Lunations and Long-term Aspects

The first notable astrological event this month is Mercury, your sign ruler, stationing retrograde on October 4.  Being ruled by this planet it's likely that you feel his retrograde gigs more than most.  Especially since you are mentally active when you sense that your brain isn't operating in its usual astute manner you are quite likely to wonder what's going on.  Well, this happens about three times a year, as a rule, so if you're not already familiar with it then it's time you were.  This is a time when Mercury ruled matters, including yourself, don't tend to operate very well.  Electronic and mechanical devices as well as anything associated with communications whether it's the internet or cell phones is prone to problems.  Traffic is likely to be worse than usual, too, partly because cars are ruled by Mercury and their driver's brains as well, plus traffic signals are more likely to be messed up, too.  People are more likely to run stop signs or red lights so it's a time to be extra careful and allow extra time to get anywhere you need to go.  You may find that Mercury ruled items may be more prone to break down as well.  Repairs and maintenance during this time is fine but purchasing anything that fits this description is a bad idea.

Every time you acquire something it has a birthchart, even if it's an inanimate object, and if it has Mercury retrograde it's likely it won't function properly.  I had a refrigerator go out during Mercury retrograde a few years ago.  I lived out of an ice chest until it was over and bought a new one a few days after it went direct.  I knew that was a little soon but I live 15 miles away from town so living out of an ice chest was pretty inconvenient.  To make a long story short, the refrigerator works reasonably well but the freezer handle tends to fall off and it makes all sorts of banging noises, especially at night, that make it sound as if it's haunted.  Just saying.  If you're wondering when it will be safe to make such a purchase, Mercury stations direct on October 25 but the shadow period which comprises the time until he catches up to where he went into reverse is November 11.  He goes retrograde in Scorpio, your 6th house of work, health, service and pets so this is a likely target of these rethink/redo activities.  Later in the month he does back up into Libra, a fellow Air Sign and your 5th house of creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation.  Thus look to these areas for relevance during this period.  Those of you born right around May 24 are most likely to feel a nudge to a different direction from this station.

Also in effect about this time is a Grand Fire Trine which will have the strongest effect on those of you born right around June 7.  This is a lot of energy but don't forget Mercury is retrograde so this is a time to rethink and reconsider as opposed to taking action.  Not only should you refrain from buying a new fridge but starting any new endeavor; this is a time for cleaning up old ones, finishing anything you've been procrastinating and thus clearing the way to move forward later.  The Grand Trine involves Jupiter in Leo, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings and neighbors; Mars in Sagittarius, your polar sign and 7th house of close relationships including your significant other, business partners, close friends and relatives, competitors and open enemies; and Uranus in Aries, you 11th house of friends, goals, organizations, groups, hopes and wishes.  Okay, now think about what might be going on that involves those three parts of your life doing the mix and match routine with what they include.  if nothing else, they all involve people but since your house of thoughts and ideas as well as your house of goals are involved, it's likely you're thinking of some new projects.  This is fine, just don't start them just yet, preferably after November 11.  Use this time to clear up old things first.

Further emphasizing this Grand Trine is a Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse which occurs on October 8.  As you can see this month definitely starts out with a bang.  In addition, the eclipse is conjunct Uranus, a member of the Grand Trine, with the Sun opposing.  Eclipses are stronger and have more staying power than the usual lunation so this is likely to bring something significant.  Mercury is still retrograde, of course, and trining Neptune in Pisces, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status, suggesting some inspiration is available in this regard.  Since Mercury went retrograde in your house of work it's likely that this involves your career as well so tune into what the Universe is trying to tell you.  Opportunities are out there so watch for them and put your creativity to work as well to further enhance the energy.

On October 23 the New Moon is also a Solar Eclipse which occurs in Scorpio, your 6th house of work and such as described earlier.  Between Mercury stationing there and now a solar eclipse it's highly likely something is going on in this part of your life.  Scorpio is occupied by the Sun, Moon, Venus and Saturn at this time throwing a lot of energy in that direction.  Venus is conjunct the eclipse but she's in debility in Scorpio where she may be slightly less friendly.  Instead she may be more passionate, possessive, obsessive or even jealous, but this may not entirely be a bad thing.  This could be just what you need to go after what you want.  Inspiration is still available, so be sure to grab some of that as well.  Jupiter in your 3rd house of thoughts and ideas implies big ideas.  Mercury is retrograde for a few more days but for this eclipse is connected with Jupiter, feeding your mind.  If you already thought you had a plan use this time to examine it closely and revise it as necessary.  Saturn in your house of work also implies responsibility.  These could be a bit of an obstacle you have to deal with so give this plenty of thought as well.

On October 25 Mercury stations direct and does so trining your natal Sun if your birthday is right around June 8.  The Sun, Moon, Venus and Saturn are still in your house of work with Jupiter oscillating between creative ideas and a sense of responsibility.  As Mercury goes direct you can start fitting the pieces together with regard to what you need to do from this point on.  Remember that if you can wait until the shadow period is over November 11 that it will make it an even easier path to pursue.
