Full Moon

This month's Full Moon on 12 March suggests friction and annoyances in a few areas, including belief system clashes with people you're close to, whether it's your significant other, close friends or relatives, business partners, competitors, or open enemies. Of course, problems with that last category would probably be expected and likely to be why you're enemies in the first place. Another potential area for discord is related to idealism that ignores reality in the form of facts, yet fosters rebellion. Adjustments and course changes will be required, which will be best achieved through good communications. Logic is not prevailing at this time, but heart-to-heart dialogs are favored, which is probably more appropriate under the circumstances than dueling with facts. This is a time to make peace with those with whom you've had disagreements over such things as politics, which has been causing massive divisions and contention, often destroying long-term relationships. Discord and breakups are undoubtedly the hallmark of that Uranus-Eris ongoing conjunciton.

This is a time to recognize that reasonable people can agree to disagree, and if you can't debate your different views in a non-contentious way, then maybe the subject needs to be labeled taboo. It's no wonder that religion and politics are often considered just that. Beliefs are formulated over time, based on information you receive, accept and internalize, and won't change with a full-frontal assault. Sharing the information that motivated you to form your opinions can be one approach, though with all the "fake news" and disreputable sources out there these days, both of you need to be as open-minded as possible to the chance your data isn't accurate. Adopting the admonition to "Question Everything" is advised. And remember, your brain won't fall out if you're open-minded.

While the source of the ongoing tension, a T-square between Uranus, Jupiter and Pluto, is still in force, at least Mars has moved into Taurus, which will slow some of the momentum, but it's only temporary; the Sun and Mercury are headed for Aries, so the New Moon will kick things off again. At least Mars has moved into Taurus, which slows him down somewhat, though he does tend to operate like a bulldozer in that sign. Meanwhile, at least for now, the Full Moon provides some opportunities to pursue the details, uncover facts that have been covered up or hidden, and rebuild your world-view. It's hard to know whom to believe, so working on your intuition while the Sun and Mercury as well as Neptune are in Pisces is a good idea. Make time for some soul-searching, avoid self-deception, identify what you truly value (which Venus retrograde will foster; more on that below), and make the needed attitude adjustments. If nothing else, note that negativity is not the path that will bring improvement. As Maya Angelou said so profoundly, "Hate: It has caused a lot of problems in this world but it has not solved one yet."  There are times that taking up the sword is required, but be discerning enough to make sure the enemy is truly whom you perceive it to be and not an illusion.

New Moon

The New Moon on 27 March ramps things up again as the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus retrograde (the goddess of war as she becomes the morning star) convene in Aries. Eris, goddess of discord, is there as well, in lock-step with rebellious and explosive Uranus, which is increasing this potentially violent energy even more. That troublesome pair is in a group hug with Mercury, indicating the potential for arguments and a possible directive forthcoming from those in authority. At least Mars is in Taurus now, which tames him down a bit, but the stubborn persistence inherent in that sign imbues him with determination to move forward, albeit slowly. Mars is sextile Neptune, an interesting combination between two very diverse energies. Whether this will provide insights and patience or confusion and volcanic fuming is hard to say.

OTHER COSMIC EVENTS

Venus is retrograde again, starting March 4 through 15 April. You can learn more about the astrological implications of this cycle here. Here's an excerpt of particular interest on that link which bears repeating, given the current world situation:  "As Erin Sullivan points out in her landmark work, Retrograde Planets: Traversing the Inner Landscape, "...this is a time to particularly watch the news with regard to what is going on at the international level as far as diplomatic issues are concerned.  The Maya believed that when Venus reached her heliacal rising stage, just prior to when she becomes visible as the Morning Star, that political situations were particularly unstable and leaders insecure and fallible. Astrologer Bruce Scofield states that this time 'often corresponds to a time of failure or resignation on the part of leaders and often coincides with a major accident or storm.'" 

Back in 2010, the USA's mid-term elections occurred during Venus RX and there was a rather impression "changing of the guard" at that time. No telling what will come upon us now. The station chart certainly contains some interesting implications, given the usual character of Venus RX demands that you examine your values. Mercury and Neptune are within ten minutes of arc of being in exact conjunction and only a few degrees downwind of the Sun, throwing focus on introspection and seeking inspiration to augment what could be false information. This stellium is semi-sextile Venus RX, definitely further emphasizing her theme. What are the facts and can you find them? Uranus and Eris are cozied up to Mars in Aries, still unfriendly, while the Moon is 29:26 Taurus, the last degree of a fixed sign, which implies a permanent ending. The question is, to what? My impression of Saturn's trine to the Uranus-Eris-Mars stellium is that it's throwing cosmic gasoline on an already raging fire. Trines are not always friendly, only an easy energy exchange which can be rather negative when malefics are concerns.

If your birthday is right around August 6, this station trines your natal Sun, giving it additional impact. This occurs in your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, philosophy of life, legal matters, higher learning, long-distance travel and relocation, so this is one area to look for useful insights that could change your attitude and view of life. Venus rules you 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, and neighbors, as well as your 10th house of status, reputation, career, and public image, so these are likely to be affected as well. When Venus stations direct next month, it will be in your 8th house, which includes life-changing experiences, so expect something important to come your way.

A new season begins on March 20/21 with the Sun's ingress into Aries, which marks the Vernal Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere and Autumnal Equinox in the Southern Hemisphere. Ingress charts for Cardinal Signs, which mark the changing of the seasons, tend to also reflect the character of the three months to come. This one suggests more "fake news" based on the semi-sextile between Neptune and Mercury, which is likely to be unfriendly and pointedly aggressive. Venus, as noted earlier, is retrograde, and thus not too friendly, either, and semi-sextile Mars, which looks like relationship issues, perhaps on an individual level as opposed to groups, which Jupiter in Libra is affecting as part of that ongoing and contention promoting T-square. With the Moon in partile conjunction (within 5 minutes of arc of being exact) with Saturn, those edicts from authority figures at all level are likely to contain an emotional element. When Saturn goes into Capricorn in December, hopefully we'll see less noise, hand-waving, and high-and-mighty attitudes from our leaders and more significant progress. There are some rather worrisome implications at having both Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, but let's not deal with that until 2018.
