New Moon

This month's New Moon is in Cancer, a Cardinal sign that introduces a new season with a solstice, summer in the Northern Hemisphere and winter in the Southern. This lunation opposes Pluto, suggesting there will be an emphasis on Plutonian influences which include power, control, eliminating things no longer needed, unresolved matters from the past, exposing corruption, things that are suppressed, and intense experiences in general. The New Moon is flanked by Mercury and Venus, which are both involved with this opposition to Pluto, further strengthening it with a lot of attention suggesting news or information or old relationships that may contain some baggage, no matter how deeply it's stored.

The lunation is also part of a Course Adjustment Loop which comprises a quincunx with Saturn, a square from Saturn to Neptune and a trine from the lunation to Neptune, forming a closed loop. This is the one I usually call the "Oh, crap, that didn't work so let's try something different" aspect pattern. The conflict is likely to involve responsibility of some sort versus your dreams or possibly idealism, where the real world and the one you'd like to reside in clash. Thus, this could be about confronting reality as much as anything, which is not always a positive experience. That opposition to Pluto noted earlier is likely to be involved as well and could facilitate this situation. All is not lost, however, provided you make some adjustments and are willing to move in a slightly different direction other than where you were originally headed. This is possibly about compromise if you've felt overly stuck and unhappy. Perhaps the involvement with responsibility is that you assume too much and need to cut yourself a break. Conversely, if you've been goofing off and not meeting your obligations, then this would be about shaping up. It all depends on your circumstances which way this needs to go.

There's another course adjustment loop, but it's not quite as powerful since it doesn't involve the New Moon as well as Mercury. This one involves Uranus, Venus and Mars. This one really looks as if it involves a relationship. Like the other one, it could involve one that needs to end or perhaps one that needs to get started. Mars just barely came out of a long, drawn-out retrograde period that began April 17 and ended June 29. He's just getting moving again, so now is the time to start taking action on anything that's been stuck, one way or the other. Money could be involved with this one as well, perhaps an investment you've been thinking about. A sudden change of direction is possible, though some challenges or resistance are likely.

Full Moon

The Full Moon this month is in Capricorn and reinforces that second course adjustment loop described above. A Full Moon typically brings an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase, so whatever was brewing earlier is likely to require action. Following your heart looks advisable. Like the New Moon, this one also has another course adjustment loop, which indicates there will be lots of changes of direction, compromises, a need to defend your position or perhaps Catch-22 situations where you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. This one reverberates with responsibilities versus dreams where information and perhaps money may decide which options are available. Learning from the past is important at this time and may be what clarifies what needs to be done. Whatever the New Moon brought along earlier the Full Moon is likely to clarify, which should help you sort things out and make some decisions.

OTHER COSMIC EVENTS

Uranus stations retrograde at 24:30 Aries on July 29, which tends to stir things up. Uranus rules such things as sudden change, the unexpected, disruptions, disturbances, explosions, rebellions, breaking away, freedom, innovation, and technology to name a few. He's already unpredictable by nature and he becomes even more erratic when retrograde. Since this year has already been pretty interesting so far, this is likely to make it even more so. The chart is not particularly dramatic, but that doesn't necessarily mean this time period won't be.

The trine from the midpoint between Venus and Mercury to Uranus suggests surprising news that could involve money. Mercury is squaring Mars, who is direct and moving, finally, and in dignity in Scorpio, sign of his traditional rulership. This implies bold, passionate action of some sort that is going to bring out new information, which in turn will be an influence. A change of direction is likely due to something related to the past, which will have some emotional elements but be the logical choice. This could be due to a confrontation with authority figures, who bring something to light. Irritations and annoyances related to details, which could be overwhelming, are another factor. With everything going on in the world these days between the USA elections and Brexit/Bremain, there's bound to be plenty of surprises.

If your birthday is right around April 14, this station will take place conjunct your natal Sun. This puts you at the center of this and could bring a sudden change of direction or other surprises your way. These could come from news from your children or perhaps related to romance, entertainment or speculation. Rebuilding your sense of responsibility is likely to be a factor as well.
