Long-term Aspects and Lunations This month on the 15th the companion solar eclipse to the lunar version that occurred on New Years Eve/Day takes place. This one is also a member of the 12 North family of the Saros Series which has the general theme of bringing more responsibility into your life due to the fact that someone else can no longer do so. With this eclipse in Capricorn, your 2nd House of finance, possessions, self-worth, needs and pleasures, this part of your life is likely to be affected in some manner, especially since Venus, who rules both money and relationships, is conjunct the Sun/Moon pair. The Lunar North Node is also in close proximity, indicating that something new is coming into your life in this particular venue. Retrograde Mercury and Pluto are in Capricorn as well and conjunct for the eclipse. Mercury is actually stationing, in other words getting ready to come out of retrograde and go direct later that same day. Don't expect to make much progress when Mercury is RX, particularly in the House where he's residing. This is a time for rethinking, revising, reconsidering and "re" just about anything as opposed to moving forward. The fact that Mercury is conjunct Pluto suggests that there is something hidden that needs to be discovered first. Pluto does an excellent job of exposing things that should be eliminated, that which is worn out or no longer useful, making room for something that is. You may find that this is a time when your possessions start breaking down and require replacement. It is also a time to look very carefully at your budget and spending habits. If you or anyone else has been pilfering away your resources it is going to come to light during this transit, which will last for several years. This is not necessarily a bad thing. In spite of his size and demotion to a minor planet, Pluto is very powerful and excels at digging out information that isn't readily available. If you handle this energy properly it will ultimately help you get your finances in order and significantly increase your assets. If you are and continue to be a spendthrift, however, he will probably kick your butt. Furthermore, Pluto and Mercury aren't operating alone for this eclipse. Both of them are squaring Saturn, also retrograde since January 13. Saturn is in your 11th House of groups, friends, organizations, coworkers, hopes, wishes and goals. Saturn is another planet typically considered one of the "zodiacal bad boys." His function is often to instill hard lessons where needed. Since he rules Capricorn, your house of finances and possessions, this square has even more punch. If you have broken any rules, Saturn will see to it that you won't get away with it. He's a stern taskmaster who will place restrictions, boundaries and limitations as required to assure order. Delays are also his domain along with responsibility, authority, obligations and so forth. When he's retrograde the effect is more subtle but no less powerful because he's working on your subconscious with regard to something that needs to be restructured which in this case lies in your 11th House. If you're hanging out with the wrong people, wasting your time with an organization that isn't returning adequate benefit, or your goals aren't properly placed he's going to be slowly but surely bringing this to your attention. While you should give these things considerable thought, you may not know exactly what needs to be done until the end of May when he goes direct. Since Saturn and Pluto will be in square aspect for several months to come due to each planet's respective retrograde motion this will further strengthen the effect. This will only be as painful as necessary to get your attention and put these parts of your life in order that undoubtedly relate to one another in some way. For example, if you're spending way too much money going out and partying with your friends, sooner or later you can expect a revelation to that effect, perhaps in a rather dramatic or harsh way. Remember if you don't use astrological energy it will use you in which case you may not like the result. There are two other aspects worth noting that accompany this eclipse. One is the potential for something unexpected to come up on the homefront that is going to set off the general theme of financial remodeling. The other is the fact that Mars is also retrograde, which will be in effect until mid-March. Mars is in fellow Fire Sign, Leo, your 9th House of higher learning, relocation, beliefs and expectations, and legal matters. This, of course, is the house that Sagittarius rules in the zodiac, so has special meaning for you. Mars RX works at flushing out and taking care of unresolved issues. This can be something you swept under the rug or something you started and never finished. Think about anything of that nature hanging out in your 9th House and take care of business. The Full Moon on January 30 further emphasizes Mars retrograde since it occurs in close conjunction with the god of war. By that time numerous planets will be in Aquarius, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors and siblings as well as short journeys, which often translate to all those errands and general running around you do on a regular basis. There will be considerable emphasis on this part of your life during most of February. Bear in mind that a Full Moon usually brings an ending or culmination, though this can also be a shift to a new phase as opposed to an actual ending. Sometimes it is simply on the mental landscape such as a new attitude which will ultimately change your behavior. Jupiter, your Sign Ruler, has moved into Pisces by this time, your 4th House of home environment. For the Full Moon he is quincunx Saturn, indicating a change of course that relates to your group associates or goals as applied to your homelife. Jupiter is sextile Pluto, indicating an opportunity to tie your finances into it as well. There's a chance that some annoying expense is going to come along as well that relates to your neighborhood or perhaps a sibling. This in turn may help you understand the necessity of renovating your financial picture. Daily and Short-term Aspects January 4 - 5: Give careful consideration to revising your spending habits during this time. This relates to your financial spending as well as how you use your energy. If you haven't been taking time for yourself and are on the verge of burn-out, take a close look at that as well. Taking care of yourself is important, too. January 7 - 8: Think about anything that needs to be resolved that you put off then make the needed course corrections to git 'r' dun. This could relate to such things as going back to school, taking care of a legal matter such as a contract, or involve a different culture in some way. Relocation is another possibility, though it could also simply be a needed adjustment to your philosophy of life. Now is a good time to decide whether or not you're really on the right track. January 11: Watch for something favorable to get your attention on the financial scene. It's also an excellent day to relax and take care of yourself. A minor windfall is possible. January 13: Saturn goes retrograde today, kick-starting ruminations regarding your group interactions or perhaps the efficacy of your goals. Something unexpected or disruptive on the homefront is likely that is going to affect your finances. However, this is also a favorable time to do something spontaneous with your family that you didn't plan but will be enjoyable. January 15: New Moon/Solar eclipse today as described above. Mercury also goes direct, allowing things to move forward on the financial side. It is also now okay, budget permitting, to purchase things of an electronic or mechanical nature. If you bought anything that fits that description in the after-Christmas sales chances are good it won't operate properly, but acquiring something now stands a better chance of success. Thus, if you bought anything during that RX period that was defective, now is the time to return it. Getting another one during the RX period is likely to simply replace it with another faulty product. January 18: Venus goes into Aquarius, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors, siblings and short journeys, which should have a favorable effect on that part of your life. Your Sign Ruler, Jupiter, goes into Pisces today, bringing emphasis to your home environment that could involve some sort of expansion. This could relate to the people in it, such as adding another resident, or perhaps doing something to your home itself. January 20: The Sun goes into Aquarius, further emphasizing your 3rd House as described for the 18th. January 22 - 24: This is an excellent day to take a close look at your financial goals and objectives. Consider time spent socializing as well and whether it is in proper balance with your obligations. If you've been frittering away your time in a frivolous manner, now is the time to think about being more responsible. On the other hand, if you do nothing but work and don't take a break once in a while to renew yourself, consider that as well. January 25: Another good day to think about those unresolved issues or unfinished projects and make the necessary adjustments to take care of business. January 26 - 29: If money is required to take care of that unresolved issue or unfinished project, watch for a brainstorm on how to get it today. You may have to make a choice on what your priorities really are, however. January 30: Full Moon as described above. January 31: That Saturn - Pluto square is exact today, so pay close attention to what happens as it is going to provide some clues with regard to what needs to be restructured, particularly with your financial goals. What will 2010 be like for you? |
