Lunations and Other Cosmic Events

This is a busy month astrologically with two Full Moons, the usual New Moon plus Venus and Uranus stationing retrograde.  The first lunation on July 1 is a Full Moon in your sign and will be conjunct your natal Sun if your birthday is right around January 1st.  The Sun is highlighting Cancer, your polar sign and house of relationships, so you could encounter the need to balance your personal drive with others, some of whom may be rather forceful about it.  Inspiration on how to mitigate it is possible, however, so tune into your intuition and higher self for guidance.  There's a nice sextile pattern out there which may help as well.  Uranus in Aries, your 4th house of home environment, memories, cultural roots, endings and new beginnings, may be providing a hectic pace these days and thoughts relative to work, service, health or even pets, may be occupying much of your time.  The silver lining to this, however, might be Jupiter and Venus in Leo, your 8th house of transformations, things you suppress, death and regeneration, debt, shared resources and intense experiences.  This is usually not seen as a very fortuitous house, but knowing you're probably a workaholic of some description, could bring a breakthrough idea to lighten your load.

The New Moon on July 15 is in polar sign, Cancer, and opposes your natal Sun if your birthday is right around January 14.  Watch for something or someone new in this part of your life.  This house is currently loaded with not only and Sun and Moon but Mars and Mercury, who are conjunct.  Mars is in the sign of his fall which I often think of as a temper tantrum waiting to happen.  Mercury, natural ruler of communications, suggests that verbal communications will be assertive, impulsive and possibly aggressive, especially if your birthday is January 5.  You folks already have enough issues to deal with considering that Pluto is sitting on your natal Sun.  Who will throw the spark that ignites the explosion is hard to say, but if you feel as if your autonomy and control is being threatened or someone in your close circles feels that way, it's likely to come out.  Jupiter and Venus are still in your 8th house of transformations with surprises or a hectic pace at home driving them to make a favorable change.  This may be difficult due to someone or several someones putting demands on you.  Your sign ruler, Saturn, is in your 11th house of goals, friends, networking, groups, hopes and wishes trying to restructure that part of your life as well, which could be conflicting with change as well.  Take this time to step back and take a close look at your life, whether it has sufficient balance, or is too heavily weighted in the work and security direction.  As a fellow Cappy I know what it's like to be a workaholic and will take these lunations to heart  myself.

Venus stations retrograde on July 25 shortly after she sets foot in fellow Earth Sign, Virgo.  Since this is the sign of her fall it's like she decided she wasn't quite yet ready to step further into that cold water.  Virgo is your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, legal matters, higher learning, long-distance travel, other cultures and relocation so this blast of energy in the initial degree should give you something to ponder in this part of your life.  Your 8th house of transformation is still highly occupied with conflicts and resistance remaining that relate to your goals.  One key to resolution could lie in following your heart as far as your goals are concerned, perhaps with the help of someone close to you who can help you sort through your priorities.  If things have been hectic on the homefront, this could come from someone like a significant other who finally insists you put the brakes on a few projects.  If your birthday is right around December 22, this will have more influence which should turn out to be of a positive nature.

Venus rules your 5th house of romance, children, creativity, entertainment and speculation as well as your 10th house of career so that further brings these areas under review.  Hopefully you have taken the time to observe the lovely light show that Venus and Jupiter have been performing in the western sky after sunset.  This will continue for a while with Venus functioning as the evening star, when she is considered in her role as the goddess of love.  After she goes retrograde for a while she will get lost in the glare of the Sun and then eventually precede him such that she become the morning star, a time when numerous ancient civilizations saw her as the goddess of war, clearly the reverse of her usual persona.  Thus, this can be a time when you don your armor and go after what you really want as well as reassessing whether any parts of your life require a reversal as well.

Uranus stations retrograde the following day on July 26.  If your birthday is right around January 11 this will have a stronger influence and could bring a few surprises or disruptions your way, possibly involving a relationship.  Those goals and friends are still making some demands that need you to make some fundamental changes.  This is a time when you need to carefully assess what your long-term goals really are and what needs to be done to reach them. 

The Full Moon on July 31 is in next door sign, Aquarius, your 2nd house of income, possessions, needs, comforts, finances and pleasures and suggests an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase of something in this part of your life.  The Sun is in your 8th house of transformation so this could bring the coup de grace to get your attention even while someone close to you continues to push you in a new direction.  This could be a case where resistance is futile or will cause ongoing problems if ignored.  if there is someone you feel is holding you back, this could be the time when you address it once and for all.  You also need to consider if maybe they're right.  Maintain an open mind, gather the information, consider it objectively, and then take steps in the appropriate direction.
