Lunations and Long-term Aspects

The first notable cosmic event this month is Mercury stationing retrograde on October 4.  As you probably know this happens about three times a year and is often a real pain in the butt.  Anything ruled by Mercury is affected making internet, cell phone, automobile and communications issues generally commonplace.  This will last until October 25 with the shadow period lasting until November 11, which is when Mercury finally gets back to where he threw it into reverse at which points things can resume at last.  It's important to avoid purchasing anything that fits those descriptions during that time.  Repairs and maintenance are okay since they fit in with this energy.  If a purchase is required, depending on what it is you would probably be better off renting if at all possible until things get back to normal.

On the positive side this in an excellent time to take care of maintenance and repair issues.  It's also a time to rethink, redo, revise, reconsider, edit and "re" about anything.  Mercury rules your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, philosophy of life, higher learning, legal matters, other cultures, long-distance travel and relocation as well as your 12th house of spirituality, enlightenment, inspiration, the collective consciousness, your subconscious mind, seclusion, confinement, institutions, hidden enemies and self-defeating behaviors.  Rethinking or reconsidering something in these areas is thus favored.  The retrograde station takes place in Scorpio, your 2nd house of income, possessions, finances, comforts, needs and pleasures so give these items some thought as well as your own behavior and how you are viewed by others since Mercury eventually backs up enough to reenter Libra.

About this same time and even a little before a Grand Fire Trine has been forming which will last through the first week of the month plus a day or so.  This is a lot of energy but it's going to get a little stalled or frustrated by Mercury retrograde as far as acting upon anything it stirs up.  If it fits the Mercury RX paradigm of rethinking and redoing then that's fine but if it's a new project or effort then it's likely to come to naught unless you can simply wait until the coast is clear to move forward, preferable into November.  Mars is in Sagittarius, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and local travel which could be stirring things up in that area.  Mars likes to take action but sometimes this can also bring action toward you as well in the form of aggression.  Be careful driving, especially during your daily commute, not only with Mars in this house but Mercury RX when people's driving skills are often compromised as well.

Uranus in your polar sign, Aries, could be stirring things up with your relationships.  These include your significant others, close friends and relatives, business partners, business professionals, competitors, cliental and open enemies.  Uranus is inherently unstable and causes upsets, disruptions and disturbances.  He's also the author of rebellion, explosions, innovation, breakthroughs and breaking free.  The third component is Jupiter in Leo, your 11th house of friends, goals, groups, organizations, networking, hopes and wishes.  Implications are that expansion in this part of your life has been stirring things up in the others.  All three houses involve people and as a person who values relationships this will have a strong effect.  While this aspect pattern will begin to break up going into the second week of October there is another factor that could increase its duration and that's the Full Moon on October 8 which is also a lunar eclipse.

Eclipses increase the energy and staying power of the aspects in effect at the time.  Furthermore, the lunation is directly tied into the Grand Trine which emphasizes it even more.  The Moon is conjunct Uranus, the Sun opposing it with the Sun sextile both Mars and Jupiter, forming a kite pattern.  Sextiles tend to bring opportunities so watch for them, all the while remember Mercury is RX which delays acting on them, depending on what they are.  Inspiration is available as Mercury trines Neptune in Pisces, your 6th house of work, service, health and pets.  If you're having money issues, which most people are these days, this could bring some inspiration on how to change a few things such as tightening up your budget or perhaps generating more income by being more efficient.  Saturn has been hanging out in your 2nd house for a while now which implies money or other 2nd house issues.  The square from Jupiter in the 11th suggests you may have goals or activities you'd like to pursue but money is holding you back.  Maybe this is what you need to be reconsidering and rethinking during this Mercury RX gig.

The New Moon on October 23 is in Scorpio, again your 2nd house of money and such as described earlier.  This lunation is also an eclipse, this time of the solar variety.  It's only a partial eclipse, unfortunately, but what there is will be visible across a swath that covers the USA from Texas to Wisconsin and into Canada.  You can go here to see a map of the path of visibility.  Your sign ruler, Venus, is conjunct the eclipse which could have some interesting effects.  Venus is in debility in Scorpio where she can be too possessive, obsessive, jealous or passionate but sometimes these are not a bad thing, depending on where they're directed.  In your house of money and pleasures maybe this is a good thing if it helps you commit to some improvements, especially since the lunation and Venus are pulling in some help from Neptune so inspiration is still out there.

Mercury goes direct on October 25 and stations conjunct your natal Sun if your birthday is right around October 10. If this is you then this station has special meaning for you.  There are likely to be some challenges associated with it but finding solutions is favored.  A station direct suggests a new start so if there is something in your life that could benefit from a reset this would be a time to kick it into gear.  Remember the shadow period lasts a while longer so true progress won't probably be apparent until then so patience is enjoined.  Set some goals to get where you want to be and then go for it.
