The first cosmic event to take note of this month is Mercury stationing retrograde on October 4.  This occurs in Scorpio, your 12th house of spirituality, enlightenment, inspiration, the collective consciousness, your subconscious mind, seclusion, confinement, institutions, hidden enemies and self-defeating behaviors.  This is the house of angels and demons which tend to operate behind the scenes.  Mercury stationing retrograde in this venue suggests rethinking or reconsidering something that resides here, perhaps something lurking in your subconscious which you would do well to access.  During the retrograde period he will back into Libra, your 11th house of goals, friends, organizations, groups, networking, hopes and wishes which suggests something in that part of your life needs reassessing as well.  Mercury rules your 7th house of relationships and 10th house of career which are likely to have some involvement as well.  Of course the parts of your life defined by the astrological houses do not exist in a vacuum and a certain amount of overlap is to be expected.

As always you can expect a variety of inconveniences during this time which involve communications, electronic devices such as computers and cell phones and also mechanical objects.  Anything ruled by Mercury tends to protest when he throws it into reverse.  Repairs and maintenance are appropriate but if something entirely tanks purchasing a new one during this time is ill-advised since those unfavorable vibes will possess it for the entire time you own it.  Mercury goes direct on October 25 but the shadow period lasts until November 11 which is when Mercury will finally get back to where he was when he went retrograde.  At this point progress will again be possible.  One year my refrigerator went out during Mercury retrograde so I lived out of an ice chest for a couple of weeks which was no easy task because I live in a rural area where I had to drive 15 miles each way to get ice.  A few days after Mercury stationed direct I bought a new one.  While it has generally functioned okay, the freezer door handle tends to fall off and it makes some might strange noises, especially at night, making it sound as if it's haunted, somewhat like Sigourney Weaver's fridge in Ghostbusters.  My point here is waiting out the shadow period is probably a good idea.

Also in effect at this time is a Grand Fire Trine which involves Mars in your sign.  If your birthday is right around December 7 give or take a few days then he's conjunct your natal Sun at some point which will bring this energy home to roost.  This is a lot of energy which is all well and good except remember that Mercury is RX which implies taking action right now may not be a good idea.  That is unless it's in synch with Mercury RX vibes which involve rethinking, revising, reconsidering, etc.  If so then this can be very useful.  One of the other planets involved is Uranus in Aries, your 5th house of creativity, romance, children, ego definition, entertainment and speculation.   Uranus tends to be quite disruptive and will bring numerous surprises.  He's the author of rebellion, breakthroughs, technology, freedom and breaking free which in this house suggests some unexpected changes, not necessarily unfortunate ones.  Innovation and creativity go well together but it could also predispose you to erratic behavior or perhaps disruptions and disturbances related to any romantic interests.  Let's just say he'll be stirring things up so ponder the items covered by this house for clues. 

The third component is Jupiter, your sign ruler, who's in Leo, your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, legal matters, higher learning, other cultures, long-distance travel, philosophy of life and relocation.  The 1st, 5th and 9th houses are sometimes known as the "Life" houses because they are tightly tied to you as a person.  The 1st represents your personality and how you're perceived by others, the 5th relates to how you see and express yourself and the 9th is your belief system and how you interact with society.  Think about what's going on in this part of your life and observe how things ramp up during this time.

On October 8 the Full Moon occurs conjunct Uranus, further infusing energy into the Grand Trine.  Additionally, this lunation is a lunar eclipse, making it not only stronger and more pervasive but also longer lasting.  This will thus extend the life of the Grand Trine as well, even though it will dissipate by mid-month.  The Sun is sextile Mars and Jupiter, suggesting opportunities which may hail from friends or networking or perhaps relate to your goals.  Again, Mercury is RX so this may apply to redoing something or perhaps re-planning.  Saturn has been hanging out in Scorpio, your 12th house of angels and demons for quite a while.  This suggests restructuring or perhaps limitations or boundaries holding you back.  This could relate back to your attitude or level of confidence.  Take a look at those areas and see what you find.  Accessing inspiration is favored which may come through a family member or perhaps simply through quiet contemplation at home.  Answers are out there but you're going to have to ask the right questions.

The New Moon on October 23 is also an eclipse, in this case a solar eclipse.  It's only partial but what there is of it is visible across a swath that goes from Texas to Wisconsin as shown on the eclipse map page you can find here.  This is in your 12th house as well with Saturn and Venus, who is conjunct the lunation.  The Sun, Moon and Venus are trining Neptune, further reinforcing the fact you can find some inspiration and enlightenment about a course of action. 

On October 25 Mercury stations direct in Libra, your 11th house of friends, networking and goals.  If your birthday is right around December 8 this should bring an opportunity your way which relates to your situation.  Start putting your ducks in a row but remember that true progress probably won't come your way until November 11, give or take a few days.
