Review of Steven Forrest's "The Book Of Neptune"

"If you feel as if you've lost your footing, are sinking in quicksand or adrift on a large body of water with no land in sight, there's a good chance that Neptune is involved.
If that's the case, I can't recommend this book highly enough." --Whobeda
(Ending, culmination, or shift to a new phase)
(Brings something new into your life)
Date: 5 June 2020 Date: 21 June 2020
Position: 15:34 Sagittarius (Strongest influence for those born ~8 September) Position: 00:21 Cancer (Strongest influence for those born ~23 August)
Natural House: 4th Natural House: 11th
Influences of the 4th include your home environment, memories, cultural roots, endings and new beginnings.  This covers a wide array since besides the home and upbringing-related matters, it also represents the ending and beginning of any new cycle.  With a Full Moon, which also indicates an ending or shift to a new phase, this is more likely than usual to bring something important that you'll notice. Influences of the 11th house include friends, groups, organizations, networking, hopes, wishes and goals.  This is a time when someone new, a new involvement with a group,  or a new goal could come into your life.  Some also consider it the house of big gains.  This is an excellent time to get out there and network, meet some new friends, or get involved in a new group or organization. Checking on the status of your goals or making some new ones are also favored.

The Full Moon on 5 June is also a lunar eclipse, which will give it some additional punch and staying power. The eclipse will be visible in Europe, Africa, and Asia but not in the United States or South America since it occurs during daylight hours. The coolest places to observe it will be those where it occurs when the Sun is just setting as the Moon rises. The zodiac is still quite lopsided with four empty contiguous sign, i.e. Leo, Virgo, Libra, and Scorpio (Sagittarius would be empty except for the Moon) plus Aries. There's a lot of Mutable energy out there, which is seldom very motivating. Mars in Pisces is forming a partile T-square with the eclipse, which implies having a lot of thoughts and opinions, but either nothing to be done about them or simply being too lazy or confused to care.

There seems to be a lot of comments lately about time slowing down. It seems the days are longer and remembering what day it is can be quite a challenge. For those whose entire lifestyles has changed the past few months this might make sense, but my life has not changed that much and I'm noticing the same thing. I suspect that Mars in Pisces may have something to do with it. The red planet is the one who gives us drive and energy and he's off on vacation in the cosmic equivalent of the Bahamas floating on an air mattress in a pool with a huge pina colada.  Venus retrograde is squaring Mars, which has been in effect for quite a while. Her influence could relate to assessing what your wants and needs are based on the past few months. I would think a lot of priorities have changed, new insights have been gained, and many things will never be the same. However, this square suggests that what you want is not going to happen for a while. Saturn retrograde is also contributing to delays.

A lunar eclipse tends to operate on the emotional level, which will lend some extra energy to these ruminations. Your mind alone is seldom enough to get your fired up about something, but once you put your heart into it things begin to move. In theory, anyway. My observation, both personal and input from others, is that Mars in Pisces is messing with our ambition, big time. Thank heaven on 29 June he'll leave Pisces behind and go into his dignity in Aries, where he will remain for quite a while since he'll go retrograde in that sign 9 September and not leave for Taurus until 7 January 2021. Bear in mind some of the action we might see during that time might not exactly be what we'd prefer.

The New Moon is a solar eclipse that occurs 21 June. It's visibility is in an arc that includes part of the Middle East, India, and that general region. There are a few noteworthy things with this eclipse. First of all, it's occurring at 00:21 Cancer, which is a solstice (summer in the Northern Hemisphere and winter in the Southern Hemisphere). When the Sun goes into a Cardinal Sign (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn), the seasons change. It is a significant turning point, so an eclipse on this day is important. These seasonal change charts are also called Ingress Charts, for when the Sun enters them. Such charts are used for mundane astrology, geopolitical astrology, and such things as predicting weather. (In case you're unaware, The Old Farmer's Almanac is based on astrology.) In other words, this is a chart that will have an influence throughout the entire season.

