yeah, right.

And speaking of Pluto, wouldn't you know it, he's loosely tied into that Venus/Neptune aspect. This is not necessarily a bad thing, however, in that Venus is throwing a trine his way, which is harmonious in nature. Pluto is in your 5th House of creativity, romance, children, ego and entertainment. If these things make you smile, it's because Leo rules the zodiacal 5th House so these things are truly near and dear to your heart. Remember that Pluto digs up old dirt, allowing us to clean house and move on. Thus, if there's anything in this House, which could easily tie into your relationships, this will help you figure out what needs to be done to rectify any Neptunian delusions related to your romantic relationships or those with your children.

There's yet another opposition in force during this time, and this one will last until August 12. It's not particularly auspicious, either, and involves Mars and Uranus. Mars is in your 2nd House of possessions, finances, and pleasure while Uranus is in your 8th of sex, death and regeneration, transformations and other people's resources. Mars in the 2nd House is likely to cause things to break down, so don't be surprised if something does just that. Uranus being the planet of surprises and the unexpected, it's a good bet that it will come completely out of the blue, as well. I know this isn't what you'd call good news, but it's better to expect something to happen, plan accordingly, and thus be ready when the time comes than to be blindsided. One way to use this energy in a positive way would be to take a good, hard look at your budget and make any needed adjustments. Another positive use would be to make a concerted effort to have time for yourself to relax and enjoy life a bit, particularly if Uranus throws any curves your way that stress you out. Refuse to give into frustration and negativity and rest assured that this, too, shall pass.

Mars will square Pluto, creating a T-square for a few days while that opposition to Uranus is still in effect. Therefore, you should be particularly careful from August 10 - 12 that you don't take any unnecessary risks, particularly of a financial nature. On the positive side, information will surface that will be useful, even if it's not good. If you have any investments that are not doing well, you also might want to consult with your financial advisor and see if you should move anything before that time in a proactive manner. At any rate, pay attention, or you might not like the results. Mars and Pluto will continue to be in square until August 24, so the risk will continue even though the surprise element will have dissipated. This won't be a particularly good time for romantic relationships, either, so consider yourself warned. However, regardless of the fact that Mars may be stirring things up a bit, the good news is that Venus, Mercury and Saturn are all in Virgo as well and these will bode well for working it out in a favorable way.

The Sun will oppose Neptune during about this same time, i.e. from August 10 - 20. This will actually be a good thing since the light of the Sun will help expose some of those relationship issues you need to identify before you can improve things in that area. You'll need to pay attention, however, and make sure you consciously remove anything from consideration that isn't backed up by cold, hard facts. Remember that talk is cheap and that a person's behavior tells you a lot more than anything they have to say.

Between August 13 - 31 Mercury and Venus will be in a nice, cozy bear hug. Most of that time they'll be in Virgo, your 2nd House, which will favor communications in that area. Thus, as you're dealing with all that other crap relative to your possessions and finances, the Universe is providing some extra help in finding out what you need and attracting the right people to give you solid advice. Thus, there are some things going on that won't be fun, but you'll also have some extra help dealing with it. This will get an additional boost on August 30th from the second New Moon this month, indicating something new is on the horizon.

The Full Moon on August 16th is also an eclipse, and as such will indicate the culmination of something that started with the last New Moon eclipse back in February. You'll be happy to know that this lunation brings along some rather nice aspects, indicating a positive ending to whatever it happened to be. Since that New Moon was in Aquarius, it probably involved a relationship. This will not necessarily mean it's over, but it will enter a new phase. Neptune snuck into this one as well, however, so once again take off those rose colored glasses. However, there's a nice, solid Grand Earth Trine accompanying the Moon that should tend to put things on solid ground. There are job and career implications in there that could bring either a raise, promotion, or new job your way, so keep your eyes open.

The Sun will trine Pluto from August 17 - 26. This will further serve to flush out information that has previously been hidden. This will more than likely relate to your love life, children, or speculations and should prove useful in a variety of ways. Overlapping this time, between August 20 - 31, Jupiter will trine Saturn. Jupiter tends to expand what he touches and right now he's in your 6th House of work, health/fitness, and pets. Tied into Saturn in a positive aspect reinforces those nice job and career vibes delivered by the Full Moon. This really smells like a nice raise, even though you'll probably have to take on more responsibility to get it. Since Leos generally like to lead, this probably won't be a problem.

The last few days of the month that Venus/Mercury pair will square Pluto. This will further strengthen all that Pluto business regarding unearthing previously hidden information or resolving old issues. Given that Lilith is in close proximity to Pluto during that time, there's a possibility that a somewhat unpleasant female will be involved here, if that gives you any clues to what it might be. Even if you don't like what comes out, getting it out of the way will clear the way for smoother sailing in the future. The month closes with the Sun, which will then be in Virgo, conjoining Saturn starting on August 29 and continuing well into the first week or so of September. This will further highlight financial responsibility, so if you haven't already started working on that, this would be a good time to do so.
