New Moon

This month's New Moon occurs in Leo and is holding down one corner of another course adjustment loop, sometimes called a learning triangle. This is the one I've mentioned previously, the "that's not working so let's try something different" aspect pattern. This cycle will be triggered by the lunation and relate to the house noted above. The conflict will involve reality versus fantasy in some way and will need to be resolved if you want to make progress. With Mercury now in the sign he loves more than any other, i.e. Virgo, where he is exalted as well as its ruler, information is likely to flow easily, provided you don't insist on being deceived. Disinformation and lies are so prevalent these days, it's hard to discern what's fact and what's illusion at best and an overt lie at worst. Your view of the world may be challenged by this forthcoming information, placing you in fighting mode. We'll defend our beliefs very aggressively, even in the face of evidence that's hard to deny. Beliefs are like that, such that what we consider truth is often only our own definition of truth and not fact.

Note that Mercury goes retrograde on August 30th, so some rethinking and reconsideration may be coming your way. This retrograde gig will keep Mercury in Virgo for an extended period, over two months, where at other times he whips through a sign a a few weeks, like he did with Leo. If he's going to get stuck somewhere, Virgo is certainly a good place to do so. This will facilitate communications including any compromises that need to be done. It's also a favorable time for repairs and getting caught up on those things you've been procrastinating.

Jupiter is still in Virgo and unlike Mercury, he's not well-placed. Virgo is the sign of his traditional debility given his expansive, 10,000 foot view clashes with Virgo's propensity for detail. Furthermore, with his philosophical, over-confident way of seeing things, he's likely to either overlook key facts or possibly become hyper-critical and picky about whatever is found. He might uncover a few surprises or things that cause disruptions and cause another need for an adjustment, though this change could be for the better, especially if it relates to love or money.

Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse

The Full Moon on August 18 is also a Lunar Eclipse, giving it additional strength and staying power. It occurs in Aquarius, with the natural house it represents for you noted above, which is where to watch for an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase. Any surprises or disruptions that came about with the New Moon as noted earlier under the New Moon will be involved and be emphasized by the lunation since the Moon creates an aspect pattern known as a yod, a.k.a. "finger of God", with Jupiter and Uranus, which is the planet responsible for those surprises or disruptions. Uranus also presides over such things as breakthroughs, breakups, technology, innovation, disturbances, rebellions, explosions and so forth and is unpredictable by nature. Whatever he is up to, Jupiter will exaggerate. Mercury is sharing the eye of the yod with Jupiter, so new and information are likely to be coming forth in a virtual tsunami.

By this time, Venus is in Virgo as well and she doesn't do well in this meticulous, picky, perfectionistic environment, either. Her condition is known as "fall" so rather than being receptive and loving, she's likely to be more of a nag, especially about things from the past. She might also want to take control or wield her power. In other words, she is likely to be riding her broom a few months early, so if you irritate someone of the female persuasion or possibly have a situation related to money, you might want to summon as much tact as possible first. Change which could be unduly abrupt is possible and it may be a situation where resistance is futile.

OTHER COSMIC EVENTS

Saturn stations direct on August 13, which will start getting things moving again. I don't know about you, but I'm ready. While retrograde, things tend to move slower than usual and bump up against boundaries and obstacles creating a two steps forward/one step back scenario. Saturn RX typically is a time when something that needs to be restructured is rumbling around in your subconscious. About the time he stations direct whatever this is will surface in your conscious mind and by the time Saturn exits his shadow, which will be in November, the matter should be settled. The chart for this station includes a nice Grand Fire Trine which comprises the Sun, Moon and Uranus which promises a fiery rebellion of sorts that relate to heart-felt philosophical views that are probably quite self-serving. Given the political climate these days, this looks like some major assertions will come out that is going to involve more information from the past and perhaps exposing more corruption. Fiscal responsibility as well as the reciprocity critical to relationship success will be stirring things up as well, with more deception or delusion (possibly self-inflicted) likely.

If your birthday is right around December 1, Saturn stations direct on your natal Sun. This may be a less than enchanting feeling which has dampened your usual enthusiasm and zest for life since Saturn has quite the reputation as a wet blanket and Lord of Karma. This is a time for rebuilding and restructuring which is going to present some challenges. There's a lot of energy in your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status, which could keep you so occupied that concentrating on anything else is difficult. Things at home may be undefined, confusing, or indecisive. However, this is a favorable time to get in touch with what you really want from life. Reinventing yourself, breaking away from old self-identities and redefining your philosophy of life are all favored as these challenges teach you what is most important and what you want the most.

Mercury stations retrograde on August 30, so we no sooner get Saturn moving again and Mercury throws it in reverse. This is the time to rethink, reconsider, redo, repair, and "re" just about anything. As always, starting a new endeavor at this time is ill-advised because it's likely it won't be thought through properly and come to naught. Buying anything electronic or mechanical is a particularly bad idea since these items are ruled by Mercury. Even though cars tend to be on sale this time of year, buying one with Mercury RX is ill-advised unless you enjoy owning a lemon. Since Mercury stations at the last degree of Virgo, it gives me the impression that he was just ready to step into Libra but changed his mind, preferring to stay in his favorite domain for a while longer, which will certainly be the case with him there until October 8. By this time, Venus has slipped into Libra, which she rules, making her dignified, which will be favorable for negotiations and relationships in general; much better than the Venus - Mars square that was in effect for a while. A tense T-square is in place that looks like more arguments of a philosophical nature with more confusion and deception involved. Changes of direction based on information from the past could facilitate action. Uranus, king of disruptions and surprises, is unaspected, which makes him even more erratic and volatile, so no telling what he might stir up, especially if he aspects something in your chart.

If your birthday is right around December 21, Mercury stations retrograde squaring your natal Sun. Mercury rules your 7th house of relationships and 10th house of career and reputation so these are likely areas to look for Mercury's message to rethink, reconsider, revise, re-plan and so forth. There is still a lot of energy in your 10th house and Mercury will be there for a long time. On the positive side, this is the sign where Mercury is exalted and functions best. Thus, his long sojourn in Virgo can have advantages. Expansion and attention are yours, so now is a time to rethink your strategy for this part of your life. Challenges are these, but these could be self-imposed and invigorating. It's all a matter of your attitude toward them. Pluto in your 2nd house of needs, possessions, income, comforts and pleasures and encouraging you to get rid of anything you no longer need and take control of this part of your life. Taking action is favored toward seeing things in a new way.