Mercury is retrograde in this chart, which is certainly not something to celebrate. Mercury retrograde can be useful for rethinking, reconsidering, revising, editing, etc. but it's not a favorable time for communications or moving forward in general. If you're a Gemini or Virgo Sun or ascendant, you are more likely to notice these spells when you sign ruler is not functioning properly. Internet connections, phones, and anything electronic is usually misbehaving as well. If that lasts for the entire season on the mundane scene, that's certainly not good news. Venus is retrograde as well. At this point she is several degrees behind the Sun and is thus visible as the Morning Star. This is nice for you early risers but bear in mind that for millennia many cultures considered Venus as the Morning Star as the Goddess of War. Couple that with Mars heading for Aries for an extended stay and make of it what you will. She's in a wide trine with Saturn which brings these battles to entities ruled by that planet such as governments, corporations, and authority figures in general.

Speaking of Saturn, the eclipse is in partile quincunx to Saturn. (Partile indicates a strong aspect where the planets or luminaries involved are in the same degree of their respective signs.) A quincunx indicates the need for a change of course or adjustment. As noted earlier, Saturn RX is associated with delays. Other effects include obstacles, boundary issues, and signaling something that needs to be rebuilt or restructured. Things are bogging down and this eclipse is making it clear that something needs to change, but that is likely to not happen overnight.

Mars is still in Pisces on vacation in the Bahamas and, to make things even a little worse, hanging out with Neptune. This will end in a little over a week, at least, but for the sake of this eclipse and Cancer Ingress (meaning it has staying power) that indecisive lack of energy or perhaps even caring continues. The sextile with Jupiter and Pluto from Mars suggests that anything going on with regard to ethics investigations and Pluto doing the roto-rooter thing looking for corruption is likely to encounter a lot of inertia, confusion, and lack of action as well. If you've been looking forward to the world getting back to normal this summer, this seems to be saying that's not likely to happen, at least to the degree you would prefer.

Mercury stations retrograde on 17 June, just before the solar eclipse. This occurs in Water Sign, Cancer, which adds a rather large dose of emotion. Mercury isn't aspecting any planets or luminaries, so this suggests this lack of progression is going to be felt at the home and family level. If this is your birthday, note that Mercury stationing will thus be part of your solar return for this year. This can be useful, however, depending on which natal house it falls in. It will often give you a chance to take care of unfinished business in that house, which can actually come in rather handy. The station chart has some aspect patterns that will provide a few more clues to what this retrograde period will be like. The sextile pattern between the Moon; the Mars/Neptune conjunction; and the Jupiter/Pluto conjunction implies some stabilizing influences are present that might help get things moving. The Moon is in Taurus while Jupiter and Pluto are in Capricorn, which are both Earth Signs, and may shore up Mars/Neptune enough to maybe get something done. There's also a quincunx between the Gemini Sun and Jupiter, suggesting another need for a change of course which is also giving Mars a nudge to "git 'r' dun", even though there is some interference from the Sun, suggesting the facts are a bit sketchy. As if we haven't already seen enough of that nonsense this year, right?

Neptune stations retrograde on 22 June. The Sun is trining both Neptune and Mars, bringing a whole lot of Water energy about which translates to strong emotions. The Sun is opposing Jupiter and Pluto. Oppositions typically indicate the need for balance. This balance looks as if it needs to be a compromise that involves emotion and practicality. This is likely to also relate to Venus stationing in a few days. This could be when information comes out that causes someone to have a rather bad day. Now it's a matter of what needs to be done about it. One thing of note in this chart is that Neptune rules such things as viruses. The Sun is quincunx the asteroid Wuhan, which has related quite closely to the pandemic. Wuhan is retrograde and heading for another conjunction with Saturn. We can all hope that this will bring about some favorable changes with the pandemic, though some of the political battles going on out there are likely to be heating up.

On 25 June Venus stations direct. Her wide trine to Saturn suggests re-establishing the foundation for your needs, comforts, and pleasures and what you value. The Moon in Leo is quincunx the Jupiter/Pluto partile conjunction, again suggesting the need for an adjustment or change of course. As noted in a previous month, Venus retrograde often brings about the downfall of a public figure. Jupiter retrograde typically relates to ethics issues, and Pluto RX digs out the dirt. This is pointing toward what could be some interesting events related to some individual(s) who will be having a rather bad day, by the looks of things.
