NEW MOON 

The New Moon this month on 9 September is at 17:00 Virgo. This lunation forms an interesting sextile pattern with Pluto in Capricorn and Jupiter in Scorpio. This pattern comprised of soft aspects tends to bring some luck or favorable energy exchanges. The trine to Pluto implies seeing something from the past in a new way, perhaps due to the availability of more details, and an opportunity to change your view of things. The Grand Earth Trine is back, this time thanks to Mercury connecting with that long-term trine between Uranus and Saturn. Grand Earth Trines work well for generating common sense, grounding energies which can be useful if you're trying to rebuild some part of your life. Saturn stations direct this month a few days before the lunation, which means it's time to quit ruminating on the matter, albeit subconsciously, and start putting your plan together or perhaps in action.

Venus has just gone into Scorpio, a sign where she's a bit off from her usual self and can exude more passion, obsession, and whatever it takes to get what she wants. Her opposition with Uranus in Taurus calls for balance and thinking through any actions carefully that may be spiteful or a tad rebellious. Her sextile to Saturn should help bring some stability and leverage her way, which should be a good thing.

Jupiter is not only at the apex of that sextile pattern but also mitigating the opposition between the lunation and Neptune, which has been in effect for a few days. An opposition needs balance between these opposing forces which probably involve clarity on a misunderstanding or perhaps a dream or vision you've been nurturing that is too unrealistic to ever come to fruition. For example, if you think that winning the lotto will solve all your existing problems clearly you don't know much about probability or living within your means. We all want too much these days with so many tempting material goods taunting us from all directions. Jupiter may bring some luck your way (maybe even the lotto, but don't hold your breath) but mainly a more philosophical view of things to help you work things out in a reasonable manner.

FULL MOON

The Full Moon on 24 September is in Aries, implying what could be a potentially abrupt ending or shift to a new phase of something in your life. Mercury conjunct the Sun in Libra brings the potential for conversations and communications. There are several planets in early degrees, so the lunation is kicking off quite a bit of action. First of all, the lunation forms a partile T-square with Saturn in Capricorn, suggesting tension with regard to responsibilities or obligations. Thrown Uranus into the mix and you get a Course Adjustment Loop or leaning triangle that implies the solution is a change of course or adjustment, though a Catch-22 situation is another possibility. Also tied into the lunation is Mars who, thank heaven, is no longer retrograde. He's at the apex of a Triangle of Potential implying that any arguments might do well if mediated by a neutral third party. However, there's another Course Adjustment Loop comprising Mars, Uranus and the Sun/Mercury conjunction, which implies that there is some resistance to change muddying things up.

Remember that a Full Moon typically brings an ending, culmination, or shift to a new phase, and there are a lot of dialogs going on out there which, if conducted properly, can help get rid of any stalemates hanging around in the shadow of the various retrogrades we suffered through this summer. Annoyances and frustrations are definitely out there, but Mercury encouraging communications should help find a way that everyone can accept and live with.

OTHER COSMIC EVENTS

Saturn stations direct on 6 September, a few days before the New Moon. This is always good news and helps get things moving a bit faster. Saturn retrograde tends to throw various obstacles about and slow things down enough, plus we had Mars retrograde exacerbating it even more. So if you've felt as if you were stuck in the mud, this feeling should start to dissipate at last. The Grand Earth Trine noted for the New Moon is in effect and since Saturn is part of this trio, that stationing energy gives it a great jump-start that gets distributed rather nicely. This suggests some innovative advice from someone older and wiser the help get you on track.

This is likely to be needed, given the T-square between Mars, Venus, and the Moon, all in Cardinal Signs which suggests everyone wants their way. Venus is in her dignity in Libra while Mars is exalted in Capricorn, though he's getting ready to leave fairly soon. The Moon is in dignity in Cancer, so all three members of this triad are strong, making this look like a standoff between some determined individuals. Hopefully the common sense coming from the Grand Earth Trine will help.

The sextile between Jupiter and Pluto suggests an opportunity to learn from the past or perhaps resolve something that's been out there for a while, perhaps that dream or vision that simply is too inflated or lacking a viable plan to have a chance. Again, all that practical, common sense out there should help. Those of you whose birthday is noted as affected by the Full Moon will also feel this station, since it's also at 2 degrees, and Saturn is going to be parked in that degree for the remainder of the month. I am less than enchanted by this since that also means that Saturn will be parked on my natal Sun until the last half of October, which isn't exactly a comfortable transit. Hopefully it will help all of us get it in gear and start making progress that's been lacking for quite a while.
