Lunations and Long-term Aspects

The first cosmic event worth noting this month occurs on October 4 when Mercury stations retrograde in your sign which will have the strongest effect on those of your born right around October 26 since this will occur on your natal Sun.  Mercury RX is a time to rethink, redo, revise, reconsider and "re" all sorts of things.  It's also a time when communications can break down, cell phones and computers misbehave and even traffic can be a bigger mess than usual since these items and matters are ruled by Mercury.  Mercury rules your 8th house of transformations, intense experiences, sex, death and rebirth, debt, shared resources and things you suppress as well as your 11th house of friends, groups, organizations, goals, hopes and wishes so these areas are likely to be involved.  Remember that even though electronic and mechanical devices are likely to misbehave or tank at this time, if they can't be repaired it is NOT the time to buy a replacement.  Rent if you have to, but do everything possible to wait until a few days after October 25 at the earliest and better yet until about November 11 when Mercury is out of the shadow period, which means he'll get back to the zodiacal degree where he went RX and can thus make progress once more.

Already in progress at this time is a Grand Fire Trine which lasts until around October 10th or so though its effects could last longer as I'll explain in a moment.  The aspect pattern involves Mars in Sagittarius, your 2nd house of finances, income, possessions, needs, comforts and pleasures.  Mars can urge you to take action but he can also indicate you're under attack.  The next component is Uranus in Aries, your 6th house of work, service, health and pets where he is probably stirring things up there as well.  Uranus brings disruptions, disturbances and all sorts of surprises.  He rules breakthroughs, technology, freedom, rebellion, explosions and breaking away.  More than likely one or more of these things has shown up in your workplace or health in one form or another for quite a while now.  This is not going to change anytime soon.  The final component is Jupiter in Leo, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status.  Normally Jupiter in this house will bring expansion and perhaps a bit of luck.  The caveat here is that Mercury is retrograde and thus this is not a favorable time to move forward, at least with new projects or endeavors.  This is a time to rethink redo, revise, reconsider and so forth.  Thus, if there is some sort of a mess going on in one of these areas then this could be a call to action to do some fixing.

The reason the Grand Fire Trine may last longer than the pattern itself is that on October 8 the Full Moon connects with it with the Moon conjunct Uranus.  The reason for increased intensity and longevity is the fact this lunation is also a lunar eclipse.  The Sun is opposing Uranus but also sextile Mars and Jupiter, which suggests some opportunities are out there.  The Sun is in Libra, your 12th house of angels and demons, which can bring inspiration and enlightenment.  The eclipse itself, in case you didn't already notice, is in Aries, your house of work, health and pets so it's likely to show some effects.  Your 12th house includes inspiration, enlightenment, dreams, visions, the collective consciousness, your subconscious mind, institutions, confinement, seclusion, hidden enemies and self-defeating behaviors.  This implies that the answers you're looking for reside in this venue.  Thus, finding some peace and quiet or whatever conditions you need to be inspired is recommended.

Saturn has been plodding through your sign for quite a while and when he conjoins your natal Sun it's likely to be a less than enchanting experience.  Saturn transits can be heavy and oppressive and downright depressing.  This month those of you born roughly between November 12 - 17 are likely to feel this in one way or another.  I have a blog on Saturn transits which you can find here. This won't necessarily provide any answers but will at least let you know what's going on and that you're not alone.  Saturn is the Lord of Karma and when you have Saturn stalking you it's likely that every mistake you've ever made comes home to roost.  In a way it's lucky that Mercury is retrograde at the same time because this could pave the way for you to redo or revise anything that caused the problem.  It's also a time to figure out what you did in the first place and thus identify any mistakes so you can hopefully avoid making them again.

At this time there's a square between Jupiter in your 10th of career and Saturn which will perhaps inflate these issues even more.  Jupiter is sometimes lucky but I have found that he is somewhat neutral, like Mercury, and simply inflates what he touches.  Thus, if you're having some major challenges careerwise at this time, this could well be the reason.  Jupiter is part of the Grand Trine, however, so hopefully this will help but again a Grand Trine only means the energy exchange is strong and doesn't guarantee that things are going well, especially with Mars who is considered malefic and Uranus who is unpredictable.  If you're having difficulties you truly have my condolences.  On the other hand, however, you can sometimes harness that energy and use it as opposed to it using you.  While Mercury is telling you not to take action it nonetheless is time to rethink and so forth so your best bet is to use that energy to deal with your problems by rethinking them.

The New Moon on October 23 is in your sign and if this is your birthday it will probably be with you all year in your solar return.  It is also an eclipse, this time a solar eclipse, but it's only a partial one which will be visible in a narrow band the goes from Texas to Wisconsin then across Canada.  You can see where in the eclipse map here.  Venus is conjunct the eclipse bringing her energy to bear as well as the ruler of your 7th house of relationships and 12th of angels and demons.  Venus is actually in debility in your sign where she can be a bit too possessive, obsessive, passionate or jealous.  Nonetheless, this type of energy may be favorable for going after what you want if it's a major challenge.  The eclipse and Venus are trining Neptune in Pisces, your 5th house of creativity, ego definition, romance, children, entertainment and speculation, which could also provide some insight or inspiration.

Mercury stations direction on October 25 but remember the shadow period is in effect until November 11.  He does so in Libra, your 12th house and may help extract some good direction and insights from your subconscious.  Career issues are still active, but following your instincts are likely to help you deal with them as well.
